The switch made me fall back in love with gaming and game collecting, so much nostalgia about playing odyssey back in 2017 and taking my switch everywhere with me ❤️

To me personally having a switch just gives me nostalgic vibes from when I first got my Gameboy and Nintendo ds lite. Great handheld console that keeps me busy from time to time just like the old days

I hadn't owned a console since the N64 when I was a kid, but I bought a Switch as an adult because I loved the idea of playing a full open-world game from bed and I didn't even own a TV anyway. I love this console and I hope the successor to the Switch continues to be just as portable.

Where have I been the last 5 years? How could I have missed this channel up until early 2021? I am happy for Nintendo and it's success. I am happy that it is given content creators like you this wonderful opportunity. But I am most happy for you, Wood. I am happy for your success. What makes this even weirder is its been 5 years just since your channel. Blew up more with the switch content, but I've been watching since the beginning back when you used to do game hunting videos in Australia. Crazy how. Time flies, I've had two Kids, moved cities and got. Married since.

what I love about the switch now is all the more obscure and idie titles that have physical releases and has made my switch what I collect for the most in contemporary systems

The switch v2 made me fall in love with the console and gaming. Just having upgraded to the oled I absolutely love it and I can’t wait for the future switch console!

I started playing video games during the Gamecube Era and stopped playing, for the most part, after the wii. I still played every now and then and kept up with Animal Crossing and Pokemon on the handheld. But I just didn't play like I used to. I rarely played on the Switch as well. But as soon as the Switch Lite came out my love for gaming came back hardcore. The fact I can play console games anywhere I want with a smaller device really drew me in. I love my Switch Lite. It's become one of my two favorite consoles of all time next to the Gamecube. 2nd place is the Ps4. Already this year I've picked up Kirby and The Forgotten Land, Rune Factory 5, Chrono Cross, .Hack G.U. , Legend Arceus and have pre-ordered Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. We're only in March!! I still have hope more Gamecube ports will come to the Switch. Games like Wind Waker, Paper Mario TTYD, Tales of Symphonia or at least a Tales of game. The only one we've gotten is Tales of Vesperia ported over.

I'm a little late to the party, but because of you and your channel, I had and now have, 5 years worth of Nintendo Switch videos that I really love. I remember a lot of your game reviews that helped me decide what games to get! Thank you for the content!

I actually got a used Wii U shortly after seeing the main Switch reveal trailer because I realized that I didn't want to miss my opportunity to get one in good condition or skip it entirely, and I figured I'd wait to get a Switch, ya know, when they weren't sold out and there were more games. I managed to get a Switch pre-order anyway, planning to resell it since I couldn't really afford it, and picked it up on launch day after work. The thing is, my wife was in the hospital and this was also the day I got to bring her home. We were tired and just went to bed. The next day happened to be my birthday and I was looking at the Switch, still in the box, with Breath of the Wild. I looked at it, and I looked at my wife, and she convinced me to just keep it and open it since it was my birthday. I'm so glad I did. It was the first time I ever got a new Nintendo console on launch day that was 100% mine and not actually owned by my brother or a room mate. The eShop only had like a dozen or so games, and it was so exciting to watch for each new release as it came, fun to hunt for different Joy-Cons and accessories in stores, etc. I can hardly believe that all that was 5 years ago. Thanks Wood, for all your videos and excitement. It makes me excited to be a part of it all.

Switch is the first console since the 3DS that I have bought, and fallen in love with video games again. :)

I grew up on the NES and the SNES and had Gameboys and Gameboy Advances, I had a Wii (but everyone in the developed world had a Wii FFS) but I was not going to get a Switch. I thought I was an Xbox only gamer then. But I did pick up a Switch after probably 6 months and it has been brilliant. I've been able to play through Mario Odyssey with my kid and have some great couch co-op experiences which had died alongside Golden-eye, Micromachines and winner stays on Street Fighter and been replaced by grinding toxic online play on other consoles. You just don't get quality co-op on any other system (besides 'It Takes Two' which is an unbelievable game for that). I was able to do all that flexibly with the switch designed the way it is and to introduce my kids to some of the same characters I grew up with and see them begin to be able to play games solo too. Your content has been great, it's fun but grown up (or as 'grown up' as you get 😜😂 or that any adult ever should get) and it is entertaining. What comes across is your gentle and genuine personality and empathy. Good work, enjoy the success. You put hard graft and dedication into working on the switch and both of you have flourished in the last 5 years. I still play other consoles but much less recently. The Switch is easier for an adult to pick up too and fit around life. My kids and I are battling over save games and screen time on the switch and also coming together to play Mario Party, A Tale of Two Brothers, Luigi's Mansion and soon Kirby..in 3D 🤯

I remember when me and my brother got our first which it was Christmas morning and we were so excited sure we had to share what we have great memories together playing it.

