This franchises fanbase being older helps it SO much. You don't need to ever tone anything down or release a movie every 2 years or 1 year to keep kids entertained.
Maybe im being unrealistic but imagine Andy Serkis as director. Maybe not for the next one but any potential future apes movie. I cant wait to see what he does with Hunt for Gollum but i truly believe he would be very detailed and leave nothing without purpose under his direction. He understands embodying an ape character and being at the forefront of these stories within this universe. I think it'd be epic honestly.
It pisses me off to no end that kingdom finished less than 3 million dollars short of 400 million worldwide. They have to rerelease it at some point just so I can clear my conscience lol
IKR literally I was praying and hoping that when Kingdom when to digital and DVD that the sales from it would have given it that extra 3M to hit 400M overall. So unfortunate.

I am pretty happy about this confirmation. Three years is the normal waiting for POTA. But now I will be excited about any tiny detail. xD It is nice to have a community now to share my enthusiasm. I just cross my fingers to get a director who really love this story as Matt, Wyatt and Wes have expressed. I hope Disney and 20th centurie keep working with people who loves this franchise. Not just a popular o prestigious director. (EXAMPLE: Michael Bay with Transformers´ movies)
I think that's why these films are so good, because they don't pump them out right after the other they take their time with the story and world building.

Yes, I agree with your assessment. Summer of 27, to be sure. I don't know about a director for two, but it would be nice to get Wes back for the finale. P.S. I must say, I finally got a 55 inch 4k television to compliment my PS5, and Kingdom is astonishing on it. I was having some juddering issues with motion but I think I've got most of it out. But you can count every hair on Proximus` chin. I also have the original PotA on Amazon Video which they since upgraded to UHD, and that's the best I've seen it look. Josh, keep your ears open for any 4k news on the five OG movies, because that is definitely a box set we need. And hell, I'd also like at least blu rays of the tv series ...

I know it’s too early for this, but I hope they allude to the Psychic Mutants in part 5. They’re one of the best parts about the Planet of The Apes franchise.
Remember when 20th Century Fox used to crank out a PLANET OF THE APES movie every year with smaller and smaller budgets, and they still made money, enough to warrant another sequel, and another and another, a whole nest of them? With Paul Dehn coming up with new stories to tell, building on what had been done before and maintaining continuity even while time traveling into the Past from friggin' DOOMSDAY . . . man, those were the days! Don't get me wrong, I do like the new Reboot movies, but this every-three-years habit reminds me of waiting for new STAR WARS or STAR TREK or INDIANA JONES movies back in the day, in the '80s. Same with the BOND films, they used to come out once a year, pretty much, back in the Connery and Moore years . . . but then they started becoming more and more infrequent. I'm 59 going on 60, and having to wait 3 years for a new franchise film is getting iffy for old farts like me!
I like the 3 year release schedule it worked really for the Caesar trilogy plus, it gives them time to flesh out ideas even more. As far as Wes Ball returning I don't see it either, maybe Zelda gets pushed back and that opens the door for him to return. But, I really like the idea of Ryan Cooler doing it he did great with Creed & maybe he could bring something new & fresh to the table the same way Wes did.
Ryan Coogler would be a great choice, I would love to see what the Russo Brothers who did Infinity War would do with an apes film they handle action and tension very well.
Glad it'll take time, even though it'd be great in an ideal to pump a high quality movie in a short time. If it's a different director, I hope they improve with this sequel, i thought Kingdom was alright, but nothing as highlighting like the Ceaser movies.
A 3 year wait is fine. This is not a franchise that should be releasing a movie every year or two (or god forbid, more than 1 movie a year) giving some space between movies is good (within reason of course)
Yep! We filmed that a while ago back when we did the first three. I've only just recently been able to finally get some time to edit it. Hoping to have it out this weekend, but if not it'll be out next week!
If Wes Ball could not return for next film, Trachtenberg & Coogler are great choices. I’ll throw in Travis Knight, Gareth Edwards, Rick Famuyiwa or Andy Serkis himself to direct
Not gonna lie, I was losing hope jiji but I’m really happy for this news. Other than that, I’ve never really liked Having different directors for every movie in a trilogy, because every director wants to tell a different story, they have different opinions and levels of creativity and because of that the story can suffer, in almost every interview with Wes Ball, that I have seen, he seems so clear about what he wants to do, what story he wants to tell and how to tell it, and so If we get a different director for the next movie, I’m 100% sure his vision won’t come true and the story will probably be completely different. But we’re still far away from 2027 so let’s see how it goes.
I don't think that's necessarily true. The Caesar trilogy switched directors after Rise and had someone else direct Dawn and War. The OG Star Wars trilogy had three directors for all three films, the Russo brothers took over for Joss Whedon after the first two Avengers movies. It can work, just as long as everyone involved gets on the same page.
