TODAY I COMMIT MYSELF TO……. 1. The intention should be singular and consequential 2. Set your intention as early in the morning as possible 3. Can be completed in a few seconds or can be meditated for hours 4. Setting the intention in the morning doesn’t eliminate distractions 5. It is not the only thing you do that day 6. The intention may change everyday or it might stay the same 7. Setting your intention is easier over time
I think one I could do every single day is, today I commit to not letting myself become discouraged or the lack of joy about the monotony of the daily grind. (Well you know. It’s just the whole thing like you clean it, they mess it up etc. Rinse. Repeat forever and a day. So I want to stop looking at it that way. Or something like time to make the donuts...again...and how he says it in the commercial is how I feel. Almost zombie like). I have to remember that there is rhyme and reason to it and that there are rewards for it. I try to get past the whole Ecclesiastes vibe. Such as “everything under the sun is vanity (empty).” Sometimes it really does get to feeling like a forever hamster wheel tho. And Bcuz hamster wheels never go anywhere. Just round and round it goes over and over. You start where you ended. And you end where you started. And some days you really do wonder why or why bother. So maybe my intention should rather be today I will find something to break the monotony. Today I will shake at least one thing up and make some fun for myself. Today I will not let myself get bogged down or burnt out or lost in what all “needs to get done.”
May I suggest that you put your intention into positive ideas, which means not using the word “not” in them? It will be easier for you to focus on the positive intent. You could also say something like, “Today I avoid getting stuck…” or whatever works better for you. Your mind focuses on the words you use. Like, what would be the opposite of getting bogged down? What would be better? Would it be going with the flow? Looking for at least one little positive thing in a situation? Having a healthy perspective? I hope this helps you somehow. 🙏
Yh i also liked that you changed it from a 'not feeling something' to 'doing something different' I get thsi feeling as a mum. But honestly this is her childhood and the days she has with me before the baby is is here. The most important thing in my life is what i will have given her and the baby in my presence, how it effects their lives with traumas or connection and acceptance and peace in our relationship and therefore themselves. They deserve better and so do I. Nothing is that important even though it seems so important but there will always be laundry and dishes and mess and clutter but that day with her and then the baby will never return and how i am present with her how i act and show my emotions how to deal with myself and her whilst overwhelmed and how i smile when i look at her if i just take a secomd to look at her tiny face as it changes.... thats what i need to focus on more than whatever else is happening around us.
You gave me 2 good ideas to for the intention. In Islam its called the Niyah. With every action we can make it an act of worship to God to be fulfilling our responsibilities over the blessings he has given us and overall every action as a parent is then act of worship. But you reminded me to just take a few seconds throughout the day to intentionally smile and show love to my child whilst looking at them. In those difficult moments of co-regulation and empathising through a tantrum it helps so much to just look at how tiny she is and realise she hasn't got the prefrontal cortex ability because she is so small still and to look at her eyes and the crease by her mouth and the little baby hairs on her face and how soft her skin is. Im so emotional right now but this helps sooooo much.
So great. Focus. Planning. Motivation. Today I commit myself to getting stuff done. Today I commit myself to living in the moment. Today I commit myself to music.
@@zaraallysha examples are basically what I intend for the day to be like, it will be that. Whatever I plan to do, everything is being done. I just have to set the right intention and say TODAY----- fill the blank with your intention for that day. Hope that helps.
Today I commit myself to work on my taxes Today I commit myself to exercise/walk for 20 minutes Today I commit myself to being grateful for the blessings in my life
Today I commit myself to practicing making time to create and work toward becoming the best version of myself. Practicing writing to speak my truth, working out to build a stronger body and mind, and willing my mind to act upon my intentions and being mindful of where I wish to direct my energy from where I set my Intention to continue working toward living Intentionally!
Some helpful questions that might help to set an intention for the day - 1)what are the 2-3 most important things that you want to accomplish in your life? Does one stand out above the others? 2) Is there a role in ur life that you feel compelled to succeed at? 3) Is there an overarching spiritual belief or worldwide view that helps you make sense of the world or motivates you? Does that motivate you to live a full life? 4) What current healthy life change are u pursuing? 5) When you close ur eyes at night what daily accomplishments leaves you feeling the most fulfilled? Intentional living is one of the best gifts we can ever give ourselves . It's also one of the most significant gifts we can give to the people we love and the world around us Today I choose to live an intentional life.
This is fantastic. Prior to watching this video, I had trouble trying to understand this concept and how to do it. Thankyou!! I finally now understand.
I have been watching you guys for such a long time and going through life stages qith! Kids growing up, etc. honestly, the first time you started talking I thought man this guy has a preacher calling on his life lol I just wanted to let you know you’re still going strong and I still love watching you and your wife so much! We’re from the Chicago area and please never stop! To the first minimalist!
Love this idea, and I am starting this today. It is so easy to lose focus through my busy day, and I believe this will help. Thank you, again, for sharing your valuable ideas.
Thank you! What a powerful plan to help us get through life. This helps to center us and to help us focus on what is most important rather than the whole big, scary picture that can be overwhelming. Your videos are the best, so calming and sincere. I, for one, really appreciate the fact that you speak clearly and with the intention of helping people to live better. You are a blessing! 😊
Joshua got me set up with keeping my to do list (i'm a list maker) to 3 items....When they are done, i can always add 3 more if i need to. I also say a similar sentence with "Today I will....." and that is a promise to the most important person in my whole life. ME Because if I do not take care of myself, no one will. When i care for me, I am now free to give, without attachment, to others....WITHIN REASON. I have BOUNDARIES that cannot be crossed, that is not allowed.
Mr. Becker ~ Can you please share what your spiritual mentor had that statement filled in with when he gave it to you?? Thank you for all that you share and all that you do to help your audience learn and grow. 🙏😊💜

Oh yes, this. It’s so easy to forget to listen with care or drift away part-way through… And it can be hard! But rewarding also. Appreciate the reminder, thanks!🙏
You take ownership when you say this motivating motivating sentence. You become responsible. But never expect perfection from yourself, God does not expect it .
