People used to find him funny. Non-racists among them. Worse people around. You should look up "Most racist town in America", hilarious stuff. It features a similar man who's alive today and look how chill he is around black people. In that regard Johnny Rebel also mellowed down, of course never catching on with the current mentality. The so-called 'most racist man of America' isn't really one. He'd call you a n*, but he would also resuscitate you if you had a heart attack. Just someone who doesn't give a f. Hardly the worst racists around when all they did was spout some slurs. You never can get all people to join your side and there will always be square pegs. If they're a harmless minority, just leave them be. The best way to overcome racial tensions in my book. Usually the white guys who avoid racist language are the ones avoiding blacks, whereas others intermingle with them as equals. The world isn't that simple. I know JR wasn't such a guy,. but there's a huge grey zone with that dude.

FYI, the episode wasn't banned since I watched it on Adult Swim. However, after the episode aired it was removed immediately due to death threats, the episode was available on their website for a few days until getting removed. Yes, the character is based on Johhny Rebel with the covers and songs.

the only thing I didn't like about this episode is that Ruckus outright admits he is not white. he had been delusional in every other episode even the one where he gets a DNA test yet here he can't bring himself to tell him he believes he is white.

So I recently visited a European country where the bathroom stalls are full doors and it made me wonder also why we have such a large gap between the door and the floor. And it came to me that the gap is there in case something happens to someone in the bathroom then you can be assisted by simeone coming under the door. I could be wrong, but I think this might be the reason.

I believe they banned it on Adult Swin bc they shared the channel with Cartoon Network. There was a pretty good chance that children would stay up long enough to watch adult swim, which likely lead to it being banned just to keep it away from children. They were probably spooked that the music might be enjoyed by kids and they would start singing the lyrics or seomthing along those lines.
