I love my MacBook Pro 15". I received it from Full Sail taking a certification course. I was totally against MacBook before, until Windows 10 was killing me and crashing my gigs. (I always had a backup plugged in on channel 4, because of issues in the past) Now the MacBook so reliable, fast startup, no nagging updates in the middle of playing. Great job on the video.

Brand new MacBook Pro 15" last summer. Had a 2011 Macbook Pro and needed upgrading. I have GHz 6-core intel i9 32 GB of memory 1TB of memory with the four USB-C. I love it and it runs my software, my Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus mixer, and my XDJ 1000 Pioneer players. Wouldn't ever go to another computer.

I have a 2017 macbook and I love it. I originally hated not having USB inputs but once I bought a multi adapter (hdmi, USB input, c type charger) and an extra USB import for midi controllers or whatever else, I havnt wanted to look back ever since. So much faster and smoother and thanks to the serato dj pro with utilizes my retina display it looks beautiful.

Great video. Lots of options on Amazon for USB C adaptors or cables. In my Denon system coffin I installed a hub that has 3 USB A inputs and 1 USB C output. I plugged my 2 Denon SC 5000 media players and the X1800 mixer into the Hub. Since the Hub is powered I have one cable going up the my laptop that carries both the data and the signal. I haven’t had any issues. This is with a 2018 MACBOOK PRO 13 inch with touch-bar. My laptop also has 4 usb C inputs so I have lots of options.

Great video, you may want to check out DJ Tech Tools Chroma Cables, they are a lot thicker and have ferrite cores on them. They now offer USB-B to USB-C

I'm still using my 2011 MacBook pro. I haven't updated to a SSD yet, just a bump in ram. Rekordbox dj runs flawless with my ddj 1000 but my Serato using the Denon box with a turntable setup has issues at low latencies. I can't justify the cost to upgrade since all I use my MacBook for is djing. Btw, keep up the good work with these Vids.

I'm going to be using the powered anker 10 port hub for music production to plug in external instruments. This thing is not usb type C so the usb 3.0 to usb C adapter you said in the beginning you would recommend so I can plug in this anker hub to my 2018 macbook pro? 4 ports to connect usb instruments and 3 ports to charge or should I get a different usb hub?

I m think about buying MacBook Pro 14” M1 . But I’m think about transferring my music over to the sdd 1tb solid state drive that is on the MacBook Pro M1 . Because I’m getting tried of taking my hard drive with me . Would that be a good idea?

Im considering getting a USB Hub for my external... and DICERS... but I could get a Thunderbolt to USB 3.0 for only the hard drive... I know about using externals... its data weight is convenient.. but I do have on my laptop the essentials... the extra stuff is in the external.. but I am checking prices and options...

Dongles are the reason I'm shopping around for a 2014 15 inch macbook pro. Apparently the one with the dedicated graphics have the least issues. Source Louis Rossman

Kere Amohau I have the MacBook with dedicated card. I honestly haven’t had any problems except the touchbar in serato which I tuned off when I’m using serato. All other platforms run perfectly with the bar.

great video thank you for that last hub option! is it reliable? I have 2 midi keyboards, a 4k monitor, a mixer, and microsd/sd card all attached. I find on the hub I have to not output enough power.

I'm an IT professional/DJ, I have 2 2015 macbook pros...there was no reason to upgrade to a later generation until the 8th gen processors came out late last year. And until Apple fixes the keyboard issue, I still don't think there's any reason to upgrade. I think when the new 16 inch version comes out that should have all legacy ports and better thermals, that's the one to upgrade to.

I doubt they will bring back the legacy ports. That's not Apple’s style. The only thing I can see them doing is bringing back the SD card slot and hdmi but even that’s a long shot.

i got the 16inch. its alright. im not sure if its worth the upgrade for djing. wait for the 14 inch 2020. If your just using it for audio then theres almost no point for the 16 inch with the dedicated gpu

I just bought the Mac 15" with touch bar and been watching various reviews... I see so far (maybe I need to keep researching) but I see that when u unplug it hangs the computer and when u plug mixer back in it won't read it till u power down completely. Is this still the case? I use rane 72 and 12s if that wld help and also running serato dj pro. Thanks

Does the 2018 macbook work with scratch live?

Marland Robinson that is a complicated question. It’s not so much that it does or doesn’t work with scratch live, but that it does or doesn’t work with the Rane 57. Scratch live boots up just fine but it’s finicky with the 62 and hates the 57. I find the best way to get it to work is to upgrade your old MacBook to Sierra or High Sierra and then clone your drive to the new computer. Then you just have to install the drivers to get scratch live to see it. The S9 won’t work with it nor the Rane 72 p.

It seems that you have to actually convert you new MacBook to an older MacBook using these attachments. Attachments cost more money and you showed us more than 4 devices where you can just upgrade your old MacBook and reduce all these attachments. You can lose those attachments and then you’re screwed.

Ernest Chester I’m not a fan of external drives. There are too many variables with externals. Bad cables, accidental removal, slow speeds etc. I keep an external drive with me, but it’s a cloned backup of my computer in case something drastic happens. Of course, if you don have the space on your computer than external is your only option.

OK, I understand. I keep all of my music on external drives but have 2 backups of main drive. My MAC is only 250 gigs and over the years have acquired a lot of music. Beat Wilson I bought usb a to usb c cables for all my mixers. Problem solved. I still have the adapters in case I need to plug in a usb drive etc.

or just buy a gaming PC that will blow the new Mac Book away and have all the ports. People think you need a Mac Book to be a DJ or a " Pro DJ " I should say. It's not what you use but how you are able to use it and use it at a profit, not go broke buying a Mac Book for over 4 K. Just saying ! good video
