2:20 i goto ASU and ive seen the monowheel used by like, 8 or 9 students here; its kinda neat, but most people use skateboards or bikes to get around the campus; so methinks these kinds of concepts are aimed at college students with money to burn

Hear me out electromagnetic shoe insoles that lock you on to the thing, with a little wider stance if you were locked in I could see it being way easier to control.

I don't think it's usable in Japan. 1) self-driven transport requires license plate. 2) most places have steeper slopes than where you tested.

@eiennofantasy

I live in Yokohama and haven't seen anyone use one of this. In the first place, this thing cannot be used in Japan because anything that goes above 6km/h is considered a motor vehicle and needs a license slapped on there. (I looked it up because I originally was thinking of using an electric scooter to go between my house and the nearest station, which is a 22 minute walk away). So yeah, can't be sold and used in Japan. If you see one on the road, it's because they're using it illegally and cops can fine you for using it.

This seems like the sort of device you use when you can't walk, but have to walk at walking speeds, by standing on it and leaning forwards and backwards, which requires the functional legs you need to be able to walk in the first place. It's a solution that has no problem to solve.

3:38 - Don't specify temper. You've got to be kidding me. 99.9% chance it's 7075-T651. There's literally no reason to go specialty and it's also a meaningless specification for this product. They probably shouldn't even bother with that, because no one cares and it doesn't matter.

@bipbop3121

There are motorized longboards. They've been around for years. there are just more restrictions or stupid stereotypes around skateboards. I agree, they're a bettr fit for purpose. Although, in a crowded city, more skateboarders I see on the roadway, than the sidewalk.

I own an electric Longboard and they are awesome but there is no way I would take it down a crowded street. They are fast, don't stop quick, and have horrible turning circles. Electric longboards belong in bike lanes, not on foot paths. This crazy thing is intended for busy commuter areas... But when it's crowded this thing won't work. Feet are the best for that.

Firstly, it just reminds me of when Richard Hammond rode something sorta similar through an airport a few years ago on The Grand Tour & secondly, I'd expect, for something that costs around that amount, at least a Bluetooth connection so the device could be controlled by the users phone or maybe an actual remote.

If anyone needs a portable small skateboard, a simple Sole Skate for $15-20 is all you need. This tech is cool but still needs more improvements to be reasonably worth the cost