My mum gifted me a Switch last year after I graduated high school, and the games have helped me a lot. With pretty much all of my friends leaving for university and having to work a 9 to 5 for the first time, I might have struggled if not for spending spare moments chilling out and playing Breath of the Wild, Skyward Sword, Stardew Valley, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. I’ll look back on the system fondly for sure.

The Nintendo Switch is my favorite indie game machine, I would buy indie games on sale based on videos like Wood recommending indie games to play, and there's lots of great gems. I also love the fact that the Switch is portable so I can play anywhere and then at home I can use the dock for TV play. It also helps to make recording from the Switch more easier through my laptop with Elgato (busy due to college lol). Happy birthday Switch!

The switch is the console I have the most games on, and I got in fairly late! They were able to take their handheld gems and home console gems and line them up next to each other on the same system.

Tho why u didn’t mention the ports? Its amazing what the switch could do with games that weren’t made for it. Warframe, Doom etc. One of its selling points. It sells for people who are coming from PC and so on. MH Rise as well.

Wood isn’t celebrating the Switch at all, this video is just celebrating his own success. Wood seems like a decent guys, but he really wasn’t the only person saying the console would be a success. Anyone could see that from the very first reveal trailer. In fact, I clearly remember saying to my brother that Nintendo would shift 150 million units… which it will.

I adore the switch. I’m a pc primary player, but I gotta say the indie games and great Nintendo titles are perfect on the go. Unfortunately my switch snapped and broke. But good excuse to get a oled switch. Gotta love that neutral colors

I Love the Switch and its various titles.

The switch was a whim buy for me. I had heard of it, my brother had one. I only ever knew my PC and a Nintendo DS from my childhood. My brother on the other hand also had a wii as a child (because our dad wasn't fair and gifted him one, I got nothing). My littlelest brother (13 years younger) had a PS. So both my brothes could be considered games somehow. The littlelest one definitely! He is a gamer already, he is 12 now. I only got the switch because a) my partner got one and I felt a little jealous - I didn't wanna experience my childhood all over again of my brother having a wii and me not or my brother having a PS and me not, I wanted to be included this time. And b) I had a gut feeling that this console would bring me a lot of fun! I was right! I love it. I do have some issues with it, too. Mainly that old games still sell for full prize (I am broke, y'all), that the online pass costs extra (can't we have the online feature free and then you can have a gamepass for all the other content like NS games, etc?) and that indie games often cost less on Steam than on switch which makes me opt for the Steam version too many times and results in less switch game play. I do wish I had the money to just pay full prize on the switch indie games (and Nintendo games) so I could fully play on my switch. I LOVE the portability of it. One major let down for me is that there is no non-third-party way to connect the switch to a laptop screen. Buying a TV has absolutely no priority for me as I watch my TV shows online (Netflix, etc.)... not worth the investment. Sadly, this means I can never use a big screen for my switch. I really wish Nintendo would come out with a downloadable app for Windows that would play the switch as if it was a TV screen. Sure, you'd also need an adapter for the cable to connect the dock. And it was not as elegant as a TV screen. But it would give me access to playing Mario Kart with friends without needing magnifying glasses. I have seen somewhere before that there seems to be a third party option for this, but I am a bit careful with third party options regarding the switch. And I really am getting a little impatient about Genshin Impact coming to the switch.

I remember before picking up my first og switch in 2019 searching you tube for recommended games as I needed to get it before animal crossing new horizons release, and it was beat um ups that gave the best reviews for the best switch games and I got some of 2017's big hitters 🥳 botw, mario odyssey, kirby star allies, luigis mansion 3 and zelda links awakening that was my Christmas present to myself 😆. I now have over 100 games, I can genuinely say that my ps5 doesn't get much of a look in compared to my switch its sooooooooo good.

Nintendo knew what they were doing when they launched Breath of the Wild with the Switch. I've always been a huge Zelda fan and I'm honestly kind of jealous of those who got to experience the Zelda franchise for the first time through Breath of the Wild. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with my childhood, growing up with Ocarina of Time, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, etc - just a little jealous lol 😂

I remember rushing into target on launch day and getting a special edition of Zelda and a switch off the shelf. Only three left. I remember coming into work late telling my boss why and he was like, “do you got it? Can we plug it in and check it out?” So I remember vividly going through the menus and starting Zelda with my boss and us both being starry eyed playing it on screen and just ripping it out of the dock with no lag, no software crashes and just being enamored with the machine. A true work of art really. Happy 5th Switch!

