Yamaha claims to have reinvented the stage keyboard with the YC61. The new instrument uses Virtual Circuitry Modeling to accurately recreate a tonewheel organ, rotary speaker, pianos, and even has an FM synth built in.

Thank you for asking him to get into the FM section. It seems the front panel controls are a little limited for it unless you are using the Organ. I still want to know if they might do a feature in the software or app where you could shape the FM a bit more, since it is an actual FM engine

Make it in a 73/76 weighted version and it will be a great alternative to the Nord Electro 6 and Korg SV2. Nobody does a keyboard with a weighted action and proper drawbars.
@Creabsley
@Creabsley 4 года назад
Why would you ever want a weighted organ?
@stuartdarling1620
@stuartdarling1620 4 года назад
@@Creabsley you wouldn't, but it's not an organ it's a hybrid instrument in the line of the Nord electro 6 which comes in a fully weighted hammer action as well as a waterfall. Nord are the only brand to offer this keybed at the moment and the compromise is that you have LED drawbars instead of physical drawbars. It would suit the player that needs a good weighted action to play pianos but also plays a bit of organ. Some people say you can't do glissandi on a weighted action, I strongly disagree. You won't be able to do the same degree of note repetition but for the part time organists it's enough of a halfway house
@carlosperezbucio6628
@carlosperezbucio6628 4 года назад
@@stuartdarling1620 It's the opposite that is intended: this keyboard aims the organ player (the name YC says it all) that also plays a bit of pianos. Waterfall not weighted is what organ players want.

@nebula0697 4 года назад
@@Creabsley organ playing is not only about glissando. You might play mostly non-organ keys and still appreciate the drawbars, even play them, which I did for years when i had a Clavia. The hammer action on the Electro 4 was horrible though
@nebula0697
@nebula0697 4 года назад
@@stuartdarling1620 Correct, that's the idea behind the hammer action Electros but hope Clavia improved on the noisy and weird feeling keybed that was on the Electro IV. For the people wanting to do glissandos on any fully weighted keyboard, here's a weird hack that will allow you to do it even more precisely and smoothly than any hand on any soft action: use a paintbrush. Carefully choose handle length, bristles hardness, width and length. Opportunity cost is having to reach out for and let go of the brush and people looking at you weird, and you'd have to use two paintbrushes to do double hand glissandos, but the control is unbelievable and you can get into the fine details of glissando technique with it. On a fully weighted action.

Its a great Board but not a nord killer. Just trust your own ears.. nord electros has some advantages, and i believe the yc has an advantage as well.. im a nord stage/electro user and also a yamaha motif/dx7 user, an ex kronos/fantom user... All i can say, no keyboard is better.. We all play differently. YOU CAN listen to anyones opinion but just trust your own ears.

Why 61? I want at least 73 keys esp. for 2000€!
@Robin_S78
@Robin_S78 4 года назад
Very nice instrument, but with 61 keys I cannot use this as a primary instrument on stage. It’s a nice addition to my 73/88 keys stagepianos, not as a replacement.

Does anyone know if can you set up a split with organ engine on one side and keys engine on the other? Could only find references to splits within the sections.

@@nebula0697 what about the SYNTH sounds please?
@nebula0697
@nebula0697 4 года назад
@@monsterjazzlicks Please verify for yourself but likely to be highly comparable. If I remember correctly the same sort of synth controls as briefly demoed here are available on the CPs. It's clear CP and YC were developed in tandem with awareness of both organ and stage piano markets. CPs are clearly designed to compete with Clavia Stage and weighted Electros, and YC clearly competes with organ-action Electros
@monsterjazzlicks
@monsterjazzlicks 4 года назад
@@nebula0697 I own a CP73. If the YC is only different as regards to organs then there is not much point in buying one
@nebula0697
@nebula0697 4 года назад
@@monsterjazzlicks Plenty of people need to emulate organs experience both in sound and feel and so need lighter keys and drawbars, so the CP won't do. Also a lot of band keyboardists want the lightest board possible and this is obviously lighter than the CP 73. Hybrid option is if you want to retain hammer action but also want drawbars, then Electro HP is only option (although drawbars are not physical I believe, which has advantages with presets clarity).

Again?? Why only 61 keys?!! To be a versatile instrument on stage you do need 73 keys! Loosing the match again vs competence who have addtessed the point as needed by players

The YC61 weighs less than 16 lbs (7 kg) which was probably an important design consideration.
