What a gorgeous winter cruise on Norma. I really enjoy your channel and am looking forward to more watching next year. Black walls, bottom of Meddon Street, Bideford for award winning Devon pasties. You gotta be early, mind, they do sell out.
I read only thinking yesterday how doing RU-vid just gets better and better year on year. 0:53😂. Sounds great on camera. All the best for 2023. I'm sure it will be a blast 💯🎄👍
It’s quite a ride, this RU-vid journey ain’t it 🙂 Yea she sounds gorgeous eh. It would be a shame to muffle her 🤔 Thank you mate, and all the best to you and yours 😁
@@Saddlebags73you never disappoint. Your mood, style, friendliness shines thru. For me it brightens my life. Along with some others . My Tv is never on I watch and rewatch all sorts. Very grateful chappie
Big thanks SB for the great vids, the ride outs and intros to a great biking community. Looking forward to 2023 muchly. Can’t wait to meet Norma in the metal. Igloos in the Sahara! PAH!! Merry Christmas to all!!
It was a nice year overall and your channel contributed to it. You ended this one in you pure style. "A phone box..." it should be mentioned. Enjoyed it. Keep it up, but also take a break my friend. Have a great Christmas and I wish you all the best in 2023.
Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas 🎅 🎄. Thank you for extending a warm welcome on you tube. Adventures await. I look forward to the pasty run. Lol Ride safe & enjoy, Lady J
That is a stunning looking bike, and it sounds incredible. The Mrs watching this video and dripped a few comments on how comfortable the pillion seat looks 😀 Igloos in the Sahara 🤣🤣 Have a great new year buddy 👍
Norma the nomad just sounds right it had to stick!🤣🤣😉👍🏻 As for the social ride thank you! As a result of the ride I now have a new group of likeminded friends fantastic!😃👍🏻👍🏻
I guess it works 🤷🏻♂️🤣 Yes the social rides have been brilliant for sparking friendships. Something I’m quite proud of 😊 Thanks Mark, all the best my friend 👍🏼
Great Christmas Day mutter SB 😊 You probably need to see if you can get a deal with Gaviscon or Rennie before embarking over the border on the Pasty quest 😂😂 Norma has a splendiferous voice and I look forward to hearing her and you in 2023. A big thanks for an entertaining 2022 . 😊 I did like that 🐕 very much 😊
Thank you kindly TAYM! After some of the things I’ve said about Devon, I might also want to take a baseball bat. I look forward to more from you in 23’ too. I always think of you now when I see a dog 😊 All the best 👍🏼
Happy Christmas my friend and thank you for all in 2022 me Ansum. going for St Piran medal for bravery are ee (pasty in Devon?) Enjoy riding Norma, she looks some pretty. 😉😉
Hmmm "Norma"? 🤔 Still, You could stash several Pastys in those panniers! 🤣 Have a nice break buddy, you deserve it, I don't know how you fit it all in! So pleased to have met You , E.R, EMA and Mr Dave, a Great Bunch of characters! All the best for '23 and hopefully hook up again soon.
Yep “Norma” 🤷🏻♂️ She’ll be a great pasty carrier I reckon 🙂 Thank you muchly Ken. It’s been great riding with, and getting to know you. I definitely look forward to more of the same next year. All the very best my friend 🙂👍🏼
Looks like a busy year coming up for you! Norma will be great for covering the miles, glad to have helped you exploring the local green lanes, it adds another dimension to riding doesn't it? Best wishes for the Christmas break!
Always busy Mister Dave. I really enjoyed riding with you, and it would be nice join you again in this coming year. Many thanks and all the very best 👍🏼
@@lauriecremore5601 I do indeed love it very much. 3 days off the bike now due to Xmas and all that goes with it, and I’m getting desperate for a ride 🤣
Happy Christmas SB. It`s a well known fact that the further south you get the better the pasties, so you will have to come down to The Lizard village and visit the furthest south pasty shop in the land.
Thanks angof, and to you. Gear Farm has been suggested, which is down that way somewhere. I’ll definitely be trying that one 🙂 All the best my friend 👍🏼
❤❤Those vulcans are very good, especially with the corbin sadel! However they are too heavy. I sold mine 2 years ago with trailer and a lot of good stuff.
@@Saddlebags73 You can weld can't ya ? You can quiet her down a bit by tacking a washer to the removable baffle , trial and error , till you find the sound you want , the exhaust brand may even offer a medium to quiet baffle . My fishtail exhaust is very loud on my Heritage . Cheers .
@@sluf1963 Yes, I’ll look into my options if the lady likes the ride. It didn’t look like it has removable baffles but I must admit I haven’t had a good look. Cheers Sluf 🙂👍🏼
Talk about putting yourself in the line of fire! You'll be trying #creamfirst in the name of research next! Those sound like great plans! Hoping to join and meet up for something soon 👍 Happy 2023, Saddlebags 🎄🎄🎄
Norma is a good name!! Remember, Marilyn Monroe's real name was Norma! You definitely had a good year!! We are all looking forward to next year too. And Very Merry Christmas Saddlebags!!
