Now, I binge watched almost all of it and am planning to pay off my credit card and apply for a BILT mastercard… thanks for everything John!! 1 month Update: I paid all of my debt by paying it off aggressively. Started using my credit card for everything and paid it off before my statement date. My credit score went up 40points from the last time I commented here. Finally applied for the BILT card using John’s link and GOT APPROVED!!
@@He787878787787 you're right. However, I'm actually trying to pay off my mom's debt that she accumulated using my credit card. Now I changed my card so she doesn't have access to it, allowing me to pay it off and get my score up.

My business spending blows past the best credit cards criteria for bonuses and spending by a landslide, but it also has zero credit history. (Hence-got denied on our very first application). I found your page right after I had paid off all my credit cards. after binge watching you for hours I learned that I had missed so many opportunities over the length of time I've been using cards. I waited for my credit to go up a bit, then started using all of the tricks you've shared and I saw a 25 point boost in a month. I have better credit than I have ever had. The Amazon prime card being metal is cool, but I have it in a drawer because I buy Amazon products from my phone so it doesn't matter that much to me lol
To support John's point about business cards...Here's how easy it can be to get a business card - I literally listed 0 years in business and $0 business income for the previous year and was approved for the Wyndham Rewards Earner card.
@@johnsfinancetips Initially I was kind of concerned about my odds of approval because I was expecting to be asked for anticipated income, allowing for some "optimism". If you're covering a specific card, it would be great if you can include if the application is forward or backward looking.
You really have to watch that amazon prime card though the terms are a bit insidious if you arent watching in the terms if you dont pay it off completely like you should you will be charged interest on the entirety of the spend for that billing cycle not just the amount remaining not a problem for me but something to be aware of
It's super interesting that all these credit card guys are always talking about how easy it is to obtain a business card for people who don't strictly have businesses, but then they are super vague or don't say anything at all about actually using those cards for purchases. Are you telling me these same people who only report a $3,000-5,000 income for their "business", are then going to spend twice that on a business card with "business" purchases? Or are all the card guys silently encouraging people to make personal purchases on business cards? Which, by the way, I was told over and over by my CPA that if I get caught doing that, I could lose ALL my credit cards with that company. I just don't get it. No one is talking about this.
Could you do a video on canceling a credit card? Say I wanted to take advantage of all these amazing options, but I've been using one card for a long time that isn't really benefitting me. Would you ever recommend closing a line of credit, or would you just leave it open?
Leave it open and leave it dormant until they close it. That way you keep credit history up and grab the cards you want. You could also product change.
Personally most "new" cards I cancel after 12 months if all I'm after is the sign up bonus. I've opened well over 60+ cards and currently just keep 8 - 10 open

I considered this card last week. Having already started an aggressive Alaska focus, I didn't want to split my banked miles with AA. What a difference 1 week can make, so I am signed up! I've never been in the Chase ecosystem, so the addition of Hyatt is a major plus as well.

I just took my family to Orlando and spent a whole bunch as we were away for 2 weeks and i had to book 2 rooms every where we went. I just got approved of the Amazon one! I can’t believe I always ignored their popup message telling me to apply(I buy from Amazon probably every week lol). Ideally I would like to have all of those cards! I really want the Venture X but after getting the Amazon card my credit score went from 733 -> 700 Transunion and Equifax is at 737. And because of loans and student loans I see it very difficult to get the Venture X(I have had the QuickSilver for close to 2 years now) and I have had credit for 3 years and 2 months. I do think that I stand a chance with getting the Venture card(not the X) and was hoping to use it to get some flights for late June but I don’t know if it will be approved or if my credit will go up so that I can apply for it with a better credit and still giving me some weeks in advance to book the flight(I do plan on getting that sign on bonus). I must say I am grateful for finding your channel a few years ago. I literally had a credit score of close to 600 because I used a credit card to buy something and forgot to pay it and didn’t think credit was a useful thing. Since early 2022 I paid that debt that was sent to collection, and my credit went up by a lot(had it at 738 Transunion a few months ago). Crazy to think it used to be a low 600 a few years ago and how long it took for it to go up! Thanks for all your content, John!
Love the videos and I may be wrong but Global Entry is $100 but it’s good for 5 years. So yeah you’ll get $5 back the first year of having Venture X but after that it will be at least $95 after using the flying credits. Full disclosure, I have the card and I love the card thanks to your video 🤝

I just got my BILT card and got the 5X on purchases for 5 days. I am so excited to start using this card to pay for rent and earn value for it. Plus, to meet the 5 uses per billing cycle to earn points, I'll be able to pay for 4 of my other necessity monthly spends to make sure I use it enough times. If it is not your initial card it should be fine because; if it were it will default your C.S. to your then oldest which would potentially damage the C.S. So it would void the oldest card on history category. other than that intermediate cards that my have annual fee would be potentially beneficial if you didnt optimize or spend enough to make it worth it.

Hi love your videos, I just wanted to commented on the Chase Ink Card. Even though is a business card ,it still counted under Chase's 5/24. I know from Personal experience. I was denied the card due to too recent regular cards. and had to wait a few Months to get it .

You just have to go through any affiliate link.
