Okay, Okay; first let me say this is NOT the qualification for the CIA. It is for a different "Other Government Agency."
They asked that we do NOT share the name of the agency. I know it is already "open source", but I respect their wishes.
So, for all you monkeys trying to show off that you know: SHUT the F#CK Up.
It is still a fun test that only takes 30rds of ammo; which is a big deal when ammo is hard to find.
Now, before you guys start bashing Chad and Imri for "Shooting like Shit;" I want to remind everyone that, unlike other channels, we don't mind showing mistakes; and this was also literally their FIRST TIME EVER even hearing about this qualification. Zero rehearsals; Zero warm ups; Zero Re-shoots. Plus, to add to the pain, we held these two monkeys to only "high A-zone" hits, which is our personal standard at Tactical Rifleman.
The whole point of this test was to show that you need to get out of your "normal" drills & tests, and try new drills, to make the mind work. We even had Chad run this "Pistol" qualification with his Rifle; not to screw him, but to show it doesn't matter... work through the task and complete the drill. If you only practice one test, you will only be good at one test. Try every manipulation and drill you can find, and you will have a subconscious mind honed by training that will not let you down at the moment of truth.
Here's the standards for you to try this at home:
General Requirements
 Fire 30 Total Rounds
 7 Stages (Drills) with Various Courses of Fire

It's not about the agency and who's test is "harder", it's about varying your training enough that you don't become complacent. The reason I say this is that I am only shooting at the TSA qualification level, I hope to pass the IRS qualification level soon though!

I love the drill and copied it from the description for my own use. Just an observation, but during the kneeling portion of stage 7, rounds were impacting high on the berm. Not a safety infractions, but a shorter shooter could possibly have overshot the berm. Just to make you aware. Thanks for bringing great content like this!
@TacticalRifleman
@TacticalRifleman 3 года назад
Agreed. For shorter shooters, place the target lower to the ground. An added benefit of training at The Range Complex is that they own MAX Distance of all small arms rounds used of these ranges. Many privately owned ranges do not, and rely on berms for containment.

Don’t forget to take your 24 hour safety corse cost roughly = $1,200.00, your AG approved psychology exam, being a specific specialized government requirement cost roughly = $500.00, insurance/fee cost=$800.00, license fee cost roughly =200.00. And don’t forget to bribe your ex wife to put in a good word for you variable cost $0 to 5,000,000.00. Congratulation; you can legally buy that box of 308. You always wanted. 🤣🤣🤣 this is way gooder than I had imagined! When chad said he couldn't count, I really thought it would be on a 1 shot. It's just our habit to send 2 rounds. But seeing @Chad Hulsizer not be able to count to six..... NOT EVER.... That was just hilarious! That said, both of these nutbags ..... Ummm I mean "gentlemen" did well! I took this same test this past year with a buddy (a support Contractor) and I didn't pass the first time I ran it. That was with THEIR standard. I was trigger happy. Because 2 is 1 and 1 is none.....?? I digress..... Don't feel bad Men. You did pretty damn good. Chad, you have everything working against you.... Like being a lefty, taking a pistol qual with a rifle, etc. But clearly, having those asian sniper eyeballs are where it's at.... 🤣 I know you wanted all of the poor mathematics edited out..... But You still did good. Really this just proves that you really are Part American....... And of course we eat this shit up. Lol! Thanks @Tactical Rifleman! Awesome show of shenanigans once again. Good video and I enjoyed watching in and will be running this qual at my range next chance I get. I believe this is a good pistol qual, at least for the intended personnel. For obvious reasons, it does not have shooting from cover and some other things most State and Local agencies include, it is more specific to there occupation. Somebody may have already stated, but I believe this test also requires drawing from concealment and reloads are from a fully loaded firearm. Also the hit zone is about half that of what you showed on your target, but still more than you allowed.

The rifle reloads really highlight the importance of checking your mag fit with your lower. If the mags fell free the reloads would have been much faster and probably within the qual time limit
@chadhulsizer
@chadhulsizer 3 года назад
While mag fit is important, the time during reload is part of being a left handed shooter without an ambidextrous mag release, mags falling free not the issue. While I am pushing the button you are grabbing your new mag, That is where the time went. Fortunately all my rifles have ambidextrous bolt releases so that shaves some time, but a non ambidextrous AR in a left handed shooters hands is slower for manipulations. With practice you can be faster but will most always be slower with all other things being equal. Thanks for watching.