Marilyn Monroe was a bit of a stunner too 🙂 Many thanks Kode, for your support and your own vids. Merry Christmas (bit late) to you too. All the best 👍🏼
And a Very Merry Christmas to Yourself Sir, your humour is worth watching any day plus you hangout in a rather perty place, getting on for nearly as good as the IOM don'y you know? Your choice of bike though is going to cost you dear, at least a days cleaning for every hour used!
Thank you kindly DD! And seasons greetings to you 🙂 I’ll try not to disappoint through 23’ Aye, it’ll be a dry day bike but there’s still a lot of shiny to keep on top of 🥴
I like Norma way more than I think I should 😂 Once again I am really quite envious ! You are a man of strangely good taste Mr SB. Love to you and Twinks, have a Happy New Year 🤞 2022 can feck right off as far as I’m concerned but at least I’ve nearly made it out the other side ! Cheers, El Otro y Rubita bonita ❤️🐕
I’m smitten with Norma, I just hope it all works out with long rides and Twinks liking it. Haha so you’re glad to see the back of 22’? Hopefully you find 23’ more appealing/fruitful/enjoyable. Many thanks and Happy New Year to you and Rubita bonita 🙂🍻👋🏼
@@Saddlebags73 Hi SB73, yes, do report back on tank range when you do a longer trip, it's the only downside I can potentially see to touring with Norma. Hopefully she'll be alright ! I'm sure Twinks will love it, especially if Norma puts you into a nice slow cruising mode, she might feel more at ease than when you're trying to get your knee down on the ST or The Witch 😛 Yes, 2022 was a terrible year. It started out with my Dad dying and I was really stressed out for six months after that, having to help my Mum out, then work dried up, then the money dried up, things got pretty desperate. Fortunately my trip to Germany kickstarted work and I've been able to earn a few quid to end the year. So 2023 looks like it should start better at least 🤞 Happy New Year to all of you ( including your bikes in that of course ! ). El Otro y Rubita bonita
@@economicalrides 🤣 I’m always on my best behaviour with Twinks on the bikes 😇 Yep, that’s a tough year for sure. I feel your pain, honestly. Let’s hope they’re right when they say “things can only get better”. Best of luck Garry 👍🏼 Jeff
@@Saddlebags73 Thanks Jeff, trying to be optimistic. If 2023 is worse than 2022 then I will have a problem ! At least I should be starting 2023 in a better position than I started 2022, so that gives me hope. Cheers Jeff, I really appreciate your support and encouragement buddy ! Garry
Norma sounds fantastic but I know what you mean when you say "ridiculous". My old Bonnie had Arrows. With the baffles out, I'd only give her half throttle to avoid embarrassment. I bought some big-bore baffles and cut them down in length. Still sounded great but I could ride her as God intended with a clear conscience and no tinnitus after. Hope you had a great Christmas and best wishes for 2023.
Ah she sounds lovely, but like you say, it can be embarrassing and the drone in the helmet gets annoying after a while. I’ll have to do something if Twinks and I are happy with it. I had a nice Christmas thanks, but a distinct lack of motorcycle riding. I hope you had a good one, and all the best to you for 23’ too. Thanks Paul 👍🏼
It’s ridiculously lovely you mean, love that exhaust noise 😍 The name is awesome 😂 Thank you so much for the videos you’ve put out this year, you’ve consistently provided entertaining content week after week 👏 Decent pasties in Devon? Never 😂 You deserve the break fella, you’ve been putting out so much this year, fair play to you 👏 Can’t wait for what you bring us in 2023, I hope to be able to get to your social ride next year, fingers crossed 🤞 Great video mate, hope you’re doing well.
It is ridiculously lovely 🤣 Ah thanks so much, that’s very much appreciated. It would very cool to see you at the social ride. You’re right about the pasties eh 🤷🏻♂️ All the very best for 2023 🙂👍🏼
No, this was just using the gopro wired to a Purple Panda mic in the helmet. The Purple Panda mic is quite sensitive to wind noise but the screen helps on this bike. Many thanks 🙂👍🏼
@@Paulito1933 yes they’re quite sensitive. I had some success by burying the lav mic behind the cheek pad. But if it’s buried too deep, voice is muffled. I end up only recording at lower speeds, which isn’t ideal. Sound is definitely the hardest and most frustrating thing to get right. Lots of trial and error usually. I take it you’ve tried reducing the input levels? I found -27 or -24db’s best.
