Doesn’t Steve Buscemi’s character in Con-Air, seem incredibly similar to his character in Armageddon? Like they’re both crazy but geniuses at the same time.
Similar-ish but definitely not the same. In Conair, he's crazy right from the start whereas in Arm he *eventually* becomes a little crazy. Also, in Arm, he is a genius but in Conair, he is ....witty, with an introspective outlook. But definitely not any kind of genius.
I adore Con Air! Saw it in theaters back in the day... still have the VHS, the DVD and of course I have it on Blu-ray. The cinematography and scene blocking is so great. I mean... look at this shot right there 2:30 , with the helicopter hovering in the perfect position for the frame. They don't shoot movies like that anymore...
Interesting.... That scene with the little girl always stood out to me, too but in a positive way! Because she healed him by singing that song with him!
My favorite Nicholas Cage film would have to be Raising Arizona. A very different kind of Nick, and the Coen Brothers are always great to see in action. Also, that's pretty messed up the TV version would cut out the girl waving. Especially when all you see before that is an abandoned table, a broken tea cup, and Buscemi gripping a Barbie doll.
I will never be able to think of this movie without remembering Danny Trejo - a man who has been to prison - saying that on that set of big, manly men, the one dude who would scare him is John Cusack because he had “that glimmer in his eye” that basically said “don’t fuck with him.” I’ve never looked at Lloyd Dobler the same way since.
Lord of War was a great Nicholas Cage movie, probably one of my favorites. Wasn’t an action movie though, more of a thriller/drama. Still, I’d love to see you review it some time and see what your take on it is.
I was actually in Vegas at the time they were filming this and saw the plane in the front of the casino. Didn't see any stars but we only stood around for an hour or so, watching movies being made is boring.
rewatched recently and honestly.. it is quite an emotional story and hadles the drama so well and yet it is also erily disturbing and quaint, as well point and make fun type of vibe... the ending was great for me, necessary needed development and payoff even if not neccessary for the end of the story, it is! by the way, put THE BUNNAeY BACK IN THE BOX!!!!!!!!!!! you're forminind just... he, *falls to the floor, laughing* HEE HEE HEE HEE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! AlRight.
It's funny that you say that the made for tv version is darker then the full version. Even thro I saw it in the theater and on vhs I always blocked out the part that the girl dies and I just remember her not being shown again.
Con Air is one of those movies I watched when I was 12 or 13 that I really enjoyed the heck out of. Recently watched it again and turns out I still enjoy the heck out of it lmao
Theory: Garland Green had been in the prison system for so long, maybe even a State Hospital, to where he was aware of the crimes he had committed and his mental illness. Thus, him speaking calmly about the "Sickness" he has, and being able to deduct the other convict's traumatic experiences to the point where he was completely numb (maybe still on his meds) to everything around him and he simply did not care whether they escape or get caught because he repents or acknowledges his troubled past. Change my mind. lol
the part that bothers me is the ending. it looks as if they planned a separate ending and then changed it last minute. The whole ending from the firetruck ladder to the construction site and John falling through power lines makes no sense as you said but its beyond that. there's no way they planned that. It must have changed somehow during filming. it MUST have. they couldnt be that crazy. maybe he was meant to be falling off a tower which would make more sense.
Achoo: "People of Sherwood look at yourselves! Go ahead, take a look around. Oh people of Sherwood you been had. Hoodwinked! Bamboozled! Run amuck! We didn't land on Sherwood forest, Sherwood forest landed on us!"
Too bad he didn't do more intense roles like those where he could chew up the scenery. Imagine all the 90s action movies with bland villains and replace them with Malcovich
John Malkovich lived and went to school 30 minutes from my house and every once in a while he comes back to his home town and school. I meet him one time at the school it was pretty neat.
My ranking of the holy trinity is: 1. The Rock 2. Face Off 3. Con Air If I could include broken arrow, I’d slot that in as a joint second with face off
Drive Angry is another one of those dumb movies, which are so dumb that they are actually fun.... sad that the movie flopped tho, the actors were very enthusiastic for that movie
Cyrus: "Well, it's not difficult to surmise how Nathan here feels about killing guards and my own proclivities are, uh, well-known and, uh, often-lamented facts of penal lore."
@@williamhernandez2455 Do you know something... This is rare for me to say, as you can tell by the nature of my channel, but I have never seen that movie. Somehow it's escaped me all these years. Would you say that it falls in the same category as these movies "cheesy action"????
