I have one of these with thumb index but mine is genuine leather , you are correct thats their cowhide i like your cover pattern better. The genuine is the same though , its very thick and built like a tank the paper and print is nice .. It lays flat once ya work it in 😉 I also have the large print which is really nice print but I like the smaller text block. Love ya brother, hope you are doing good .
@@BibleFanatics Its funny out of all the Scofield CBP bibles I reviewed I no longer have any 😂 Gave them all away so now I have only the Oxford Press editions. Honestly I think I prefer the classic tough covers on this bible , they're not just good bibles but good memories
Do you prefer the more modern font of the updated Schofield or do you like this one? Do you also have the large print edition with the modern font and if so is the print and paper quality just as good as this edition?
That's a tough one for me personally. Both fonts are amazing. I do have a review of the large print Scofield with modern font on my channel. The paper tends to be a little more blue in color on the modern font editions and that can make it a distraction sometimes. But the nice thing is you never have broken letters like you do with the older font. If I only could have one I would lean toward the older font. Although the Scofield III is a great edition as well and I do like it's font better than the older font.
@@christiancurcio2576 So unfortunately it looks like I never made that video and have since given the bible away. But here is a review from the gentleman who owned before me and his review is a good one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A2u55gajGxY.htmlsi=5yAizfoBPDTQqwbA
Nice review! After using both the bonded and cowhide leather, what would you recommend? I prefer a softer and easier to bend leather. What is your recommendation? Thanks!
I would say if the nicer leather is your concern go with the cowhide. Although you may want to try local church bible publishers or Church Bible Publishers, which publish beautiful calfskin editions of these that have really good bend to them. If you are going for better paper then go the bonded leather route. Hope this helps!
@@BibleFanatics I have a couple CBP Scofield’s but the red letter is not consistent. Some pages are pink unfortunately. So I figured I would try an Oxford edition. I hear the red letter is much better but was concerned about how stiff the leather is. So you would say the paper is actually better on the bonded leather then the cowhide? Are the bonded and cowhide sewn bindings?
@@89afvet if you try local church biboe publishers they have non red letter editions that are good. Yes , to answer your question in my opinion the paper in the bonded leather is better.
Sorry to disappoint you but Scofield NEVER held to any of the Calvinistic ideas and there are no Calvinistic ideas or references in his Bible. I am an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist and I have used the Scofield Bible for many years and there is nothing that even hints at Calvinism at all.
Uhhh look at his notes on election and predestination. His notes on Ephesians 1 and I Peter 1:2 are pretty clearly calvinistic. Not only that Scofield was a congregstionalist and then a Presbyterian both of which hold to calvinism and for him to be a teacher and pastor in those groups he would have to affirm that doctrine. Also his notes on I Peter 1:20 are clearly calvinistc as he points to the fact that God by his foreknowledge chose or elected people and then predestinated them. This is pretty know I went to an independent Baptist College and many professors didn't like the Scofield because of this reason.
You are referring to the Calvinistic teaching that God chose those to Heaven or Hell before time began and that no matter what we choose our destination is set and unalterable ie those who accept Christ could be either going to Heaven or they could be going to Hell and that they won’t know their final destination until they die no matter what they do. Scofield teaches that those who would accept Christ as Lord and Savior God already knew what they would do by free choice something Calvinism doesn’t hold to but not all Congregationalists nor all Presbyterians hold to the Calvinistic doctrine and Scofield certainly didn’t. Also I have a King James Study Bible Full Color Edition published by Thomas Nelson and the annotations on Predestination and Foreknowledge are in agreement with what Scofield is saying and the Bible I have is definitely not Calvinistic in its notes.
@@anthonylowder6687 Okay, well everyone on his staff was and in his writings he is in his view of salvation. Those notes are not what independent Baptist believe on salvation. If you told a pastor in that group this is how salvation works they would look at you funny. But it's all good, glad you can use the bible in good conscience and that it blesses you. That is the main thing! It is a great study bible.
Also 1 Peter 1:20 in the Scofield notes is talking about those who God knows will be conformed to Christs image not their final distinction no matter what they do which is what Calvinism teaches.
