This is way deeper than I thought, been playing for a week now and I’m blown away at the detail in this game

I feel like the dial lock needs a serious refinement to how you enter the code. Easiest would just to be have a lock on screen, lock picking style, and use the D-pad to move all 4 directions. On M&K it could just be the arrow keys. Confirm with Space or Enter and on console’s A or X if you’re Playstation. Its one of those things thats always bugged me on how painfully slow it is. Great video! I have been playing solo on a vanilla server and wonder if trying to build bases or get cars is even worth it though. Even if you manage to get all the stuff required, someone will find it and smash it within a few days at most. If you get a car, as soon as you drive it near anything populated you attract bullets like a magnet lol. The only way I have found to manage to keep anything is burying it in remote places and using a GPS to locate it along with a screen shot. I bury stuff in large dry bags and I belive they will stay until a server wipe or 45 days, correct me if I am wrong.

If I put a wall right in front of another one, will it be as save as two walls with a little space?

I started playing a couple nights ago. This game is deep. I basically ran around a vanilla server dieing from random Things just learning. This game has that one more go addiction.

A great tip for building is to use a pick axe for foundations and mining rocks for a flag pole & Hatchets for building walls as these items can be sharpened including both the handsaw and hacksaw with a sharpening stone extending the items usage... however shovels and sledgehammers can not be repaired once damaged. With flags depending on the server you may be able to craft a flag using rags but be warned it will be plain white as if you're surrendering.

Remember with gates, code lock is always on the right side as per the direction you are fscing when you put down the base. Make sure code lock is visible

I built my first base in one of the same brown barns and also used this guide to get it done, lol it’s a little annoying when your building walls and such for the first time but after you get it memorized, it goes a lot faster, did for me at least lol I’ve had my base built in the same barn for about 3 months now on the server I’m playing in and it’s not been found or raided yet. So I’ve been lucky so far lol although I’m sure my time is coming as everyone’s usually does on DayZ 😂😂

When you’re trying to place a watchtower or fence kit, use the ^ on the dpad to spin the kit around. Sometimes it’s hard to get the right placement you want so using this can help.

Just started this game a couple days ago, im in love with the encounters you have with other players, I've learnt very quickly it's hard finding players who you can trust

Love the tutorial but with update 1.17 you can also use a meat mallet as a silent hammer but it is not as durable

For anyone new, I learned the hard way, make sure your fences are facing the right way. If the inner frame part of your fence is facing the outside of your Base, someone can come up and simply disassemble your fence.

Hey man, I'm really new to this and need help in alot of things. For now im looking a way to store my stuff. IDK where to put it and how to put it. So im thinking to make a small base for me to store my stuff and this video might be helpful later for me to build it. I've been carrying alot of stuff and leaving some stuff in random places. I even fixes some stuff and leave for other player to grab it. Hahahah this game reminds me of first time playing minecraft back in 2015.

Man Dayz's basebuilding sucks compared to Arma 2 dayz basebuilding

I like building bases on roofs with ladders. At least two gates and one over the ladder itself so before you log off you can make it so raiders cant get up the ladder. They can still shoot or grenade launcher out the one on the ladder but they cant plant grenades or explosives on it. On vanilla servers, especially on console, theyll very rarely be raided. Either that or I wall off entire floors of tall apartment buidlings. That way you can build say 3 gates and have the strength of a triple walled base with like less than 1/10 of the work. Cant park cars there of course but I rarely use cars. I carry a spark plug if I find one and I get lucky but really dedicating yourself to a car can be a bitch and until you can shoot out of the damn things... Considering car parts arent a dime a dozen and you have to get spark plug/glow plug, radiator, battery, water and gas and maybe even charge the battery, plus tires and tire repair kits and cars are far from OP and a vast majority are completely non functioning and you are sitting ducks in them... Id wish theyd diminish the weight and size of batteries and radiators a bit. Or at least have more cars that dont need them. If I was in charge Id emove the radiator component entirely. You still have to add water but workable cars have radiators. I mean even cars in the apocalypse would mostly have radiators. Either that or have there be a reasonable chance for car parts in the unrunnable cars. I mean Ive had runs where I really made a car a priority and sometimes you can pull up ISurvive and spend hours looking for a car and theyll all gone and when you finally find one its needs everything.

Any ps4 players here, im fairly new to dayz. Just looking for some people to have fun with. Usually play a couple hours a night. I must repeat, im not a serious player just want to have fun not be a try hard. If I die I die no big deal

Hmm, this seems like a significant pain in the ass to do. I was going to start a Lone Survivor series in this game but I have zero motivation to slog through this.

So do you need to have a flagpole erected in order for your items to not despawn in storage/barrels/chests/tents/cars/items in cars etc? Is there like a radius within the flagpole area or something where things don't disappear? Or do they disappear regardless? How does the game know it's a base? That wasn't explained and I don't want to lose my items i store at my 'base'

One way dayz could be incredibly better is making flags easier to build and making building better. Adding doors, windows, snapping walls together, passcode locks where you don’t have to type a code every time, etc.

I started playing two weeks ago. Your videos are the most prevalent. But your missing a lot, simple pictures of parts or maps would make your videos alot more manageable. Also to much info to fast is killing me. I constantly have to try to pause to try to understand the point you're trying to make. I can't even begin to comprehend how hard it is to make a video like this with all the commentary and visual effects, but being as this is a game of attention to detail I feel your video should also follow that standard. Just a suggestion

Hey chief. I'm only like 100 hours into the game, only playing on PVE servers, as I want to use the game as a bit of chill after work and when the kids are in bed. I've done some simple bases now, playing on Cherna - but really want to try making a base somewhere with a tremendous view, but not in an existing building. Is there any location you can recommend? I was thinking either huge view of fields and forrest, or maybe a seaview of some sort .. Thanks for a ton of great tips that made me learn the building-part a lot faster! :-)

Does a base automatically keep your things safe from a server restarting? I finally found a server I can make progress with. Even had a car but the server restarted and I lost my car and the things I put in it 😮‍💨

This is way, way too complicated for someone looking to build their first base on an official server. First they need to figure out where (and how) to stash all their stuff. Then, how to find hatchets and saws and axes and nails, because those are not extremely common. There’s a ton of steps missing here.
