I used to have a LOT of subway dreams as a kid, and when I visited NYC as a teenager I was floored that the subways in my dreams looked like the ones in NYC despite me never being there before. The subways were one of my favorite parts of my trip to New York for so many reasons
Listen to all of the people in the comments, from a NY Brooklyn kid growing up. This was my childhood. I loved it when ever I stepped in into the city and subway. Loved it. Sadly i live in Jersey but it's nice out here. Still I miss the city.
They’re slowly being phased out though, some of the lines that used to have nothing but old models running on them are nearly complete of newer models, someone correct me if I’m wrong but from what I’ve seen the B and D lines are the only ones I see nowadays using nothing but older models running on their lines
A wave of nostalgia really hit me. I've lived in New York all my life and moved to Florida two years ago, and never expected to miss the subways. Appreciate even the things you hate most in life, you might really miss them one day. :,(
@@yeinsonsalazar7840 Ya the NYC subway sucks. poorly maintained (*cough cough* Chambers St and Bowery), lots of delays, etc. Come down to Boston for a REAL subway 😉
+raps maradona Its my dream to live in Manhattan, one day. Living in Upstate New York, we don't have the luxury of the subway system, or tons of options for public transit.
I live in New York. It's horrible, the MTA is the worst train system I've ever had the misfortune of riding. My dream is to live in London where everything is cleaner and works better.
@@thenyctrailfaner in Moscow the metro is open from 5 30 am to 1 am in the night window cleaning of the metro station is carried out as well as repair and maintenance work after the closure of the metro at night trains go to the depot or at night placement that is some trains spend the night at metro stations or in the tunnel this is called hot reserve that the first passengers could get on the first train at night also carry out repair work for this remove the high voltage from the contact rail 825 volts that the repairmen could enter safely into the tunnel all repair services work quickly efficiently and quickly so that at 5 30 in the morning the metro opens again and begins to transport passengers
this subway line may not be the most comfortable or modern but it gets the job done. the trains are ment to last and work hard not be luxurious super trains, and they do their job very well.
Are you joking, the NYC subway is the most delayed system in the entire planet. The governor even announced a state of emergency and called this the summer of hell.
It may as well be year round for the subway. The system shut down 3 times over the summer for many hours. Constant construction and delays........it's absolutely awful. I'm not sure how even railfans can like the NYC subway...
@@WillLMC96 Delays are no more in the NYC subway this year. The causes of delays if of stupid people who causes fights on trains an the driver has to call the police for this type of shit. Always fights. Another way delays happen is by Train track error or Signals. Also if someone has an emergency but it rare to see that. Other subways are trash since the train fleets look so ugly and our subways look more common sense with the best people saying the announcements. Plus the door sounds are beautiful then any other crap subway.
Yeah, the old fleet cars are still maintained properly. About a week ago, an old Fleet car retired which was named the R42. This subway car had been operating for 50 years. It was well maintained but it was time to retire since new subway cars replaced them. R179
@@nyctransitrailfan Bro wtf, I can tell you having been on both New York has nothing on the London Underground. London had countdown clocks in the early 1990s at every station + articulated trains since 2010. NYC is way behind that's the problem......it is not modern enough compared to other systems around the world. However I will say the delays have improved over 2 years and it is one of the better systems in North America (Chicago, Washington DC, Philadelphia, L.A. etc all suck) but would never make the top 10 on an International scale.
My wife and I visited Manhattan in 2019, staying on West 47th. We used the subway a LOT in that week. OK, you maybe couldn't eat your dinner off the platforms, but we thought the stations we used were pretty OK, and certainly no worse than their counterparts in London. The trains were the real shocker, though - clean and almost 100% litter-free! Here in Scotland we have a subway in Glasgow - it's a lot smaller, but is invariably dirty and strewn with litter. NYC, 10/10. Glasgow, 2/10.
It looks nice but I prefer the underground for its seats and the trains but to be fair I have never been to NY so hopefully I will ride the subway one day
It's been ten years since I've been in NYC and now I need to write something about this. Thank you for making this video available to bring those memories back, it really helps.
Saturday afternoons are a relatively low-volume passenger time on the NYC subway system. Certain stations that always seem busy on weekdays sometimes are busy on Saturdays too, but that's not the usual case. The Lexington line is very busy, because its companion, the long-awaited 2nd Avenue subway, is not yet open for service. As for the stations, yes they are old but the transport authority that operates the system has made some remarkable progress in cleaning up the old stations, repainting them, and doing general "fix-ups" to make them more palatable. Considering that the system carries 6 million riders a day, all in all the modern trains, along with the stations being modernized are providing a much better environment than in years past. Nonetheless, the waits for trains can sometimes be too long, and the trains are often overcrowded.
What I like about this video is that the creator hasn't dubbed in music, thus allowing the natural sounds of the Subway to entertain enthusiasts; music added to RU-vid videos ruins them.
At $2.75 a ride, no matter how far you travel, the subway is an unbelievable bargain. There is no cheaper or faster way to get around Manhattan. Taxis cost a fortune and road traffic in Manhattan can be a nightmare.
Another great video of the NY Subway system ... thanks for posting ... I'm really enjoying watching your videos since I've not had the opportunity to visit New York.
I lived in NYC around 75 years ago and remember the trains were so black and dreary with a lot more noise BUT I was not afraid to travel ALONE on the trains (always the first car). Those trains look very nice and shiny and still make me homesick for riding one again.
Luftschlange You Have Excellent Videos! They Also Have Some Photographic Value! The Clips Featured In Your Videos Always Feels Like As If It Were A Film Being Produced! Keep The Great Work Up! I Cannot Wait To See Your Future Uploads! :)
The inside doesn't look pretty but they get to the point. Fit as many people as you can and move to the next stop quickly. I love it. The system is so interesting. Here in Perth Australia our trains are "fancy" as some may say. I like the rustic sufficient design of the NYC subway system
I wish Detroit had a subway system, but we have a people mover that only circulates through downtown and a Q-Line that goes from downtown Detroit to downtown Pontiac, which is cool, but I just want it to expand though, and I love New York, from the food stances, skyscrapers, boroughs, and the subway system, next time I come back, I'm going through all the boroughs.
Who else remembers being jammed into the train carts like a pack of sardines during rush hour. Looking at this video really made me feel like I'm there probably because I've been to the ny subway numerous times as a kid. This is nuts.
The NYC subway stations and trains are dirty yet beautiful at the same time. But serious question. Why doesn't the city or who ever is in charge of the subway system clean it up or even replace the out dated trains? I don't get it. The subway system in Moscow Russia is two times bigger and their stations are beautiful works of art.
Agree. I’d still say it’s pretty great considering the size, history and pre-COVID ridership of almost 6 million, but I agree that if politicians would start funding the MTa better it would be so much better
I know this might be weird..all i need is a bed to stimulate being in the train while listening to this sound and it will put me right to sleep 😴😴. I'm always falling asleep on the train. LMAO.
I like to see some videos post of the operation of subway vehicles and the repair/mechanic side of these vehicles... To determine how similar to regular trains there operation /procedures are as well as what type of brakes , engines ,...etc they have
I wish people would stop criticizing the NYC Subway sure we have delays sure we have lots of construction but it’s still NYC transit what us New Yorkers know and love I don’t think the trains we have now need to be replaced there all fine and we are getting new cars in a few years anyways there called R211 search them up
If announcements for the Singapore MRT system is used for the NYC Subway, “The 1 train approaching Platform A will end in service at 242nd Street.” & “The 1 train approaching Platform B will end in service at South Ferry.”
