The military is the reason why my family is doing as well as we are. I had my entire undergraduate degree paid for and am about to graduate with my masters debt free all thanks to my GI Bill and the tuition assistance I received while serving on active duty. We can all choose to be a victim or a victor, your mindset dictates the outcome regardless of your experience. It wasn’t all rainbows and gumdrops for myself, I had to overcome major adversity. Looking back now, I am SO HAPPY I stuck it out.

I am about to start my DNP program and I owe it all to the military. I will say this, use the military for everything you can because they are going use you 100x more!

You interviewed me and I didn’t really talk about my start up into Nursing. I was active duty USAF as a Field Combat Medic. This qualified me to become a licensed Paramedic and LVN without attending any civilian college and I was licensed in CA by challenging the State exams as a 20y/o active duty Airman This also allowed me to bridge into an RN Program and obtain my RN license and buy a house in CA before I turned 30. I owe my career to the USAF!

I was in the Army. Years after I got out, I joined the National Guard and became a medic. I did ROTC in college with the goal of becoming an Army nurse. I didn't meet my goal bc I got type one diabetes during my first semester of the nursing program, but before that, the ROTC commander changed & the new guy didn't understand how to progress me thru the ROTC program & cut me. I eventually got medically separated from the guard, but I finally finished an LPN program & am now trying to find an RN bridge program. I love your videos! However, the nursing school journey needs more light shown on it bc it is hellacious! Everyone you interview makes it seem easy.😂

I am still brainstorming if its worth it to give up being a Nurse in Kaiser to join the military.

You can always go back to Kaiser later in life if joining the military is something you've always wanted to do.

Don’t join the military. My dad was in for 20 years and ever since I swear to myself I will never join.

I’m sorry you had that experience. The military was a great stepping stone for me into my nursing journey and I wish it was a great experience for everyone.
