Technically, he could be one in the future. They have to take death blows to become one. And he's yet to get a death blow. So the second someone manages to shoot him in the heart, his immortality kicks in. Then you have to deal with a pissed off, immortal, John Wick.
John Wick is gonna get so pissed off when he realizes these people won't stay down. Andromache's crew are gonna get so pissed off because they've never died to a pencil before. Quynh meanwhile is generally just pissed off. Iron Maiden deep under the sea for 500+ years kinda does that to you.

We got a Highlander movie starring Charlize Theron. This movie was a win-win. If it had been an actual Highlander movie we would have not gotten such a charismatic actress to watch. It would have probably been some unknown.
The ending made me feel like there’s going to be a series....which I’m here for 🤷🏽♀️. Fingers crossed. Also can i just say i can’t wait for season two of The Boys and Umbrella academy

Same! Psuedo spoilers The moment I saw it I was like "that makes so much sense though! An iron cage in the ocean would rust and break down after centuries. Especially if there was someone inside constantly trying to break out" so it was a twist that actually made sense and wasn't just done for the hell of it!
It's funny, but the ending to the Snowpiercer season did a similar trick. (snowpierecer spoiler incoming): Make you think Connelly's daughter is dead the whole series because Connelly did something bad, only to have her appear alive at the end w/ a chip on her shoulder. EXACT SAME THING.

Mortals give up searching for their missing family is because their life is short, it's unwise to spend their time like that (and the probability of their loved ones being alive is slim) . But Andy is freaking immortal, she has all the time in the world! So is Quinn(?), her suffering could last a very long time! What's more important for Andy in her thousand years of life to do , than to rescue her partner from endless suffering? If the same thing happens to Nicky, you bet Joe would Never give up , no matter what it takes. So imo Quinn has every right to hate Andy and I hope she' ll get her revenge.

Also worth a mention that the screenplay is by Greg Rucka. He's a great writer behind comic book runs in Batman, Wonder Woman, Star Wars, Perfect Dark, Wolverine, Dragon Age and some others. He also published a "The Old Guard" comic book in 2017. A bit different from the movie though- as far as Andromache goes. But still well-done!
Watched it literally last night with my brother. It was actually pretty decent. A bit predictable and cliche at times but still a good time. Hell, I even called the twist at the end almost as soon as that character got introduced and what happened to her. By far Booker was my favorite actor and character. I still very much think this would have been 100x better as a show. So much more possible with a multiple 1 hour episode. more lore, more flash-backs, etc. Easy to say, I'll watch the next one if it ever happens
meeran haq if you are talking about what I think you are, I’m sorry, but that’s not a “twist”, more like a reveal. Twist imply that we as an audience (sometimes along with characters) are given new information that change our perception/perspective of some events/characters. What happen at the end is a nice reveal that set up possible future sequels, but in no ways does it change anything that we saw during the movie.
Movie was okey. A bit cliché with the twist and the end but hey, I guess that's okey. A bit SJW-ish however it didn't hit you over the head with it. The highlander themed played in my head all the time.

This was actually one of Netflix’s ‘good’ movies, was pleasantly surprised by this one! Also had some really kick ass action and gun violence similar to John Wick.
John Wick has some of the best gun violence ever put on screen. It also understands how guns work. In this film you see fully armored guards instantly die from a single 9mm shot. Can't really compare the two

I watched it, I enjoyed it and I've found myself wanting to watch "the next episode" in the way that it was so watchable and enjoyable that I'm looking for more

