Not energon SUPERLINK, that's the anime this figure was designed for and they definitely did the character justice both in character and design but with a twist
@SilverHairedFreak25 yes and no, the story's conveyed wayy better cause it's like the 86 movie except all the key moments are twisted (starscream disintegrates galvatron, rodimus actively trying to resurrect unicron, etc.) the characters are just fleshed out and the music they use for each scene actually matches the tone, in dub it was mostly hype. It really picks up when galvatron appears cause everyone's on edge, the atmosphere is just intense/unsettling going forward which I haven't seen in any other tf show aside from prime and to an extent beast machines, It's a solid show imo though I'd recommend leaving it at episode 38 cause that's where the main story wraps up, (Sorry for blasting you with a paragraph btw I geek out over this stuff 😅)
Its sad that I can't think of much that Rodimus was in in the past few years-decade, besides G1, Energon (which Idk much; G1 more), and TFA. He was Hot Rod in Cyberverse, and Rodimus in Energon and TFA, and IDW1 (which Idk much), annd........what else?? My boy Hot Rod/Rodimus deserves better.
@@fennekin1750 he was supposed to be in wfc but they went and made him and hotshot the same person in he aligners continuity, kind of a nod to Micron Legend where hotshot was actually hotrod

This is definitely a design of Rodimus I love, but I always wished we got that art of New Rodimus or if Fire Convoy could be reworked into Rodimus (keep Optimus a Semi while Rodimus takes on the flame motif as a Fire Truck).
I like Energon Rodimus. His bulky design is neat, the Powerlinx idea is fun, and I dig that in true Unicron Trilogy fashion his design isn't a slavish rehash of his 1980s look. Also, loving Thew's shirt ^_^
I agree that the energon vehicle mode is cool and if they ever do a new take on Rodimus his alt mode should be like that, but Rodimus prime is awesome and no one can tell me otherwise
Rodimus as a racing truck makes for a slick design, and fun child's toy. Other than the chunky proportions this was so much better than the Classics iteration. I would really love to see a lot of these Energon designs get a redo in a Legacy styled line minus the Power linking gimmick as I don't think it could ever be updated to look cool as they were about as animation accurate as you could get.
The only other issue I can point out with this Rodimus is the small and mostly immobile head. It's further highlighted when he's the upper half of the powerlink combo since the limbs are even bigger.
One of the arm joints broke on mine. Would love to see the recent Christmas Optimus remoulded into this, seeing how Jhiaxus got a (in my opinion unconvincing) remould as Vector Prime
I really wonder what a superlink double rodimus looks like, surely that's a thing you can do right? I mean all the clips are identical yes? They'd have to be for superlink to even work in the top and bottom way that it does, but I don't think I've ever seen a picture of somebody having put two identical superlink toys together, which is really strange to me
I still have mine. Left arm's gone to hell and won't harldy stay connected, and I've lost the missle and the yellow bits on the legs, but he's still my favorite Energon bot. Spends 99% of his time in truck mode cause i'm afraid he'll crumble if i look at him LMAO
As the (second) biggest Hot Rod fan in existence, it is my belief that he's always cool... But yeah... Energon Rodimu is pretty peak... I hope we get a new toy sometime soon. And I hope we get more Rodimus adaptations that cater more to this design than G1.
I have an awkward love/hate relationship with this figure. After having skipped all of Armada (well all of it except for Unicron) and initially resisting the temptations of Energon, this is the figure that dragged me back in, and after purchasing one, I had to purchase more to combine him with...two of each in fact, so I could double them up... and once I was in that deep, I might as well get some omnicons for the accessories, and who could stop at just one of each of those when they were army builders within the lore... and then even though the Decepticons didn't have the same combiner gimmicks, I needed something for my Autobots to fight. Admittedly, if not for this figure, I'd have still eventually caved for the more traditional scramble teams that came in at the tail end, but that would have never branched out the same way.
Here's something interesting the alternate mode for energon rodimus is inspired by a jet truck literally called shockwave Unfortunately shockwave the truck was destroyed years back in an accident
I had this figure until my mum made me sell all my childhood toys in a agarage sale. Checked recently and in the condition I had him in I could have netted a hundred bucks or at least kept my cool toy. Cry for me :(
Honestly, I actually like the car-truck-trailer-thing that Rodimus was back in G1 more than Energon's take. I'll admit that Energon Rodimus's truck mode is an interesting and unique take and isn't inherently bad, but I prefer G1 Rodimus's altmode more. It just feels more _Hot Rod,_ who he still is, but older and more mature. Its more unique to him, more than simply another truck like Optimus, Scourge (not that one), etc. If they wanted to expand and try something different with the character, then I think an altmode that still embodies the essence of his space race-car (sprace-car), but is more mature and fitting for a young newly-leader such as him. Something that screams speed and "I'm cool!", while also being more heavy-duty and mature like Optimus's truck.
Energon was overall a sleeper line. Between the mid figures there were total bangers like Roddy or Tow-Line. But, after all this time... What was that split combination thing about?? It NEVER looked any good 😭
I can’t deny that there are only a few combinations that actually look cool, but personally the sheer ridiculousness means it makes up for it in fun factor.

You come in here and disrespect the one and only chosen one to wield the Matrix, the avatar of Primus, the Cincinnatus of Cybertron who earned ultimate respect by not wanting to lead at all and ended a five million year old war and defeated the robot Beelzebub? Robozebub? Beelzebot? I say, sir. You're lighting quite a fire. Rodimus Prime is the one and only Matrix bearer chosen by the actual Matrix. Optimus Prime didn't get to be a Prime from some Matrix upgrade. No, he got dismembered by his fanboy idol Megatron and had to be physically upgraded with wires and welding, cobbled together and handed an unearned honorific. Meanwhile, Rodimus was the pinnacle, the very point of all Cybertronian evolution. The planet existed to make him... and like Hamlet, he didn't even want to be in the story he was stuck in. Cue the tragedians because my boy Rod was the Autobot leader because no one else was fit to do what he did. Had Optimus gotten a clean shot at Megatron, Unicron just would have made Galvaback or Galvawarp and eaten the Earth! I don't care what any Deviations comic says because they deviate from the point that G1 Rodimus is a badass boss bot who drinks Energon from a mug that says "I'd rather be fishing." Great leaders aren't gung-ho or idealists. They're conscripts who'd prefer to be doing anything, anything at all else, like some kind of Toxitron inverted clone of Starscream.
Guys. I think I hate the energon character design. It was new while I was skid but I never liked it. Armada and Cybertron were my shit. But I think I actually don't like the energon character designs
I actually only grew up with energon so I have a huge love for its designs. It takes the CHONK of the unicron trilogy and turns it to 11. Characters like shockblast and wing saber are just so nice and big.
They are definitely rough around the edges with the Powerlink Combination being one of the weaker gimmicks that honestly hurt some of the toy designs (unlike Cyber Key which was more hidden and Minicons that were mostly optional).
