Intermediate Surviual Guide to DayZ | Tips & Tricks for Looting, Hunting, Cooking, and Stashes! 

10hrs into playing DayZ on PS5 & I've finally learned how to make a fire & start it with tree bark. Craft a fishing pole, chicken bone hook & cook fish on a stick. Stealth kill zombies, craft stone knives, sneak past gun happy players. An finally met another human that didn't beat me to death immediately. I'm starting to see that I'm going to get lost in this game. GG's everyone

All of my dayz console runs I only hunt and fish for food and hide in tents from rain next to a fireplace, this is the best way to play the game and also try and craft most of your stuff. This is the way to play dayz and not rely on canned foods because that's boring

I always starve to death but my last play I got creative and I’m still alive and fed. I was in a hospital starving looking for beans and I opened a door and a guy behind it swung an axe at me. I had 1 shot in my 12 gauge that I put in his chest and he ran off. I chased him down and beat him to death. First I turned his bones into a knife and then scraped bark off a tree and got a stick. Then I turned another bone into a hook and his guts into a rope. I went fishing and ate a mackerel even though I was planning on having to eat him 🤣 I turned this guy into a fishing pole literally 😂

Me and a friend just recently started playing tpgether and after a full day of learning the ropes we were found by a random fully geared hummer guy. We are now his accomplices and work to fill his trunk. Its honestly stupid fun that we already have so much protection. So much fun that we had a little 24h play session, including looting heli crashes and tons of military stuff. This game is the most fun i think ive had ever, and the best part is that now if we die all our good extra stuff is stashed :) bring on the gunfights

I was so geared and went 2 weeks without dying. Decided to check out a heli crash. Heard two separate shots with an initial click slightly before the bang so I knew they were near. Tried to move to cover then got cracked. Had about 4 guns loads of food etc learned a ton from this video. Next time I need to focus on stashes first , running around with too much stuff then losing sucks ass

I truely love your guides ! How do u use fireplaces in buildings? Some fireplaces i dont see in the vacility tab?

Fill up on food and water first, don't worry about loot other then survival and clothing related. Once that's sorted, make hunting stand runs for the warmest clothing in the game. Then worry about the gear you'll miss. This will increase your survivability, minimize your populated area exposure, and reduce your visual footprint.

I was thinking about moving from a moded server (with military loot and food being something you basically trip over) to an official server to make videos, and I know these tips will come in handy. Was looking to make a series on how many military bases, police stations, air fields, etc. I can loot before getting picked off. Hoping to be as successful as your channel one day

I'm not sure if this was implemented at the time of making this video, but there is a benefit to smoking or boiling food over baking it. Smoked food will last much longer in your inventory and even longer than that in storage. Veggies/fruits can even last indefinitely in storage if smoked. It's great for making stockpiles of food, but at the same time consuming smoked foods will not yield any hydration whatsoever while on the opposite end, boiled foods will yield more hydration but won't even last as long as baked foods and simply serves as being a way to achieve both hydration and nutrition quickly and simultaneously.

Love the guides and the content keep up the awesome work ! u def earned my sub, question, im playing on a console only server on the xbox and i used the $unt$field shovel to bury some wooden crates under some trees but for some reason after i bury it it gives me another prompt to bury it again but no prompt to dig it back up, did i totally just lose all my stuff or do i need a regular shovel or something? Have u ever encountered this issue?

I was under the impression that the Pioneer only spawns at police car crashes and the prison which on Chernarus+ would be Prison Island, not at actual police stations. I could be wrong though. Personally I would say, forget all about tents. They take up a lot of inventory space when you're hauling them to your prefered location, they are difficult to find, they don't blend into the environment half as much as the improvised stick shelters do. Sure, they do seem to have ample space (but in reality they don't - see below) - but they're also a pain to place on the map, cause more often than not - it's impossible to place them where you want them, despite it not being in a slope or having trees or stumps where you want to place it. The improvised stick shelters has half the storage capacity - sure, but you can place four wooden crate in each improvised stick shelter (you can place two in the apse of the medium tent). So, in total an improvised stick shelter gets: 100+50+50+50+50 = 300 and a medium tent: 200+50+50 = 300. So, in my opinion stick shelters are better, because they blend better with the environment, are a lot easier to make/you don't have to haul it across the map. To each their own though, if tents work for you - go for it.

