“It’s not about protecting these devices from scratches, it’s about protecting me from these devices from filth and grut” As someone who has watched every Nugget Lucky dip, this is more than true
I was gonna say "Oh damn, my friend had a slightly bigger version of that Philips one!" and then you pulled one out shortly afterwards. THAT's the one I remember.
@@ZackGamesaLot It does!!! Battery is pretty cooked and it's slow as balls but it totally still turns on. It's been upgraded to the nice drawer with my old 2nd gen iPod Touch
I subscribed to DankPods a year after the tale of the one grit, and I stayed for the i-mods. Today I finally made it to a current edition of the nugget lucky dip! What an incredible journey, this channel. 👏
6:48 its crazy to think abt how somewhere in the world this kid is living his best life and has probably completely forgotten about all these memories, yet here you are, showing what is essentially this random guys childhood on the internet for the world to see
6:43 that’s a school chair in the background so a kid in 2010 snuck a knock off iPod in to school edit: actually there’s a little kid so they probably stole the chair from their school
wtf, why are you two so weirded out from Ben calling "Dank" by his first name? I don't think he minds, otherwise we would have probably never learned his name in the first place 🤨
I like how his ending spiel needs to go on for much longer because there's just so many more patrons now. As a fellow patron; I approve of this development.
legit think he could do $20,$50, and $100 levels with the only difference being how long your name stays on the screen. do 2 or 3 columns scrolling at different speeds.
On the second working nug, it appears that it got freaked by special characters in the file names or metadata. ASCII code 39 is a single quote/apostrophe, which then aligns with "Guns N' Roses"
I can’t say that I seek out audiophile content. But I’ll be damned if I haven’t bought a bunch of audio gear because of this channel. You sir are a treasure and I love everything you’re putting out there. Also, because of your recommendations, I’ve been enjoying my ham radios more with better quality headphones and IEMs. Thanks!
I had a samsung very similar to that yepp that was part of my daily loadout for years. except its jog wheel was a bit you twisted on the end. actually worked really well, very ergonomic, almost impossible to accidentally hit, but super easy to manipulate in your pocket. the UI was good, drove my cans hard enough that it never got used on max (and didnt clip), ran on AAA's so you could swap em, kept a stash of NiMh's in my bag. had a propriatary cable tho, which sucked when that got lost. no big, it was stuffed with bangers. got it in Singapore. Loved that little nugget. Lost it on one of the busiest roads in freo, just wasnt in my pocket when I went to plug it in. wasnt there when I went back. I miss you little nuggie.
I don't usually post this sappy shit, but I've been feeling really down due to personal issues these past few days and legit one of the few things that makes me feel better is seeing a DankPods upload. Thank you for everything, you amazing Aussie bastard
@@EDWARDKENWAY333 the fact that the lucky dip is giving them a fresh breath of air...? I've been feeling pretty fucking shitty myself the last two days, so i get where they are coming from. And hey, i'm sure Dank enjoys reading that his content makes a difference?
"Expectations are the gateway to disappointment." Probably the best quote I have ever heard in a while. Hands-off to you mate! You a truly a scholar and these 'nuggets' are a medium for you to spread the immense wisdom have.
0:57 Never thought I'd see one of my favorite nuggos on this channel, let alone in the lucky dip AND working. I still use it from time to time. The fact it runs off of just 1 AAA and holds a full album at CD Quality has kept it a regular friend for particularly long trips.
If you think that's great, wait until you look into FLAC players. Xduoo's D3 Nano may be the cheapest players in that lineup, if you can tolerate the slow interface.
@@Code7Unltd I actually have a Benjie S5 with my own custom firmware on it for a FLAC player, but I appreciate the recommendation. My point was more "This is convenient when I can't get to a charger for 24+ hours and need to chill".
Love how the AA-battery-powered ones work fine after 20+ years while all the lithium ones died (and at best work on USB power). I know using disposable batteries in not great but using disposable devices seems even worse to me.
Yo Mr. Pods, thank you for the quality content. You are literally the only person Im subscribed to on Patreon, and that's purely because you're the only creator I know that does extra content every week. Keep up the good work
When he slapped down the third Philips, I nearly spat out my food in laughter, but it was heartwarming for me because he ALSO started laughing when he slapped it down, so it was like we were laughing together.
I had a LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer twelve years ago and the Jensen was the exact same way I took pictures and videos on it; I always did with no purpose.
There's nothing I look forward to more every year than my birthday,Christmas......... and of course The Nugget Lucky Dip! Thanks for all the great content mate!
I can't say there are many RU-vidrs for whom I've watched every single video, but ever since DankPods I've watched all of them at least twice. There is an undying charm this man possesses and I am so happy he continues to make such glorious content
I've been bingeing a bunch of these videos recently, and it's started impacting my life. At work, I was explaining to someone that the thing they were buying would need batteries and I genuinely had to stop myself from just screaming "Oh yeah this needs a couple of ~~AA~~'s, in the back here." 10/10 would almost accidentally scream in a customer's face again.
Gotta love a good nugget. I remember having the generic USB MP3 that I found on the side of the street and I didn't even get any viruses or have to add much music. It had a bunch of green day and a few from my chemical romance as well.
I did used to have a Sony Walkman NWZ-E383/NWZ-384 that Dank brought out one day. That thing was super slim, had a decent enough screen, and had great sound quality and music options. I actually thought about buying another one very recently so I didn't have to use my phone battery to play music...
I firmly believe that he had good lucky dips before he started doing main channel ones. The first few Patreon ones did pretty well. Now we get more nuggets which I’m not complaining about
The 69 eyes were really popular during the 90s and early 2000s in Finland (being a Finnish band and all), I never knew they were popular outside of Finland, so it is wild to see them on a random Australian Nugget. Great to see.
@@MrJustinUSCM They had a huge following in Berlin, for example. And Bam Margera and his entourage also had a big impact on making them popular internationally
OH MY GOD!! that first nug! i used one as a kid! i loved that thing so much! before it all i had were cheap radios and hit clips so that thing was pretty game changing for me when i got it. i remember it had a built in radio that it could record from so id just jump around stations until i found songs i liked and recorded them. felt like such a bad ass just being able to listen to these songs whenever i wanted for free. my family didn't exactly have money so an ipod was on a whole different plane of reality from me lol. Also, if i remember right, somewhere theres a setting that lets you change the color of the light behind the joystick. which i felt was pretty cool. i never thought id see one again, this really did make my day thank you!
I showed my mother your videos and she was so happy. She was born in Millicent and moved away at a young age. Nothing makes her happier than hearing a proper Aussie have fun. Thanks for making my mum laugh ❤
That Samsung player was one of the first mp3 players in our family. It got passed down to me as my Dad bought new players and I used it a lot to pass the time during the drive between Adelaide and Melbourne on family trips. It still works and it's still got the soundtrack to Command & Conquer, Baccano, Sunday Sundae, The Living End and other assorted stuff I crammed in there as a teenager.
I love watching his genuine excitement and disappointment along with his great sense of humor as we share in this nugget adventure of discovery together. This is such a fun channel to watch, especially if you're having a bad day.
I actually owned a Philips GoGear nugget, seeing that on the video made me so nostalgic and happy! it was a really nice nugget too.. I listened to lots of Placebo, Linkin Park, SOAD on it!
same here!! i had a more nano-y form factor "portrait" one that was amazing, then i broke it and got one of the bigger landscape boys that absolutely sucked compared to the other one lmao but that landscape one got my mom into green day and good charlotte so i can't really complain
