OneBlade has been offering lifetime-guaranteed single edge razors ever since we launched our Genesis Razor in 2015. We've always gone above and beyond on our design, engineering and material choice.
Now with our all-new Element razor we are offering an all-metal razor for a more accessible price than ever before.
The head of the Element razor is a die-cast zinc alloy that is hand-polished and plated with matte chrome. It is fixed to a space-grade aluminum handle that is forged, heat treated, then machined to a tolerance of -/+0.05mm.
Like all OneBlade razors, the Feather FHS blade is loaded by sliding into the back until it clicks into place, providing a quick and easy prep experience before your shave.
The pivoting head and face geometry make transitioning from multi-blade razors a natural move. No need to lock in the precise blade angle using your arm and wrist. The flexing head on the OneBlade Element razor does all the work for you. Just ensure the flat surfaces above and below the blade edge are flushed with the skin, and you can rest assured the blade angle is correct!

The OneBlade is a well designed razor built around the most frail and expensive razor blade on the market. The blades cost $1 a piece and are good for only one shave, if that. If you have a particularly coarse beard (as I do), you can feel the blade degrade before the first pass of your shave is done. The first 4000 of the original OneBlade could be used with a de-spined Gem blade, but they "fixed" that "problem" in all their later models. Gem blades are robust, inexpensive, and readily available; for 25¢ you can shave for a week. Compare that to 1 shave for $1, from a proprietary blade that you can only buy from (you guessed it) OneBlade. One more thing worth mentioning here: The OneBlade Genesis and Hybrid are made from 316L stainless steel, but the Element is made from chrome plated pot metal. If you drop it, it will break. So if you have a peach fuzz beard and lots of money, go ahead and buy one. But if you want a close shave at a reasonable price, the OneBlade Razor is probably not for you. Toodles.

working on that blade issue you point out! top priority for 2024. As far as the Element material, we're trying to make our unique design available at different price points that reflect the cost of manufacturing and materials used. All OneBlade razors -- Genesis, Hybrid, Core, Element and Dawn -- are backed by a lifetime warranty that includes drops and breaks due to normal everyday use. In our opinion it's a good investment! :)

So where the Hybrid had the Genesis head with a different handle, the Element has different material for the head? I’m sure similar in design and execution but not identical because of the material type and production method. I previously tried the Core and could not use it. The Element is better. Would love to see a OneBlade GEM. Feather blades are expensive and honestly just aren’t that great. This will continue to be an area the keeps people from using a OneBlade razor is that you are locked into one blade type and one blade brand, unless you want to fiddle with removing the spine of a GEM blade and shimming it with a blunted FHS blade.

With the singular exception of this 'one blade', I have found Feather blades to be fairly uniformly the sharpest blades on the market. I use their DE blades and SE Artist Club blades almost exclusively. I have tried using a de-spined Gem blade backed by a blunted FHS-10 blade (as recommended by Subie Shaves on RU-vid), and the result was that it bowed the Gem blade sufficiently as to render it ineffective.

@@draebeard I wonder what it is with this specific platform (OneBlade) that Feather blades don’t seem to meet expectations when compared to Feather’s DE/SE/AC blades? They are sharp, that’s true, but running the same blade in the OneBlade platform for a second shave and I can tell the blade has dulled and needs changed. That could get spendy. Sucks that the shimming on the OneBlade didn’t work for you. I really like this Element razor so hoping the GEM modification works for me.

@@thatryenguy I think it's the angle of the grind. The FHS-10 has a shorter narrower bevel than the Gem. To my knowledge the only other razor that uses that blade is Auto-Strop from the 1920s - 30s. Which begs the question why they even continue to produce them.
