I like what Klay said at the end. “I mean Dirk went through it in his first Finals and Luka did too. So, we’re knocking on the door. That’s what really got me excited to be here.”
Door is closed. Klay can't be on the floor with Luka because defense rips them bad enough singularly. So this is really about getting worse on defense when most teams in the West getting Jacked Up with rosters Dallas won't ever have.
We'll miss Naji in NOLA, dude is a genuine enforcer and doesn't let any teammate get punked. He's actually kind of crazy, and his nickname is 'The Knife' lol.
RESPECT I SEE U FEEL THE ENERGY TOO. THIS TEAM COULD CHALLENGE THE GOLDEN STATES GREAT RECORD WITH US HAVING GREAT SHOOTERS. BUT STEPH IS STEPH. THE REAL CURRY
When Klay has a motivation, he's a completely different player. Warriors are building back up to maximize Steph, and we all know he needs the bare minimum and he can get it done. Klay might hit steph with some accuracy but that will only fuel Curry. I just cant wait for the FIBA
I'm sure Klay won't see this comment, but my heart goes out to you and your family. 13 years is a Long Time to be somewhere you've had the best memories and lifestyle, sailing your own boat to the arena. How incredible. I live in northern California, from Texas and Georgia, and I understand the heart pain of making changes like that, despite the incredible nature of what is being gained in the process. I hope other people can try to appreciate what you've given up and what you hope to gain, and I hope that you find success and joy in Dallas as you look forward. Thank you for being there.
As a Knicks fan, I'm happy to see Q pair up with KT and get that experience around him so he could get to that goat shooter status one day. I think he will.
I am grateful Klay choose to come to the Mavericks. I think he is going to be a great fit on this team. He looks a little hurt, but all successes are sweeter after difficulty; and his story is a great success story indeed.
Be real though, Klay tired of Draymond and how he got all the money being a role guy while Klay was the 2nd splash brother and got nothing after being injured, put on the bench and treated like shit. I guess Klay should have gotten suspended a few times and punched a teammate here and there. He'd have gotten a max deal.
I agree about Draymond. I hope Klay makes the GSW look as foolish as they deserve to look. Dallas is the place to do if ever there was a place. May he finish next season triumphantly.
@scottferguson1833 Klay stated during press conference "the interest was mutual", Mavericks couldn't make 3s, Klay needs to strengthen his core, thighs, knees, ankles to emulate Steph's perpetual movement, catch n shoot. Aedin
@user-ky7le9bf2m Your comment is valid, I think the difference was Klay's contract contingent on scoring efficiency; GSW didn't counter Klay's 2 years @ 40 million due to Klay's zero points in an elimination game. Draymond's basketball IQ, defense, mentor to young core & his ability to score netted Draymond 4 years, $100 million. Statistically GSW wins when Draymond plays. Aedin
I love Klay, but also happy for GSW and him that they let go. He truely didnt look at times he felt comfterbale there anymore. I think Dallas is a great fit for him. I see it as a win win. Cant wait to see how this plays out.
Luka Offically got Dawgs. This team got 3+ Years of Winning coming their way. Goodluck NBA. I truly believe they will 3 peat if they keep this Core together.
Loving the roster that this front office has put together, this is everything we’ve been asking for since Donnie. #MFFL #LETSGOMAVS WE REALLY GOT KLAY! 🤯🔥🤯🔥🤯🔥
@@Knight93King I was mainly referring to the huge drop-off in his defense. But also his mental state. The defense won't improve but it wouldn't be too surprising if the change of scenery improved his attitude.
As a Warriors fan and Klay being MY TERMINATOR KLAY " I'M HAPPY HE FOUND THE MAVERICK , being I live a block away. I just hope he gets a chance to touch the ball.
@@5star64 yeah but it makes them top 3 in the west if Lively comes back stronger it’ll take the team to another level. Plus we have Luka, a top 3 player in the world, and when you have a guy like that, theirs always a chance to dominate. I am glad Luka gets to rest in the summer and didn’t participate in the Olympics. He will come back with a vengeance this year, and Kyrie will feed off that energy along with Klay
@@carlosbautista2247 Only time will tell. There is no way to tell whether they are a top three team until the season starts and games are played. A lot of loaded teams in the NBA especially in the western conference. Plus Kyrie and Klay are on the back end of their careers and a little past their prime.