Totally agree. If I had paid $11 plus another $10-15 for concessions, I would have been underwhelmed. But watching it at home with free snacks, I loved it. Same with Extraction.
I really liked this movie. It was simple in a good way. They leaned into the characters and not the action (which was gun-fu but a notch below John Wick) and that's why I liked.
DAMN this movie was a lot more emotionally heavy than it seems. The pop music BG makes it very netflixy but it's forgivable when it's scripted and acted well!!
I really liked this film and found it very interesting for what it was. It had strong theming around the concepts of life, death, and of course immortality. One of the more interesting ideas being that the "immortals" weren't immortal in the usual sense. All things die, and each time one of them dies you can see that the others don't treat it like it's nothing, the stakes are very real for them because, like everyone else, they have no idea what happens when they die or when their time will run out. They just have more of it.
Yea I didn’t feel like it was a straight to Netflix kind of movie. I loved it. You could really feel like they had been fighting together as a team for hundreds of years. The team based combat was really awesome. And even as someone who is straight I thought the relationship between the two gay characters was so amazing. You could really feel the love between them.
When you said it felt like “that one movie that got cancelled after the first season” did you mean the one about the immortal dude who lives in this antique store with his son? The dude from Harrow plays him I think
Found the first act pretty good, but when it came to the new recruit asking plenty questions that weren't answered, it got quite frustrating to me. The second act just didn't cut it. I would give it an overall 6/10 but I am quite glad there hopefully will be a part 2 cuz some things really need to be straightened out.

@Jeremy Jahns. Hello Jezz. I'm a BIG FAN of your movie reviews. 🖒👍 I watched this movie a few days ago and I wasn't sure about it at first but then the movie drew me in a way like Tomb Raider did years back. I thought the moral of the story WAS SO COOL and who wouldn't want to be IMMORTAL?!?
I want to know about the TV show he was talking about that he said was going to spoil this. I think I might want to watch it even though it's only one season. I feel like he's talking about Firefly I don't know why I just feel that way to me.
My only problems with the movie is the soundtrack choice and somewhat young adult feel at certain parts. Other than that though, loved it and I am in love with the concept.
spoiler and theory guessing: If I had to write a trilogy out of this mess of a first movie (it's not bad. it just has no direction) I would make the second movie a sort of "misguided allies" arc where the two characters at the end of this movie team up against Charlize Theron and her crew. Lots of excuses for flashback sequences and character development, at the expense of good story telling and narration. You can explore the guy's feelings of rejection and the woman's feelings of abandonment. However you need to have a hook for the third movie. So a new bad guy needs to be introduced that the two parties need to team up against to defeat. At the end of the movie they figure out whatever miscommunication / trust problems and team up in a huge group. And of course you have to write in an explanation for Charlize Theron's character losing the ability to heal. Give it back to her Third movie they take down the big baddie and live to fight another day. Probably throw some of the jobbers or even Charlize Theron under the bus because we can't have a trilogy without people dying...otherwise where's the fake outrage?
did you entirely miss the point of the movie? That small acts of kindness can lead to great good, that people are not meant to be alone. "to save one life is to save the world'... It most definitely had a direction, a theme and a point.

I think you are being too easy on movies at home, Jeremy. People talking in this movie are so cringe. "Where are they?" - "You can trust me". Who speaks like that? I needed some alcohol for this movie for sure.
Charlize Theron was the only redeeming part of the movie. The girl who played Nile can’t even act and it’s as if they forced her into the movie as they wanted a woman of color to play the hero yet they still put Charlize center stage so the character Nile pretty much seemed like she was forced. Also had to have a homosexual couple that met and fell in love while fighting in the crusades. A gay knight, seriously? That’s like having an Isis member that believes in women’s rights and accepts Christianity in his community. I’m all for diversity but I’m starting to see that Jeremy is a bit of a shill that only wants to appeal to the politically correct or to the masses.

I just felt like it wasn’t well done. The fight scenes felt meh and the actors just didn’t convince me they were elite mercenaries with decades of experience. It wasn’t detailed enough.

4:30 when the movie theatres come back all movies "will feel like Netflix movies" that's the legacy and impact of the Corona virus of 2019/2020. I hope Hollywood starts to simultaneously release films on the big and small screen or at least develop a business model that can sustain both.