I play on a community server on Xbox that’s a full map pvp server in which I run a character that uses a sledgehammer and a bone spear which I replace with the bones of my newest kill. It really trains me to avoid gunshots because of the fact that I’ll most likely die to a decent caliber shot

Sadly I've finally gotten to the point I survive for hours to days, then I eventually let my guard down and someone runs up on me while I'm eating or something, and mows me down, fresh spawn or not, doesn't help that lately ive found farming a better source of food until you start hunting Also, great video, thanks for even going into protection stats on vests, that level of detail versus "plate carrier is better than stab vest" is what I think alot of us really want

If you’re close to dying stash your important stuff in a backpack and hide it somewhere so you can get it back after respawn.

A week of dying and i successfully have started one fire and got attacked by zombies and clipped through the screen and died. These have helped i also have been trying to play without izurvive

smoked meat is more durable and will stay fresh for much much longer, although it gives you less hydration. I smoke 2/3 of the meat because it doesn't go bad for literally days. it's basically jerky.

Actually Boiling your food is your best shot because it provides thirst and hunger unlike baking it where it only provides hunger

i really think there should be skills or crafting objects ie weapons, only there for players who have survived for a long time ,even like a perk system with tac sprint and advanced sniping or crafting skills all based on how long you survive so it makes a player that lives a long time in this world the top thing to seek not just loot kill die repeat . thoughts ?

Find a large tree cut it down and put 20 crates in it. When server resets you cannot see crates if placed correctly. Barrels work too.

Filled up on food and water ? More like 20 minute cycles of frantically searching entire neighborhoods to find a single can of baked beans. Then filled with joy and excitement you realize you don’t have anything to open it with, so you search for another 20 minutes for a knife 🔪. Finally you find one and open your beans and enjoy, only to be filled back to your original starving point due to the extra 20 minutes it took to find a knife … (exhales) I just started today 😅

My advice is eat everything you find immediately, unless you're full. Saves weight and inventory space.

I been playing for years and I literally just learned today that you need a piece of fat to cook with the frying pan. And this whole time I was just dumb burning food or passing over frying pans 🤣

Who has time to create a tent when your food and water is scarce.

I remember i could dry fat. Can i have dried fat and keep it on me to eat for later without it spoiling?

A fresh spawn tried to kill me but I was equip with armor and a ij-70 i shot him a few times and the infected came because of the gunshots and i ran after that he got into a while the infecteds were right behind him after that i killed him

Hunting and fishing is the way to go. Scavenge food in houses to buy you time for fishing and cooking

Is hunting and fishing just in Livonia dlc or or dayz (I'm asking bc i was in a forest trying to hunt and there was nothing) and I don't know where to find game that's why

Don't forget you need gloves to skin an animal or if you don't have gloves you can wash your hands with a waterbottle when you're done. If you don't, you'll get infections when eating. And don't drink water from ponds or ditches. And when you find a bottle of water, empty it and fill it again at a well so you know it's safe to drink. Diseases are the number one enemy of the newbie Dayz player.

Ppl crafting tents after watching these videos not knowing and not told how long improvise tents last before their tents disappear 😆 and ALL their loot is gone!...a hard lesson

I have this sudden urge to build a cool looking fort in the woods in DayZ, and then store all the good loot buried nearby and then do roleplayer shit in my fort. If someone raids me they’ll get maybe some food and what I have on me

General stores are bogus they're always empty when I check even on low pop servers just unlucky I guess.