@@5star64Kyrie is not past his prime, he is just coming off averaging 25 a game. Klay doesn’t need to be prime Klay, we don’t need him to even be the 3rd best player. We need him to make a fucking 3 smh 🤦♂️. Still pissed off about game 3 of the finals, they couldn’t make wide open 3s all series and it had nothing to do with the Celtics defense, they just lacked real shooters. I know y’all like to bring up the west being stacked but I don’t care as long as Luka is there, our chances are endless. Two conference finals with two different rosters and the X factor is Luka Doncic and that’s it. You really think Lively won’t get better and the other young guys ? Have faith in the Mavs if you’re a fan, excuse my language. Mavs will win 60+ games this season
@@carlosbautista2247 A 33 year old 6 foot 2 guard who relies on skills and quickness going into his 14th season is a little past his prime. That was seen in the finals against Boston where he struggled to score even when he was being guarded one on one. Throughout the history of the NBA small scoring guards tend to slow down considerably after age 30. With a few exceptions from time to time. Kyrie averaged 25 points a game. He is not in a free fall. But he is not quite as explosive a scorer as he used to be.
He means, Klay not being wanted by the warriors, kyrie being shit on, along with Luka. The team failing in the finals. Mavs will come back hungry. I know people bring up the suns falling apart after a trip but theirs two difference here. Luka is far superior to any Suns player and Jason Kidd gets along with every Mavs player. Team has great chemistry and they’re young, with an all time great shooter who is a veteran. The team will be exciting to watch now
Good job iron micheal Finley , you are a true maverick. With this group of young guys your team has acquired will really us to bring us championship quick.
Grimes, Naji & Klay complimented themselves during this press conference; All answers were genuine, players articulate, cerebral. GSW GM know the West just got more competitive. Klay made an excellent point about Kyrie signing with Mavericks w/Brooklyn baggage for lack of a better word. Aedin
This new group and others here are going to make sure the whole team is in it 100 percent! This team has great love for their new members, but even though expectations are high it's not hard to help these young mofos know they also have high expectations and need to play at that next high level...
To all the New Guys Welcome to the Mavericks to The City of Dallas Texas. Stay open, be happy, learn as much as you can from each other, opportunities just might be great, and I believe good things will happen for all you guys. I wish you all well great health, strength, Championship let’s build a Texas Championships you guys can do it believe in your purpose and skills what you bring to the Table.
As a die hard Dubs fan it's strange to see Klay in any other jersey. Wish he could of worked it out with the Dubs but hey that's the sporting life.. Wanted to see all three to retire together..It is what it is.. I have his back though no matter where he's playing..
Klay going to be on fire. I think he took some shots at holdenstate in some of his words. But klay you could've gone to Australia league and I'd still watch you.
Welcome to Dallas Texas and to the Maverick Team lock in give it your all. Show your haters that watch you sore, get Wins, you guys can get thejobs done
I wonder if these Mavs fans will be happy if Klay puts up another 0/10 playoff performance. God forbid Klay gets an injury- will Dallas still ride with him?? I hope Klay the best- but the grass isn't always greener.
What did that reporter say in his question to Klay, mavs shot 18% from 3 in the final game, you're here now to help fix that? How by adding 0/10 on top of that performance? I mean if Klay changes his mindset from last year where he was basically pouting I can see him having an excellent shooting year. He gives back a lot that on defense though.
It would be really cool if Klay would have won an NBA title with two different clubs. It would made his legacy looking much better then Draymonds or Curry's.
Oh boy is this gonn be a FUN season. Everybody saying okc won the offseason, adding pieces but not losing any... LOOK AT THE MAVS BROTHA. Can you just imagine for a second, luke drawing a double team. WHAT IS THE OTHER TEAM SUPPOSED TO DO. You got Kai and Klay boyh on the perimiter and dlive waiting in the paint and pj in the corner. How tf do you guard that 4v3? Impossible, and then u got gaff, naji, Quintin, exum coming off the bench also cant forget on my boy J Hardy, potentially Kleber, he can help space the floor. We deep now boys
If Klay can play defense and shoot 50% on corner threes he's going to be a big addition. He had a terrible start to last year and he still shot 40% from three. For whatever reason he was taking a lot of off balance shots early in the year last year which he got corrected.
I feel for Klay Cali to Texas is a huge change in lifestyle it could be scary however I have a feeling he will mesh well with Kyrie and Luka and the rest of the team!
We shall see how Klay fits in with Dallas. I think he got frustrated with his playing time, and salary. I'll miss seeing the Splash Brothers playing together😮.
