This has been a very interesting and difficult subject for me... I had God change my mind on somethings... like that all intersexed are male... I was deeply challenged by the fact that those with swyer syndrome causing their xy can give birth with hormones and egg donation... so now I feel faced with the choice between women being able to have xy chromosomes or men being able to give birth... I choose women being able to have an xy because only women can give birth... but they aren't the only intersexed or DSD capable of conception... so it really is a struggle to understand how if God made us male and female how we are to look at intersex and DSD biblically... I know that means with a lot of love, mercy, and grace...I mean I'm sure in biblical days... I am sure that some remained virgins and the men with certain conditions would have been known as eunuchs from birth, but what about those with DSD that have the ablity to function more normally and can be fertile? How does go view them... or the true hermaphrodites who have become pregnant with their own child spontaneously... I really wish I had someone to talk to about this stuff that loves Jesus and is will to wade into these difficult waters with me 🙏💛

The actually do tests. If a woman is over the testosterone limit; she needs to take medication. The Algerian woman is not transgender. She is a biological female with hyperandrogyny. And she takes medicine to lower her testosterone levels. Because it is medical information; it is not made public

Physician here. If an individual has XY sex chromosomes, that person has many structural differences to a women regardless of the presence or absence of male levels of testosterone(other hormones are involved as well). As the differences relate to strength and power as is important in many sports, the male skeleton is optimized for these attributes. Heavier, thicker bones, the biomechanics as it relates to joint angles and the application of power, force and thus strength are superior to that of a woman. There is no amount hormone manipulation, hoping, wishing, dreaming, rule changing or "gas lighting" that will change these fundamental facts the human genome has bestowed upon a genetically male(XY chromosomes) patient.

By following the rules, a swimmer can never hurt other athletes; boxers can, which is why there are separate categories even for the same sex. That's why we should care about the rules for each sport, not treat it like a simple/generic rule and ignore the potential consequences.

I believe the scripture addresses this when Jesus said: Matthew 19:12 *"For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb:* and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. Im a physician - excellent job explaining this. You’re the only person who explained the science … properly!!! The only point I would add, is that if she has Swyers syndrome, her Y chromosome is not functioning at all. That means no anti-mulliarian hormone, so no male gonads at all. This would be different from Caster, who has 5-ARDS - who IS a male because her Y chromosome is functioning. 5-ARDS is medically recognized as a condition that only affects boys (they underproduce testosterone). Swyers affects GIRLS - because they under produce estrogen and progesterone (they have fibrotic ovaries). Her testosterone, if it’s elevated, is neither here nor there. 15% of elite female athletes can have elevated testosterone (including those with pcos). Also. If she does have swyers syndrome, she’s more likely to be impacted by it (very brittle bones etc - so she’s had to overcome a lot in order to get where she is. It doesn’t give her an edge except for height. I guess lean body mass is arguable. Regardless - i have so much respect for you doing your research and for the last part. Im subscribing! I was seriously loosing faith in humanity and journalistic integrity LOL My husband took my phone away from me because I couldn’t stop watching videos and arguing with the screen Lol Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity :)

I empathize with anyone who is intersex and working through the identity issues that go along with that. May Christ give them peace and wisdom. Of course female athletes shouldn't have to compete against those with XY chromosomes. I just think it would be difficult to be raised as a girl your whole life and later find out you are XY and not XX. But whatever the case, online gossip and slander are incredibly ungodly. I just pray for truth in these situations and that the athletes would know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Both athletes are females though? I find your wording rather dehumanising because it seems to imply that someone born with female genitalia, raised female and can even give birth is somehow "less female" due to having XY chromosomes. I agree that it's a tricky situation, and also pray that anyone who is intersex roots their identity in Christ above all else, but I just don't agree with the distinction you made by saying "females shouldn't have to compete against someone with XY chromosomes."

