I literally was just telling someone about how uneducated Spanian is. I swear I have lost brain cells listening to him speak and understanding how his brain works. I’m guessing you are from a similar part of the world to him? He is extremely uneducated and considering the amount of followers/money you would think he would seek some common knowledge/ an education.
As a Korean American, I appreciate your content. It would be difficult for me to join the tour as you have mentioned it has just been opened up and often closed. Also, when you said it was stupid it touched my soul. Growing up, the conflict is all I've known and to hear it is in fact disagreements over nothing, is refreshing from an outsider to hear
There is a lot of South Korean nationalism on the Internet, I heard some weird comments like South Koreans are genetically different and taller than North Koreans which is ridiculous because they are the same people.
Never like the Koreans…I heard that they are the most petty people in the world. And to be fair, all the bad things they said about each other are backfiring on themselves as well cuz they share the exact same gens…. It’s like twins brother telling each that they are ugly…
Thanks Spanian, I really enjoyed your post. I think you are a great person and have been watching all your posts for awhile now. You are good at what you do with showing the world what you do. Keep up the great work and stay safe Spanian. 2024
I just came to say thank you for being so real, open and vulnerable onscreen & not editing out parts where you become emotional. The boys need to see that & know it’s not weak or nothin, to show their heart. Awesome video thanks for opening my eyes to things I’d never learn about.
@@jackthelab6755 Dude I know you wanna come off intelligent and all but youre making yourself out to be a fool so just stop talking and go to bed ya smooth brain
🇦🇺 It’s such an inspiration to see how genuinely passionate Spanian is about his new life, as he not only travels the world and experiences new and interesting cultures, meets new people and enjoys so many different cuisines, he manages to present many unusual and unique situations in a manner that I’m sure will help “lift” others who may have lost hope or struggling to find some meaning to their lives, often riddled with adversities that seem endless. Good on you mate, and for any negativity or feedback that may express any resentment to your new found success or simply how you may have changed, just keep in mind one of my favourite sayings- “Be who you are and say what you mean, because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter !” Keep up the great work and keep enjoying life as much as you are 😎👍
Yep, he is obviously a smart, emotionally intelligent guy, but due to his upbringing, he never got the opportunities to express it until now. I grew up in the 'hood as well and live an upper middle class life now because my parents emphasised education because they never got the opportunities we kids got despite them being very intelligent people too. I saw so much lost potential in my 'hood growing up as well and I'm glad Spanian has this platform as a person they can relate to and see there is a way out. He is an empathetic guy and it shows in his storytelling. Supposedly the rumour is that he did donate to the favela football team in Brazil to get new football goalnets, footballs, uniforms etc but never told anyone nor filmed it. As it should be.
Just a minor correction. Korea (whole of Korea not just South Korea) was invaded by Japan from 1910 - 1945, thus, Korea was occupied by Japan for 35 years. Japan left when they lost World War 2 in 1945 (world war was between 1939 - 1945). Then, soon after Korean war broke out in 1950 and ended in 1953. North Korea was backed by the Soviet Union and China, and South Korea was backed by USA and the United Nations of over 26 countries.
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE VLOG THAT YOU'VE DONE. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND SEEING SOME VIDEOS ON YT ABOUT PEOPLE GOING INTO NORTH KOREA AS TOURISTS. IT IS SOOOOO FACSINATING SEEING HOW THEY LIVE THEIR LIVES AND THE BIG DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH KOREA
This was such a great video, I watched it without pausing. Love Spanian’s storytelling style, it’s very authentic and makes me feel like I’m right there with him 👊
Yes, I totally agree with you, always compassionate to less fortunate, in this video I was expecting to see the actual border where both Nth and South Korea soldiers occupy,
I did the exact same tour with the same tour guide, Erica, last November. It was a very somber but interesting experience, and it was really good to relive it again through this video. Heaps amazed at how you've shared all that knowledge and information from that tour, with your raw and pure emotion/ reaction. Thanks Spanian, please keep up the good work on these travel and food videos! Huge respect mate!
The DMZ is super interesting but also kinda sad 😔. It's wild to think about how two countries can be so close yet so far. Spanian really made the tension come alive here. Also, can we talk about those stunning visuals? 📸
The great things about travelling - going to a place for a thing, but exploring and finding the most random stuff :) - Those are the things that stick with you the most, not the tourist traps.