Government agency I work for. 50 rounds. Uspsa, giant target. 47 to pass. 2 shots from 25 yards. Police challenge drill at 15. Then most of the rest are inside 10. It's tough lol

Excellent stuff! I never knew the OGA (U.S. Dept. of Basket Weaving) had this test! But seriously, all good drills AND tracking your progress (keeping notes, etc.) is an excellent way of getting better. 👍

Emory just needs to remember that old chestnut.. "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" and, very slowly, concentrate on the simultaneous actions of angling the pistol,, pressing the button and dropping the spent mag while, simultaneously, his other hand moves for the new mag. Then gradually concentrate on make those moves faster. You can see, from this angle, how jerky his motions were. We often bypass the study of physiology and the efficiency of motion and, instead, push the concept of faster rather than the concept of smoother. Only by breaking things down into individual movements and examining each one individually, can we determine which are proper, which are redundant and which need to be eliminated completely. He could drop a full second, easily. Then start actually improving from there. Chad's counting screw-up is very poignant and indicative of what is currently wrong with the way a lot of people are learning to train today. They get very much "in a groove" and do not mix it up enough for the brain to overcome muscle memory. Muscle memory is a good thing but, can also be a real negative if not kept in check. I'm sure he was saying to himself "6 shots, 6 shots ..." and then immediately proceeded to "fire five rounds, fire." (which is a common, military range practice). It wasn't until you cracked the code of his mindset and told him to fire the 5, then send 1 that he finally overcame the habit of firing 5 rounds at a time (I'm sure he can count to 6). ;) This also ends up being a very large problem for people who practice the quick, "draw-aim-shoot" and "tap-rack-bang" drills. With DAS drills, people become so ingrained with aiming and firing in a set cadence, as fast as they can, that when the time comes to change shot counts or to draw, aim and NOT fire, they can't do it. Whether training on a range or faced with a "live" situation (such as home defense, etc.), the gun comes up and, as soon as the sight drops on target, *BANG* .. The problem with this is, what if you draw and aim and, just as the trigger moves, you realize that your staring at a "friendly?" Maybe even your wife or kid? It happens. And I've trained enough people who can't stop or delay their shot, even when I'm saying into their ear "draw and aim, do not fire." (sound familiar, Karl?) lol It's very important to vary training routines regularly so the finger is ultimately controlled by the mind, first, then the muscles. Change shot count, cadence and mix speed drills with accuracy drills as part of your routine. I mentioned tap-rack-bang drills. One thing gets overlooked in training with today's ammo... And that one thing can get you or someone else killed. That thing is a "hangfire." It's very true that modern ammunition is very dependable and malfunctions are much more rare. Its also true that people don't change. We still make mistakes, like getting contaminants on ammo that's too close to the cleaning area for your maintenance or trying to clean some surface rust off ammo that sat out too long (just ask Matt at CRS Firearms). But, I digress... When you do tap-rack-bang drills, people immediately follow the misfire by pulling their weapon off target and tapping the mag. The problem is that a hangfire, which is a delay in the ignition of the main powder charge of a cartridge after the primer strike, can take anywhere from an almost imperceptible amount of time to several seconds to occur. So, when your gun doesn't go bang, train to pause a few seconds before taking the weapon off-target, *continuing to keep the muzzle pointing down range* and then proceed with the drill. We aren't practicing in actual combat conditions, so the safety buffer allowed by training to wait is much more easily removed when you're under fire and that 3 seconds may make the difference, than it is to try to remember to add time when you're constantly training for instantaneous reaction. Now, then... For those who are about to tell me I'm crazy and that hangfires can't happen, do a quick RU-vid search for "hangfire." They can and do happen, though quite infrequently. However, it's the over confidence in trusting that something bad won't happen, as opposed to training for the possibility that something bad could happen that gets people killed. Trusting that every single round ever manufactured, especially with off-brand or hand loads, will never have a malfunction is absolutely like playing Russian roulette, just with a lot more rounds in a giant cylinder. One day, luck *will* run out, for someone. Where do we think all the "hubbub" about negligent discharges comes from? It comes from being too trusting and lackadaisical attitudes. If you're going to train with repetitive drills, especially speed drills, understand that nothing is guaranteed to be the same and train to the side of appropriate caution and not to blind trust. I think the main point that I'm trying to make is, people are so involved with the minutiae of trying to shave off a couple seconds, or tenths of seconds, that they lose sight of the bigger picture. Your "other government agency" teaches awareness and control of the mind, as well as the body, so their agents, hopefully, will make the right choices when in the field. Thanks for "the good stuff."

Nice one brothers. And to add to the aspects of the timeframe of Agency-related quals, most of the time the qualification tests are every x amount of months (varies by agency and their contractors), with usually only one round of semi-drill or non-drill warmup beforehand with the same amount of rounds, so it's not like they're out there drilling this every day or even every weekend unless they're a big gun guy/gal or constant shooter (as time allows them in their line of high-demand work), sometimes it's the only time they fire their weapon in the entire span of service until the next test down the road and so on (especially right now with the lack of open ranges due to shutdowns/the plandemic and the winter season affect as that applies for outdoor facilities). Was cool to see it done with a rifle too, not too shabby.