@@docdray8546 Presence of XY doesn't mean you're "less female" it straight up means you ain't one. Everything is pointing to Khelif being a biological male with severely underdeveloped genitalia and sexual characteristics, enough to be confused with female ones at birth. The newborn are inspected visually to determine the sex. She's probably a very rare, genuine intersex specimen. And likely wasn't even aware until the whole WBA/IBC debacle a while back. Regardless - Khelif is unfit to participate with females, the unique biology gives her unfair advantages. And I say this not out of place of malice, but pragmatism - her performance makes it clear she's cut from a different sort of cloth than her competitors, and these ain't no local club fighters, but creme de la creme.

The facts that need to be seen to resolve this are the chromosome analysis along with an expert physician report who has examined the fighter including a genital exam. This report is just speculation. Nothing new here. IOC bungles again .

While truth does not inherently have a purpose but is just a statement of what is, in invoking the truth, you're inherently using it for a purpose. You can't say a fact without a reason for saying it. You can't seek for information without a reason for seeking it. While the truth is basically a state, our interaction with the truth can't be purposeless, so like he said, it should be used to help.

I think he's not paying attention to the information already out in the public. The athlete was tested and found to have xy chromosomes and that is why they were banned before from competing. In the 1960's, the Olympics lead in testings to examine and prove the female contenders a.) didn't males acting as females to participate as female contenders b.) didn't intersexual, what would give them physical advantages against their female opponents. Along the 20th century, many "female" athletes was dropped out of Olympics, because they were intersexual or they had DSD.

Create a chart like the Meyer's-Briggs one so people who need a label have it, but the world can stick with male and female as the delineating basis of identity.

Basically, XX and XXX are female. XY and XXY are male. The exceptions are Swyer and Klinefelter Symdromes, where the first applies to females and second applies to males. A DNA test with chromosomal typology test would eliminate any and all doubt.

You cannot develop broad wide shoulders, smaller hips and a male skeleton structure without fully developed testicles. Testicles cannot do this if they are internalized. This particular psudeohermaphodite syndrome itself is also FAR more rare than the rare XXY Klinefelter'a syndrome which is the bulk of intersex people. Most scientists would not even classify XXY males as intersex because many times it has no effect on them. They all appear as males with male genitalia.

An XY DND "female" would *NOT* have masculine features because the testicles would never fully develop if they were internal. Thus he would not have broad shoulders, or a skeleton structure that would resemble a male. His shoulders are wider than his hips, which means he had to have fully developed testicles. It's literally IMPOSSIBLE to have to this happen without fully developed male testes, that cannot happen in any other scenario, *NO EXCEPTIONS, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN.* Every genetic scientist, and I would say 95% of medical doctors KNOWS THIS, and knows that this intersex argument is an ABSOLUTE LIE told by the left. They are all simply too afraid to speak out. Honestly thats exatcly the conclusion i had once the controversy happened. My opinion on this is that IBA banned her from competing for a reason. The IOC didn't do any tests to check if the IBA was correct in its decision because they dislike the IBA. The olimpics should have taken this situation seriously before she even competed, but for the sake of not humiliating women in womens sport, they banned testing for chromosomes since the last olympics.

We as Christians ought to care about what is just. If we have a league for women that allows men or intersex people who had a large testosterone advantage during puberty, we destroy the ability of women and girls to compete. We could do two things to be fair: 1. Have an XX league and a league for all others 2. Have an XX league, an XY league, and a league for intersex (DSD) This athlete knew about the presence of Y chromosomes when tested several years ago, if not before. I am sorry for anyone who suffers any type of chromosomal abnormality which makes life more difficult. But we don't correct for disabilities or differences by creating unfair and dangerous situations for women. Just remember, we were told it was cruel to be skeptical about Caster Semenya's identity when he competed as a woman. He has since fathered a child with his wife. For the sake of fairness and safety, a chromosomal test should be the standard in adult sports. We can have compassion for Imane without wanting biological women to have their olympic chances derailed due to an unfair advantage.