First time viewer and subscriber. Thank you for your unique storytelling and your ability to be open with your emotions in this video. It’s very refreshing to see!
Never did I expect a Spanian vid to have me in tears, but one particular story (which I knew bits about previously) was so well presented that it got to me!
Watch the S21 prison and killing fields in Cambodia when Spanian does the tour of the place , he's in tears. Especially at a certain Tree. It's a very sad video, but definitely an eye opener. That only happened in the mid to late 7Os.
At first I though "that's weird that people pay to look at people in another country just at work" Then I remembered people spend money to look at toes🤣
Thanks for sharing some of the darker side of histories instead of avoiding the subject, I think it's important we don't forget what's happened in the past to not let it happen again.
Beautifully said, its so heart breaking to learn about the torture and barbaric acts us humans do to each other. May we learn from our past , and present so our future as human beings may become more humane and peace rain us all.
I cant believe that South Korean people were shitty people back then by rejecting abused women. I hope that the newer generations are more human than their ancestors.
There's little YT bloggers I genuinely feel a connection with, and even fewer that I feel like are real. But you Spanian, you're the go to guy for honesty, raw emotion, fait opinions, and humor. Thank you lad, never stop making these vids ,bring us so many smiles and letting us see parts where most of us probably will never get to see,and always stay the great guy you are👊🏼
Best vlog for DMZ seen to date! Vlogged not just a tourist but also appreciating and having genuine empathy with what's happening. Spanian, I recommend watching a movie called 'Ode to my Father' - movie set at the time of the Korean war and about separation and uniting of families. One of my all time favourite movies (and I'm not usually into historical drama movies). There will be an English subtitled version. It has a scene what you were referring to about TV stations live broadcasting families reuniting. I remember as a kid watching that TV show every Sunday. I was too young to know the gist of it all though. My family is fortunately not separated by the border but most of the people would still tune in weekly.
Many people have been there to document the DMZ!!! To be honest, you described the status quo very authentically. You were very interested in the fate of the people who lost their life on ground zero!! A great vlog!!!!
People saying Spanian will fall off nothing but haters aye been watching you since your rapping days still here love the content and your story brother all the other haters can stay on that side aye spanian got big supportive fans love 💯 your only going up brother 💎
Thanks for taking us with you. You are the best and have the best diverse content on RU-vid or television. You are so comfortable with the camera that it’s as though you are talking to us personally. We love watching your videos at home mate. Love what you do and who you are.
You are a good bloke mate... when you feared up" did my wife go to show " Your episodes are getting better and better . This is better than the in the hood scene. Keep it up bruv
Wow man, your channel has truly become something special over the past year or so. So much knowledge and insight in these clips. I believe you are truly living out your purpose with these videos. Thank you for the content Spanian, keep it coming and congratulations on your success! 🎉🍻
Just so the viewers know the Korean war technically has never ended. In 1953 the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed only by the heads of the UN Command, North Korea and China at the time, South Korea never signed and the agreement specifically says it is not a peace treaty. Prisoners were exchanged and territory such as the 38th parallel De-Militarized Zone and borders were drawn up. Currently North Korea antagonises South Korea and Japan with their missile testing and gun fire in their territories however restraint is always exercised.
@@darko38 The South Korean President at the time didn't want to sign the armistice agreement as they/US failed to defeat the North/China and reunify Korea. So for now it's a stalemate.
You got everything correct except the part about the Korean War never ending. That's not true at all. An armistice marked the end of the war and the Korean War ended in 1953. What the armistice didn't do was normalize relations between both Koreas. Both Koreas are not at war with one another as both governments have no formal relationship with one another and really can't normalize relations without a proper peace treaty. So both Koreas are not at war with one another but not at peace either. Korea is actually still stuck in a limbo as it was just after WWII, when both governments were considered temporary until a unified government could be agreed upon by the Soviets and the US. Well the Soviet Union is no more, the UN is for Korean unification as is the US as long as America doesn't get a bad deal in the process and China's only real demand is that the US not militarize north Korea. The south Korean government are ones stalling the process as they cite Germany's unification and how arduous and expensive that was for Germany. There's also the question of whether north Korea would really want to either until someone can come up with what to do with the thousands of their elites including the Kim family who would suddenly find themselves without any power in such a scenario. So Korea remains divided not because everyone prefers it that way but because there are good reasons to put it off for now.
