I finally got a chance to play one of my most anticipated upcoming games: Mecha BREAK!
I've been looking for a new mecha game since Gundam Evolution shut down and this game might just be the answer. I was invited to participate in the closed beta this past week and it's all I've been able to think about since. Now I'm just waiting in anticipation for the next beta.
For today we'll be taking an in depth look at Alysnes, the first striker you're introduced to in Mecha BREAK. Despite being the intro striker there's a lot of complexity to this mech. It boasts an arsenal of ranged weapons, a shield, and a halberd for melee attacks. Its armor purge and call in skill also allows it to functionally live out 4 lives in one.
Let's see how Alysnes controls the battlefield in this match on Kraub Sinkhole.

Let me know if there are any mechs you really want to see closed beta gameplay from! Some examples I have good footage for: Narukami - Stealth sniper Hurricane - Shields and disruption Tricera - Tanky mech with a turret mode Falcon - Glass cannon flier Skyraider - Bulkier flier with a sniper weapon

Tricera seems like a funny archetype, similar to Tachanka and Bastion early on in their lifetimes. But those all do sound like fun little mechs to mess around with.

I would be interested to watch some gameplay from Tricera, I'm not sure if a low-mobility unit would be great to that game, but the feeling of unleashing a bullet hell on your enemies... *bites lips* hmmmm

Looks really cool. I like the idea that you lose armor and become weaker. I wish the pilots had helmets. Thats always a pet peev of mine :P

Love the fact that the round reticles HUD design kinda reminds me of the HUD design from ACVerdictDays and AC6 which are simplistic yet looks so cool.

I got into the closed beta as well, the gameplay is definitely really good but I'm concerned about the microtransactions they've got set up. This studio could very easily make the exact same mistakes as Gundam Evo but without the name recognition to back them up and maintain a playerbase for a bit.

visually looks pretty good interested to see how much suit variety there is movement seems a bit strange. general mobility appears to be a uncomfortably low at a glance with sudden very short bursts of high speed, most notably during close range attack sequences

I felt the same way with the movement when I first started playing but after a few matches I was already pretty used to it. The flying characters are both pretty fast though so if the others still feel too slow they might be more your style.

wow this looks great. I think the only thing that bothers me is the dash effect around the edge of the screen. There's too much dashing involved to have an effect flashing like that over and over.

Good mecha games are extremely rare. The gameplay looks great. However, I sincerely hope the devs behind Mecha Break don't drop the ball as hard as the ones behind Gundam Evolution.

Looks fun at least. Not sure if its my cup of tea though. I think its how the game handles weight. Heavier mechs are certainly slower but dont seem to feel heavier. Visually the game is striking (heh) and some of those sound effects are really on point, so I'll definitely pick take a closer look at it myself one of these days.

It's a shame that I can't fight with/againts you due to time zone reasons, coz I've tried some matches in NA server and the ping was kinda manageable. Anyways hope the game will do great on launch and very exited to have more and more mech games popping up lately.

I believe the game is planned to be free to play like Gundam Evo so you should be able to try it out. I played a bit of Side 7 a couple weeks ago and it was fun. The playerbase is pretty small but it was still nice to get a chance to play as some of my favorite suits again. Had a good lobby where we had some close games too.

I get motion sickness very easily, I can't play games like Warframe, but this game doesn't give me any discomfort whatsoever. I hope you'll enjoy it too, I'm pretty sure it will be F2P based on the monetization.

Gundam Evo shut down in November of last year unfortunately. I don't think they ever gave an exact reason why but presumably it wasn't making enough money. There is a community run private server project called Side 7 that can still allow people to play on PC if you're interested in looking into that though.

I would be interested for a campaign with this gameplay like a co-op mode but a team PVP is also awesome too I miss games that had a campaign co-op along with PVP and modes and stuff I just hope this doesn't become like helldivers 2 where it's just PVE or PVP by itself games these days need to have more game modes combined into the main game for it to survive

The character select music in the lobby before a match starts is pretty hype. The music for the boss fight in the tutorial also sounded good. Nothing else stood out to me too much but I was also playing the volume kinda low when I was playing with friends so I may not have heard all of it super clearly.

Is the aiming manual in this game, or is it autoaim/lock-on aim?

Weapons will lock on after a certain period of time if you're aiming in an enemy's general area. They have different lock-on ranges though i.e. a sniper weapon can lock on within a range of 1000M while a more typical weapon might be limited to 300-400M. You have the option to shoot without locking on first though and then the shot will just go wherever you're manually aiming. This can be helpful for hitting enemies who are outside your lock-on range.

The game is looking fun. The Hud needs some work, it either takes up too much screen real-estate or the opacity needs to be adjustable or just have thinner lines/graphs. A slider for some of these aspects would be a nice at the very least.

So, this'll be less about the gameplay itself and more of the irl components, but what does the game require of you when you go to sign up? I remember hearing from a streamer that when they went to sign up for the beta that it wanted a lot of very personal information, and that alone turned them away from this game. It'd be a shame if that was still the case because as cool as this looks, I'd rather not give out any personal info just to play a game.

There was a confidentiality agreement that had to be signed to participate in the beta. As far as I remember that was the only thing that required personal information. The full release won't have any agreement like that so I doubt you'll need to provide that level of info in order to play at that time.

Recent AC was a breath of fresh air in having a full refund mech part system and attainable as you play. Additionally It was polished & good lore if you look for it. Downside is balancing with a few cheese build and lack quick match/rank match

Game has potential but i am afraid of the microtransaction. Especially with the mods which seems like a lootbox gameble in a way. Either way, Panther main all the way!
