The New York Knicks are headed back to Cleveland with a comfortable 3-1 lead, and it’s their unique style of offense that intrigues me most.

When Hartenstein initially joined the first 20 or so games he used to play like a modern big stretching the floor on offense but he’s transitioned to this style and it’s incredible how much better he is now. Even without the athleticism like Mitch he pokes the ball back like Tyson Chandler.
@puppethound
@puppethound Год назад
😂 I said the same thing, he was a liability early in the season, but Now? 2 things I believe is the Knicks are inconsistent and always play to the level of their competitors, so if they can make some shots, they will be competitive and in every game.

I also like the different looks he can offer in their offense because of his passing ability, New York has options!

Still wish he'd get the occasional opportunity to take a corner 3, it's a legitimate part of his game and could he a real weapon if teams overcommit to stopping Brunson, Barrett or Randle

I’ve been saying this for a while now…. Mitch is just as important as Brunson I THINK….. yes every solid team needs a great point guard but every championship team has a DEFENSIVE ANCHOR nd that’s what Mitch does. He’s basically 7 ft with his crazy wingspan mixed with his dawg mentality nd athleticism . Bro is the perfect old school big …. Once thibs develops more plays for him then you’ll see how versatile he really is

That’s how I try to build my teams in 2K. I know it’s not the same AT ALL yk, but like I like having bigs that can get offensive rebounds (and shoot sometimes if possible) and one or two good two ways and a star/rookie with high potential.

Lots of NBA fans don’t understand that Thibs is an evolving coach. They think he’s set in his ways and can’t change but he already knows what the winning formula is. It’s defense, physicality, and smaller scorers/big utility men, and offensive rebounds. He’s been playing the last three teams the same way because this shit works. He’s just tweaking things each year but the underlying backbone of his schemes been the same. He takes destitute franchises and puts them on the playoffs. Not taking away from any of my Knicks but Thibs scheme takes the team and makes it greater than the sum of all its parts.
@eljovenlavoe75
@eljovenlavoe75 Год назад

Brunsons footwork is honestly so underrated and is potentially the best part of his iso game in terms of getting him open looks or passing lanes. I'm glad you brought it up cause many dont, but his footwork is arguably the best I've ever seen for a guard in my entire life. The way he rotates with his body and head on his pivot foot to open lanes is second to none and a huge reason he's become such a star despite lacking the athleticism or physical gifts most NBA stars at his position are blessed with.

Could any of the Cavs effectively guard Brunson in isolation? Or could some of them but either they would give up too much on offense like Okoro or the Knicks would work hard to get good switches for Brunson? And will these issues remain in the Miami matchup? Who's supposed to guard Brunson on the Heat? Lowry? Can he handle him?
@HoopVenue
@HoopVenue Год назад
I think Miami's in a unique spot in that they have 2 of the game's best isolation defenders (Jimmy/Bam), but they're both needed elsewhere. I'd expect a lot of Caleb Martin.

Mitchell is not as important Brunson. I am a huge Knicks fan. I agree that he has had a great series. But our other Center goes in there and because he can shoot from the outside that also opens other things up. If he played full starter minutes. He would have very good numbers. And sometimes it's tough to play Mitch at the end of the game. They can foul him. Then you have to play heart at Center. They have done that during many games and Brunson is an All-Star. I'm not saying you don't lose anything. But if I had my choice I'm taken Brunson and heart at Center instead of just Mitch and let's say quickly
