Honestly, I have to say that while you don't post as often as some influencers, you produce the most life-changing content. Thank you. Also, your hair looks great. 😊
"Energy is your ability to be present" THIS! I have never read a truer description of energy in my life before, when I say I'm low on energy or I'm tired, what I actually mean is that I'm unable to focus or be present and it's vastly different from like, say, needing a nap bc I'm low on energy from sleep deprivation or something. They are vastly different and I'm so glad you described energy in this way bc it makes the most sense to me tbh
This is SO TRUE. It's really common to feel "tired," but instead of needing physical or mental rest, there's something else going on that's sapping your energy.
GREAT CONTENT!! Let me just share to these quotes that I like, "Focus on being productive instead of busy." -Tim Ferriss and "Sometimes, things may not go your way, but the effort should be there every single night."
This is such a breath of fresh air. I've been doing so much the past week from preparing for uni classes that start in a week and cramming all the undone tasks that accumulated during lockdown. It confuses me at the end of the day when I look at my journal, see all that I've accomplished yet not feeling the least bit happy or proud. I've watched all your "reset" videos, and they've helped me quite a lot. But this really does sound like a healthier way to go about things. Thank you so much, Rowena 💖💖
heyy I have a question. Whats chronic fatigue exactly? Cause I have 0 energy most of the time and at first I thought I had depression but I dont know whats actually wrong with me.
@@tamarachangbrahim4270 Try a blood test first as low energy can be caused by a number of deficiencies and things other than CFS/ME. Do you also get a lot of mysterious aches and pains? Does sleep actually restore any energy or no? Is it tiredness or fatigue? These questions might help, but at the end of the day you should speak to a dr about this.
@@tamarachangbrahim4270 chronic fatigue by itself is a symptom that can be caused by a whole lot of things so I second the recommendation to get blood tests to test for iron deficiency and other common things that can cause it. Chronic fatigue syndrome or CFS/ME is a separate illness and causes symptoms other than just a lack of energy.
Rowena! I would love to see more of your "7 mindset habits" videos however you could do a sub-series and have themes, like "Consistency mindset habits" or "Self love Mindset habits", "Relationship mindset habits". Id love to see you come up with this content - your 7 mindset habits series is such an underrated form of content in the self love/ self care community.
this is so late but thank you for the most brilliant idea!! I started with the insecurities video and will be creating one for overcoming challenges this weekend ;) digging through comments to find this specific one so I can screenshot & overlay into my video hehe THANK U AGAIN 💕 merry christmas to the sweetest potate!! 🎄
If you're a person with an uterus and you're not on hormonal birth control then it is super interesting to notice how your energy levels change throughout your cycle! :)
This reminds me a lot of what I learned in cognitive psychology- everyone has a different cognitive peak! You can take the morningness-eveningness questionnaire or just self-reflect to figure out when your energy tends to be at its highest- and do important tasks during these times. It’s been proven that if you take tests or do work during your personal cognitive peak, you perform much better!
Ughh dude you’re taking me back to old rowena days. I remember years ago idk what you said but it made me leave my boyfriend and start this journey to loving myself and living my best life. I remember all your advice being able to help me through sooo much at this stage of growing up. I’m 23 now and have never felt these productivity issues to be more beneficial then they’re to me now. The 80/20 rule really took me back .. I lost touch but I’m back now and appreciate these videos even more then I did before. Thank you queen ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You always come through right when I need it: I've been trying to figure out my post-breakfast energy crash for a while now. I've gotten a really great morning routine that puts me in a fantastic mood and focused and ready to tackle the day, but, gotta eat, and once I've eaten, I feel heavy and sluggish and ready to curl up and mindlessly watch just one.... more.... video....... but now I'm starting to figure out, okay, yes, rest while you're eating, don't try to multi-task or already be stressing out about not crashing, but after, get up and go sit outside. Get my meditative me-time out in nature done right from the gate so that I'm replenished and ready to be productive and focused. 🍠💚🍠💚🍠💚🍠
I was feeling so terrible and depressed these past few days but after watching this video I don't know how all of a sudden I felt energised and motivated. thank you so much. I love you and yes I subscribed 😁😁😁😁😁😁❤️❤️
I’m shook, it’s like you KNOW what I am currently struggling with😱 I have been so focused on creating the perfect time schedule to complete tasks. Therefore, I burn myself out and end up not being able to do the things I want, like journaling or drawing. This explains why I have been struggling to sleep too, since I become negative towards myself at the end of the day for feeling like I didn’t tackle all tasks for the day. THANK YOU FOR THIS❤️💕
I love that this model takes into account seasonality. I had a very tough year where I battled the worst depressive episode of my life as well as completing my final year of college (so writing a thesis, doing exams that recap two years' worth of material), getting therapy and working deeply on emotional issues, all while I was isolated from everyone during a pandemic ._. needless to say, though I moved back home afterwards, I had a couple of months where I felt pretty dead inside and very unmotivated. Am recovering some of my life energy back, however, and feeling much better in general, so I think I just needed that period of recovery! Thank you for the video, you've given me a bit more perspective on this and I feel less guilty about taking those two months to do literally nothing XD (except cooking tbh. I cooked a lot. and listened to podcasts. and forced myself to apply for jobs I had no passion for.)
