We all know that artists like Sturgill SImpson, Jason Isbell, the Turnpike Troubadours, and Tyler Childers get a lot of deserved attention as the top dogs in independent country music, but who makes up the new generation that is following in their footsteps? This video is an attempt to offer an introduction to the new class, from Zach Bryan to Morgan Wade, and everyone in between. I hope you enjoy it!
The Avengers of Independent Country Music:
• The Avengers of Indepe...

Great video as always, Grady! One independent artist I would suggest is Sam Outlaw. According to his social media he finished recording a new album in March and is set to announce a release date soon. He’s got a great voice, uses steel in his sound, and writes some pretty excellent songs. His best three songs, in my opinion, are Ghost Town, Trouble, and Country Love Song.

Feedback: when you refer to another video (i.e. the Avengers one) it would be great if you could link to it (either in-video or in comments). Not only is this a great service to your viewers it also helps the RU-vid-algorithm quickly figure out that that video is a good follow up video to recommend to viewers of the video (after enough ppl click the link). In this case it seems enough people looked it up manually to make it show up, but it's still pretty far down the recommended list.

It seems like he spitefully ignores him because Ben's fans have been pestering him to acknowledge Benjamin Tod/Lost Dog forever now. He replied to one of my comments paraphrasing slightly "they're niche aren't they?" I don't remember exactly what he said but it's like "idk dude decide for yourself". And I know he would find at least some songs that he'd enjoy because he's always praising artists like Zach Bryan (Bryan is great, not a diss) for his "truth". If there ever was an artist known for their truth, it's fu****g Benjamin Tod

First off Tyler Childers turned me into a country music fan. I grew up in the 70s being forced to listen to country music. I would be in the back seat of the car getting car sick while Willie Nelson played on the radio on family road trips. I think I associated nausea with CW music. Spent a lot of years denying myself the joy that is country music. However, I’ve always loved bluegrass! The banjo, fiddle, mandolin, a stand up bass…LOVE! So when I saw this video I immediately looked up the Appalachian/Bluegrass artists. Already a fan of Billy Strings, who I love, I looked up Cole Chaney and he did not disappoint. I tell everyone to look up Cole Chaney. Every song on his album Mercy is great. My personal favorite is ‘Leave’ then ‘Humble Enough to Hear’ and then all the songs! Lol. I hope this guy gets the credit he deserves. He is so good!

Reckless Kelly and Micky & The Motorcars have been longtime favorites of mine. Then, I got hooked on Lori McKenna’s music in 2018. Gabe Lee, Emily Scott Robinson, Yola & Ian Noe were my big 4 discoveries in 2019 (I think Gabe Lee really is the future of country! He’s a great songwriter, but he also does a variety of country styles and knocks them all out of the park!) One of my friends put me onto a band called Shaker Hymns last year. Not sure how big they’ll get, but they’re a great Texas country/rock band (along with RK & MATM.) Also, just now getting on the Flatland Cavalry and Kaitlin Butts train, but they’re also great!

Arlo McKinley. Logan Halstead’s uncle. One of those once in a while artists you come across where you just put him on and let his songs play through without skipping around. Favorites: This Damn Town Waiting for Wild Horses Bag of Pills The Hurtin’s Done

Thomas Csorba is an artist out of texas with a somewhat recent self titled release that is really solid. He had music released in 2017 and its no longer on spotify.

Great video as always! I recommend people also checking out “Coal Country” by Charles Wesley Godwin, it’s my favorite of his songs.

Senora May (just put out a new album) has some gorgeous videos on RU-vid and two records on Spotify. "Lainhart," or "Milk from the Mountain." and Katie Pruitt! Her debut record (after an OurVinyl EP) was so phenomenal. Her voice is absolutely - super powerful and raspy. I think if you like Morgan Wade you'll like KP! She's touring with American Aquarium this fall. And Allison Russell (of Birds of Chicago) just put out her debut solo album - she and Yola are buddies and Yola did some harmonies on the record. "Persephone," and "Montreal," "Nightflyer." Love so many folks you mentioned and learned about a ton more. Thanks for the videos!

I’m so glad that your channel introduced me to Gabe Lee awhile back. And I agree! He reminds me SO much of John Prine. Standout guy and artist. 😍

This video is awesome. I wish all these artists would take over popular country radio. Here's to hoping.

One of my favorites who still flies under the radar of a lot of people is Red Shahan. "Men and Coyotes" was a great album, "Culberson County" was probably my favorite album of 2018 and he just released another solid album "Javelina". I highly suggest looking into him if you haven't yet.