Fun fact: Korean War never technically ended and is still an active conflict. There was a “2nd Korean War” in the 60s that was small skirmishes, but it is overshadowed by the Vietnam conflict.
Thanks Spanian for showing the younger generation what is going on all over the world. Without your involvement many people may not have bothered to take notice. You been everywhere now. Blessings to you and family. Thanks bro
Mate I have only just started watching your vlogs - this is one of the best pieces of educational entertainment I have ever watched…….ever. I know that sounds like a big statement but I fckin mean it bro. The stories about the families only communicating through a TV show, those poor comfort women and the invasion tunnel!!!!! That is top notch journalism. It’s criminal how good your content is. That’s enough blowing smoke up ur A.R.S.E but credit where it’s due my friend WOW
i hope to soon have the same courage to just go out and do shit like this, on my own. i know that no one really cares or notices anything but themselves, but it's hard to not be self conscious sometimes. these are actually really well shot videos as well, with a lot of effort to inform the viewers as well. keep it up
People don't realise the guy that started Hyundai is actually North Korean. He snuck across the border to the south to find work. I guess you could say it worked out. He's one of the few South Koreans that could ever cross the border
Wow! Heaps of truthful information in this one I had no idea about! Don't be afraid to show your EMOTIONS fellas, it is bloody good for ya to let it out. It's not weak!
You are hilarious. I love your videos. These travelling vlogs have become my favourites . I'm always looking forward to with excitement . You on the merigoround and then the locker haha absolutely 💯 enjoy your vlogs .
The history of the "Comfort Women" is so tragic. Having endured absolute torture if they were "lucky" (I use the word lightly) only to be rejected by their own people, unfortunately, demonstrates the inhumanity of war from both sides in the end.
This is just awesome. What an amazing trip and storytelling I Cooked dinner with the kids sat down and watch this and we were all glued to it mate . We didn’t know some of those stories you were telling the ones with the north or south not seeing their families again. This is like world tours of National Geographic or something you just do this naturally mate I was watching the kids watch you they absolutely loved it as I did . AMAZING. ❤
Funny story. I'm from Switzerland originally but I'm Australian now. About 12years ago I went to Switzerland with my Australian partner, she hasn't been overseas since her grandparents took her to South America at age 12 or something. Anyway we were early mid twenties and obviously took the cheapest flights. It involved a layover in Seoul of all places. We arrive at Seoul at like 10pm, no idea where to go, nobody in the airport. So we start following the other passengers that disembarked the aircraft but quickly realised that most went on to connecting flights.. confused we stood around for a while looking for some directions. There where some Korean military, I tried asking them but was met with a combat riffle pointing at me and shouted at lol. Eventually we found someone to help us. On the next day while waiting for your flight at the terminal we went for a dart. I was wearing grey cargo pants, greay sweater, plain black snapback and had a black/Gray backpack. There were mainly American soldiers around waiting to fly home. One was asking me something, before I realised what was going on one of his buddies told him " don't talk to him he's navy" lmao. But one thing I can confirm, Korean air has the best airplane food.. and I flew alot.
Lad goes to Colombia and almost get's shot by the Colombian Military , rides a Marry Go Round in DMZ South Korea " Best thing I've done " ... what a LEGEND :))
There was a north korean defector that did an interview about how life was like in north korea and she said that everything was for show. No one could afford to go to carnivals, go out and splurge. Even the shops with products on show…or simply just for show. Its truly sad. Greatful that you got to show us spanian❤
9:50 It's probably just border security checking your luggage, making sure you're not importing contraband. If you want to lock your bags, without them breaking your locks, you need to buy TSA approved locks which allows security personnel to examine the luggage without damage.
Was about to say the same thing. The only weird thing about it is that they should have put some tag on the bag after opening it. Saying "cleared by customs" or something of that sort. But I'm still 95% sure it was customs.
Fuckin fantastic video bro. I'm an American and an average American like me doesn't know half or a quarter of what you told me today! Thank you so much and thank you for being honest and neutral without propaganda.
Mate, I’m a big fan of travel vlogs and for some reason I held out on watching yours for a while. No idea why but stoked I’m on the Spanian buzz now - your videos have a real human element to them and you have a great way of connecting with people and their history and culture - keep it up brother