The way you teach/share is so well organized and clearly presented! Thank you for taking the time to read these books, research, and rework it in a way that's easy to digest as a viewer. You have my vote as one of the G.O.A.Ts in this space
I read Essentialism book as recommended in a prev vlog of yours. Has had a huge impact on the way I view life. Thank you! Your channel is an inspiration. Always great tips. Ps am growing sweet potatoes. grows as pot plant in doors...just plant a small sprouting one :)
That was actually helpful! I clicked on this to play as background while getting ready for my day, but halfway through found myself tuning in. When I see a slick looking thumbnail and a productivity related video title I expect to see some combination of rambling about common sense advice, a morning routine that is unrealistic for many, and shameless promotion of a sponsoring product “this adaptogen coffee/vitamin gummy/hunk of jade I roll on my face is key to my success and self actualization.” Thanks for not doing that.
I’ve never heard of this method but I think I’m gonna try it! I have a chronic illness that results in fatigue, and I have a lot of work and passions that I want to peruse but I never have the energy. Thanks for making this video I think it’ll help me out a lot! 🥰
Rowena, your content is so insightful and I always feel such a compassionate and positive energy from you 💜🥔 Thank you for giving us tools to help understand ourselves. Transitioning from a time to an energy mindset has been a huge part of my own journey to becoming a fuller version of myself and the guidance you share here and in your other videos has opened many doorways towards clarity for me. Huge gratitude for you ✨💕
Loving this concept. As an energy feeling person myself, there are times when I feel drained of energy and not wanting to do any work and times when I feel like I can do everything. Thanks for calling me to finally notice the patterns so I can observe and react accordingly instead of just napping or astral projecting when i feel the dip and cramming all my work into when I feel the peaks. (I literally skip meals.)
I was just rewatching all of your old videos because I missed you!! So glad you posted. I'm currently in my pyjamas at 1pm procrastinating filming my next youtube video. Now I feel ready
This concept is so f***cking important for people with adhd and I’m genuinely so frustrated that it’s taken me this long to hear about it - the amount of self loathing and burn out I’ve experienced from trying to maintain a regular, strict, unchanging schedule instead of allowing for the energy swings associated with ADHD is just insane
Another key thing that you can implement is letting yourself do tiny pieces of a big task that you don't really want to do. Doing part of it that is so easy you could do it anytime will allow you to start easily. After taking that step you will realize that there is more to you than you thought. Now you may chose to keep going or to stop (most of the time, you will continue).
I just love how your eye shadow matches the flower in the background. This harmonic color palette just matches the content of this video so well and makes the overall video so so calming while being informative. *hugs back to you*
Rowena, I wanted to thank you for such helpful and inspiring videos that has assisted in my healing journey to get back to a more intentional way of functioning. My healthy, young ( 30 years old ) husband had a severe stroke this year that put him in the ICU. The event literally sent our lives into a hard halt. I believe that I was heading for a major burnout ( something I had never experienced before ) that instantly took place after the traumatic event. I could only focus on his healing and nothing else for the longest time. I’m thankful to say that he is on the mend. Your gentle tips have helped to inspire me to move in a more healing and intentional way. I might not be able to get everything in my life prioritized right away, I might not be able to make quick and dramatic changes like I was able to a year ago. However, I’ve been able to take small steps in this healing journey of motivating myself and prioritizing the things that I value and I think these lessons I’ve learned will assist in bringing much needed stability. Thank you for sharing your insights on your own journey. I’ve really appreciated listening and learning from you.
Personally I love to combine the two from something I learned from one of your videos: for 90 minutes work hard and then a resting period for around 20-30 mins hehe and I do that 2-4 times a day to get those top things off my to do list and then i fully give up on everything when im content and focus on self care
Rowena you could post once a year (Id cry maybe but ok) Id still be super grateful of it. You and my husband ARE the 2 people that got me out of a huge valley of depression. Im in a totally different and better place and will continue to read the books you recommend. Also I didnt finish essentialism, I felt it just went over and over the same thing and that I already learnt what I had to from that book. Thank you so much for existing!