Agreed. We should be compassionate towards Imane, but still uphold the truth. And the truth is, if Imane has a Y chromosome, he is male and should not be competing against women. The term “intersex” is also very misleading. You are either male or female, being intersex just means you have some genetic abnormalities with your sex chromosomes. For example, if you have Kleinfelter Syndrome, you have XXY instead of XY chromosomes. Because there is Y chromosome present, you are still male. You may have a micro penis that resembles a clitoris or an inverting of scrotal material that resembles an vagina or labia, but you would not have a uterus or fallopian tubes or ovaries, you would still have testes, vas deferens, etc. Being intersex does not make you some magical third gender, being intersex just means you are a physically deformed male or physically deformed female. If you’re XX, XO, XXX, you’re still female, if you’re XY, or XXY, you’re still male. Imagine if someone said people with Down syndrome are not human because they have 47 chromosomes instead of 46.

It’s very interesting that some African runners with the same condition were disqualified but these other non African men were not disqualified from boxing. 🤔 The most important note is: these men have been diagnosed and they are aware of their condition even if their birth certificate says they are female;they know they are male (check out the pictures of them going out at night…all male). Yet, here they are in the Olympics boxing women. So, it does look like some men just want to beat up on women in the Olympics. This is a sad day for women. Agree that this is not a transgender issue. It sounds like an intersex issue. And people with intersex disorders deserve our compassion, not our judgement for something they were born into of no fault of their own. However. The condition you described is someone with XY chromosomes (male), who's secondary sex characteristics may appear female due to how the body developed while in the womb. I understand that they as person may have appeared female at birth and been raised female. I also can comprehend (though of course could never fully understand) how incredibly difficult it would be to, perhaps much later in life, find out that despite having always thought you were a girl with girl body parts, you are genetically male and simply have underdeveloped male body parts. However. If this person has DSD, then he is genetically male, though he may not have the typical male sex characteristics. Ultimately, he should not have been allowed to compete against women. That's leadership's fault, not his. My heart goes out to all involved here. But the Olympic Committee should never have allowed this fight to have occured.

the test was unspecified, and not made public. The IBA director simply stating that "it has been confirmed it's XY chromosomes" is not a real result. Anybody can say that. that's the whole problem with misreporting. It's not a fact unless there's evidence to support it.

There is misinformation from all sides. Unfortunately, it is irrelevant what sex her father deems her to be because DSD clouds the situation. An individual with XY chromosomes, with this condition, could outwardly look female, but also have male genitalia. This is complex in that there can be enough testosterone for the individual to go through male puberty, in which case muscle development could be closer to male. There may not be a simple test for all of this, but perhaps a review of a persons medical history could reveal the real biological nature of the person involved. DSD is not one thing, so very complex. In any case, I think until such procedures are developed, out of an abundance of caution for the women boxer's safety, these people should not be allowed to compete. Many may deem this not fair, but ..... we need to protect women.

Good word brother. I was one of those people who were very upset when I heard on numerous conservative news channels that Keli was a trans man. I changed my view thanks to my sister doing the research I should’ve done. I then turned my disagreement to the conservative news outlets because none of them had mentioned her medical condition. There is no doubt that we all want fair treatment and fair play in sports. I don’t have a platform where people can listen to me speak falsehoods. Conservatives should do their job of researching before they speak because we don’t want to be like the left spilling out fake news. Blessings to all!

Look, I'm Arab and I speak Arabic. In the last interview with the boxer Imani Khalif, she stated that she is a biological female and that the entire controversy against her is politically motivated. First time I disagree whit you. The people ho allowed this person to compete against women is as responsible as him, he choose to compete against them knowing that he is much stronger and that he has a unfair advantage, as the boxing authorities of his country pointed out. Michael Jordan could be much bigger than his opponents but they could take a ball in their head without serious injuries... a man can easily cause a irreversible damage on a women in any sport. And I don't care if the medical documents will never be shared, that's a guy. I can see it, I don't need a doctor telling me that.