@@Saddlebags73 It has been tough. The main thing I've been looking for is having an internal helmet mic for good voice quality while also having another mic mounted somewhere on the bike to get the engine and exhaust sound. I thought the Rode Wireless Go 2 was the solution. I'm still hopeful it will be. I have played with every setting between the GoPro 10 sound settings with the media mod while also adjusting the -db on the receiver seems to be that regardless of the volume settings, once I start building up speed on the bike the exhaust and engine sound becomes distorted.
@@Paulito1933 Yes, just too loud for it I expect. The only way I’ve captured engine/exhaust sound well has been with a Tascam audio recorder. You can turn the recording levels down in 1% increments. As long as the mic is somewhere out of the wind it works well. In fact it has worked well recording directly from the recorder (no mic) in my back pack.
Thanks J! In a bit behind on the comments, been busy with cooking, eating, drinking and cleaning up 🤦🏻♂️ Hope you had a good one. All the best my friend 👍🏼
Ha, I really like it. I’m looking forward to better weather so I can start putting it through its paces. Then I will know if it’s viable, or just too big and heavy. Cheers Uncle 👍🏼
Merry Christmas to one and all, and here's hoping Twinks had a twinkle in her eye. Norma and the others are set to enthral, in the 2023 hunt for Pasties to try. The sound of Noma's pipes, is really quite tasty. Let's hope there's no gripes, in the hunt for meat filled pastry. More exploring of the TET and more gateways with a view. To enthrall us all more yet, than the views of 2022. 🎄🎁🎉🎆🎇
Thank you kindly Mr Wolf. I’m really looking forward to the pasty rides, and no doubt Norma will get involved. I very much appreciate the support. Thanks again my friend. All the best to you and Mrs Wolf 🙂 Jeff
Wow! She's a 'looker' all right! Seeing how you totally ignored my previous 'words of wisdom' 🤣 I'll try again! Before you sell the Pan what about this idea? I have no idea the kind of trips you have planned with Twinks but if it involves high(ish) mileage days or repeated days on the bike, you should arrange some 'test ride outs' 'long weekends??' with Twinks riding pillion. This will give you chance to see every aspect of both the bikes, luggage capacity, comfort over a long period, vibration, exhaust noise etc etc. Then let Twinks decide. It's not just your 'itch to scratch' if you intend the bike for two up touring. All the best for 2023!
Some of us have to learn by our own stupid mistakes 🤪 You’re quite right. It’s important to me that Twinks is happy on the bike. We did a 200 mile day on the Pan with ease. I intend to keep it until the Spring at least. I’m quite sure she’ll find the Nomad comfy, but I’m not sure about noise and vibrations, or even if I’ll be comfy on long rides. The sooner it warms up the sooner I can put it to the test. Many thanks Paul, and all the best to you too 🙂👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 My guess is you find the Pan 'lacking in character'' compared to your other bikes, which I'm pretty sure Norma has 'in Spades'. I guess in my previous post I was trying to say....'It depends on what you want to use the bike for, and the types of two up trips you have planned' Kind of choosing the right tool for the job. Full disclosure I ride an old Honda 500 single...'some vibration is apparent' 🤣 All the best for 2023...Here's hoping for some great riding weather 👍
@@paullee6663 Yea it does lack character, yet somehow is still a nice bike to ride, requiring plenty of rider input. Norma oozes character, yes. To keep both would be nice 🤔 XBR???
@@Saddlebags73 Yes Sir! You know your stuff! Bought her new in '85....Always on the road, and maintained, but only a few rides a year, usually in excess of 200 miles a day, but 'life' kept getting in the way 😟 Did the Pico's in 2018 well in excess of 1500 mls, and the furthest point west in Spain in 2019 over 2000 miles (round trips) First time ever touring (on a bike) abroad....old girl never missed a beat, and attracted a lot of attention (in black) when parked alongside far more 'exotic' company.... I was booked on the Santander ferry for 2020...but we all know how that ended....🙁
@@paullee6663 Had the ferry booked in 2020 myself 🤬 Blimey you put some good trips in on the xbr. A mate had one, in black. I loved the style and sound. Fanny magnets apparently 🤣
Wasson Sbagsy boy? Crossing over to the dark side to sample pasties? Is there nothing this Lanson boy won't do for his loyal subscribers ? (Fa) Geddon Pard and DFD.!
My friend, you should know by now I live life on the edge 🤪 A bit late but, Merry Christmas to you, and thank you for your friendship and support. It doesn’t go unnoticed. An overnight stop around Helston could work perfectly 🤔 I’ll contact you to discuss suitable dates. Many thanks me boody, DFD 🙂👍🏼
Norma, now that's an old name you don't hear much of nowadays, SB. Much along the lines of Ethel or Hyacinth. Your video plans for 2023 look exciting so, as ever, I'll be keeping a close watch on your channel.
@@Saddlebags73 It's still a thing of joy and wonder. I don't dislike it. Far from it. More just not me. Like that time I turned down Sam Fox to go out with Linda Lusardi. 😁