Rowena you have no idea I needed one of your encouraging videos right now. I’ve felt such lack of energy lately it’s insane. Ive been on a constant cycle of wanting to be productive at 3 am making plans for tmr and by the time I wake up for the day I’m burned out and feel useless. Thank you so much for your work and your constant inspiration ❤️
Thank you so so much for your valuable content! Please keep doing it 😍😍 I love everything from your videos: the structure, the subject (btw really original), the quotes, the aesthetic, everything 🥰
🍠I love the distinction between energy management and time management. I think paying attention to my energy levels will help me out a lot more. Also, a thunderstorm sounds amazing and where I live, we nearly never get them. Seattle is hot AF right now.
i've needed this so much. online school has been stressful because i'm behind because this week has been busy with personal stuff and my coping mechanism is taking a day to blast through as much of it as possible which results in me having little to no motivation the next day and procrastinating.
Aaagh, too many good quotes :D Almost overwhelming. Which ones do I put on my fridge now? I'd also like to add that this topic is pretty linked to self-esteem. On one hand low self esteem creates a feeling of having little agency, which reduces motivation, which makes you depressed and even more self-degrading. On the other, if you increase that control over your life, and if you have more energy in general your self-esteem will most likely rise. P.s. Sweet potatoes is the cutest community name ^^
Thank you for mentioning that you snooze for hours! Literally I feel so seen and like less of a bad person. I've struggled with this for years. I'm going to look and see if you have a video about sleep. Thank you!
When you were talking about activating your body by going for a walk after eating rather than slumping on the couch watching Netflix, it reminded me of my own system I have been using to manage mental health. There are 'activating' and 'soothing' activities, that therapists, doctors and other health professionals recommend for you depending on your 'mood' or 'energy'. When you are feeling low (such as food coma) there are certain uplifting activities you can do (such as the walk you recommended). Conversely, if you've been working for 10 hours straight and feeling anxious, a skincare routine or listening to music helps to 'soothe' the system. Even if you don't have a mental health diagnosis, your body is also producing cortisol and other hormones when stressed, so soothing acitivies after a really big day of work or any activity you find stressful will really help to lower your stress hormones.
This is exactly what I was looking for this week. I’ve been struggling with balance and maintaining my energy. Thank you! I look forward to your next video 💗
I’ve been doing this without even realizing it! My meds don’t work unless I’ve slept and eaten well so I am always aware of when I need to rest or refuel to keep my energy up and make my meds worth taking. Pre-corona I would sometimes get to campus and take an untimed nap before starting on my schoolwork. From a time-management perspective, that’s probably the worst idea ever, but from an energy-management perspective, it makes plenty of sense. And it did work in restoring the energy I lost on getting ready and commuting!
I've very recently picked up on my reading 📖. And, Rowena, I have to thank you - your digestible advice, your book recommendations, and the way you say 'sweetest potatoes' ✨ - it's the constant motivation that keeps me striving for improvement. 😊
💕 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 love this channel, new subscriber. So positive and makes me love me where I am, while improving on my systems that can create more joy, presently.
this video was so helpful! i aalllwsys get in food coma, and i end up sleeping. today i napped for 4 hours. that's more than a half of my regular night's sleep!!! take away for me is to go for a small walk around the block after my meals!
I paused the video to read your to-do list lol Btw I LOVE you and your videos, you have such a warm, soothing energy. I always watch you when I'm super anxious because your voice is super soothing, PLUS you give amazing advice
Just discovered you! Love what you are doing! Yay! Will check out Smarter, Better, Faster, LOVE Essentialism and Atomic Habits. James Clear has a good Podcast interview on the Jordan Harbinger show 🥰
“Track your energy” Me: Energy high Goes to work: Energy‘s dead x_x :/ But this is really nice! Time and energy management are great things! I just need to switch jobs lol. I want to become a tattoo artist.. hopefully in a few years.
8:20 >>> That's true! My striatum shows me that I lack motivation, but because I believe that I'm in control, when I choose to play video games I play harder, push myself more, play more confidently, and overcome high scores faster. 😅
Hey love first time visiting your channel... and it was a pleasurable experience. Kudos. I had to leave a comment because I didn't even know this 🍠 existed. 🤣 Here's a few more since this was my first time 🍠 🍠 🍠 😉.
Completely agree with it being better to commit to 1 thing and following through on it than being overambitious and not following through on any of my commitments.