The issue is that we have drawn a line that allows women to have sports. This isn't a case where someone had to do a blood test to figure this out. You can look at him and see that he had XY chromosomes. The people who claimed that they had no evidence just stuck their heads in the sand. The blood test just confirmed what was obvious.

If you see someone with blue eyes, don't you think that comes from DNA from blueeyed parents? If you see someone with wide hips and full breasts, why wouldn't you think that is from XX chromosomes? And if you see someone with narrow hips and a flat chest, with thick muscular structure, why would you not think that comes from XY chromosomes? They may not know about the chromosomes, but even a five year old can tell the difference between those two.

Yes but this is an actual woman. Don't forget the word "ALGERIAN". Transgenderism is not recognised in her country. She probably has Mosaicism/Chimerism which makes most of her cells have XX chromosomes but some cells in her primary sexual organs have XY chromosomes and thus, elevated testosterone level but she is still a woman and has an ovum and a uterus and other stuff. Infact, depending on the severity of the condition, she may even be able to conceive and give birth to her own child.

I dunno man, I feel like a case like this should result in disqualification. He is genetically a male, just one with sexual developmental issues. I can have a little grace for the confusion that must cause, and I'm glad it wasn't a case of someone trying to game the system. But at the same time, when it comes to sports, the differences caused by having XY chromosomes - even if they're not *fully* expressed in their genitalia - still puts this boxer in the same camp as trans women when it comes to whether or not they should compete. Also, whether or not he was raised as a woman isn't really the point either. It's good info for understanding the context and not judging this person too harshly, but sporting competitions (especially more dangerous one like boxing) are a different ballgame.

I feel bad for Imane if he was told his whole life that he was a female. I cannot fathom how hard it might be to come to grips with reality of him finally being told has a Y chromosome. However, it still doesn’t excuse him to be in women’s sports, so I completely agree with your take. It wouldn’t surprise me with the kind of opening ceremony that they had, that they would also allow this to happen for some time now. Christians are called to be loving, but never to tolerate sin or sinful behavior. God will use anyone to expose truth.

The only weird thing about this is that we Christians can be just as stubborn as non Christians. Truth be told, we Christians jumped the gun in accusing her of being transgender. Many of us were not aware of DSD, although this isn’t anything new. The correct thing to do is to, unlike those who mocked the Last Supper in the Opening Ceremony, to sincerely apologize and keep it moving. Noe if you want to say her DSD condition is giving her unfair advantages, okay, then make that argument. But don’t slander someone based on your feelings and a corrupt Russian-led organization. Not a good look for us Christians in this case.

Biological advantages are always a part of sports. Mike Tyson had a biological advantage over most men. He was built like a tank! and his dominance in his sport was unprecedented. He was knocking opponents out in one round repeatedly. Thats not cheating. If you naturally get a biological advantage oh well. Thats what makes people smarter, faster, stronger and able to the best in competition. You all sound like participation trophy folks whining about it.

I feel bad for both women. Based on what's been reported about men competing, it makes women feel unsafe. I don't blame the boxers; it's the lack of support for women's rights. I second that sentiment-the XY individual with a health condition. I can understand the frustration. I, too, agree with the dishonesty of the Olympics authorities. Where I struggle and have compassion is whether the Algerian boxer knew or understood about their condition. Many people don't know they have it until a significant life event. I would encourage anyone to look it up. This is the only case where an individual has two sexes and is confused. It is a medical condition. I still stick to my first opinion: women should feel safe and be a part of the athletic community and not have questions if an individual is XX or XY because of safety issues.

There are very rare anomalies that occur in the womb; extra or missing chromosome: Klinefelter Syndrome (XXY), Jacob's syndrome (XYY), and a partial or missing X chromosome, Turner's Syndrome.