For all the Switch’s (and Nintendo’s) faults, there’s something irrepressibly special about what it represents. If anyone ever doubted that Wood loves Nintendo… well even this might not convince them.

The switch also changed my life. I remember obsessing over Super Mario Odyssey back in 2017 and I didn’t have a switch until 2020 so I had to see people enjoying so many Switch greatness and I was 3 years late into it. But either way, I’m so glad for the Switch’s existence and I hope that whatever Nintendo has next, it can live up to the expectations of their fans.

The Switch got me through the stress, trouble, problems and everything this pandemic has thrown my way. Being in the health care system this has been especially tough not being able to see our families and friends and also being in constant bouts battling for the lives of our patients. At the end of a very tough day and even more than a few days of straight work having my Switch and just playing in my small room in the hospital gave me enough of a stress reliever to get me through the toughest days of my life.

I still remember all the negativity surrounding the Switch because it was a portable device and people saying that the chip would be too weak to get anything of note, Nintendo would once again miss out on all the 3rd party games, and that it would be a repeat of the Wii U. I remember people specifically saying games like Overwatch, Witcher 3, Skyrim, Fortnite, Destiny, and Call of Duty wouldn't come to the system. 4 of those 6 games came to Switch and while CoD and Destiny aren't there, Warface, Apex Legends, and Warframe are. I understand, the Switch is in fact a portable device using portable hardware, but what I never understood then about the people pushing the Switch is too weak narrative or about a lot of the people who speak negatively on console tech performance in general is, the bulk of the ones who are bashing devices like the Switch, the Xbox Series S, the Wii U, the 3DS, etc. are, admittedly, tech illiterate, and stay away from the PC space, and game on console because they find the PC space daunting. This really boggles my mind. This is like getting your cooking advice from somebody who only eats TV dinners or getting your workout advice from somebody who clearly doesn't work out. Meanwhile, the PC gamers and tech enthusiasts generally speak highly of most of the consoles, Switch and Xbox Series S included. They note that you can't buy or build as powerful as those devices for their prices around their launches which is very true. The reality of Switch is that it was very impressive hardware, performing as good as the top end mobile hardware in games even into 2019. And because they decided to go with the Tegra X1 chip which married PC and mobile hardware and also had insanely good developer tools from Nvidia, Unity, and Unreal, Switch got a ton of ports that even Xbox and Playstation didn't get. It's really insane looking back on it now and seeing just how catastrophically wrong all the naysayers were.

The switch changed my life too, i brought it in march 2020 after watching a few of your videos, and purchased zelda botw, mario odyssey and animal crossing(that just released) and had endless fun and it helped me through quarantining for 2 years and through a low time. I have you to thank for such a life changing gaming experience and weekly video and streaming entertainment from you, so thankyou

I only discovered you last year, but I officially recognize you as THE switch channel to watch. Heck you got me back into pokemon which I had abandoned since pokemon ruby/saphire/emerald. Final Fantasy Tactics is my favourite game of all time. As soon as I saw Triangle Strategy, I went out and got a Switch OLED, after years of playing PlayStation. The experiences that the Switch delivers feels like gaming should. Just pure fun with great titles. I think Nintendo will be my go-to console from now on, after not having one since N64.

The Switch Arc of Nintendo's anime really is a banger. So many callbacks to the previous arcs, as if the Switch is calling upon all of the old console friends that Nintendo has made throughout the year, and with the power of console friendship, powered up the MC of this arc into infinity. It's been very emotional looking back, watching all of the flashbacks and remembering the console's backstories, all of it leading up to what the Switch is on release, and what it has become today. You can almost see the ghosts of the old consoles, gathered around the Switch, smiling with love as the Switch celebrates his 5th birthday this year along with everyone else. What an amazing arc this has been so far.

5:28 I wouldn’t consider Xenoblade 2 to be a “quality title.” It has a huge amount of plot holes, plot inconsistencies, nonsensical character actions purely done to move the story along, and overall terrible writing which greatly lowers the game’s quality. Not to mention just how slow the game is in the first half. The infamously terrible tutorials that last like 40-50% of the game overcomplicate a shockingly simple and easy RPG. Most people go from dying to everything because they don’t understand anything, to never dying because of how easy the game is once you learn the basics (with no help from the tutorials). The gameplay does get better, but that doesn’t erase the mistakes the game has.

I bought the switch thanks to you back when it launched and my first Zelda game was breath of the wild. The switch has now fueled my Zelda addiction to collecting every one ever created. Thanks to you I’ve found a game and system that I love and adore! Thanks!
