I just passed Sec+ (788/750) on the 1st of Dec on first attempt, with a non-IT background (I'm a sales and marketing manager in my mid 30's) and am working full-time. English is also my second language. I skipped A+ and Network+ and went straight for it, IMO I don't think you really need A+ and Network+ to go for Sec+, rather I learnt all the IT and networking fundamentals with the help of Google and RU-vid during my Sec+ study. In addition to Professor Messer, Boson's practice exams and labs help A LOT, and please avoid CompTIA's official practice exams and labs at all cost, it simply sucks and not worth the money. Good luck guys!

The GRCP is a great one to go for if you are willing to pay and want to start adding acronyms to your resume. This is a great one to get your foot in the door, especially for higher ed jobs or as a security analyst for a smaller company. $400 per year for it, but open book online test with unlimited retakes. I think its a great financial risk to potentially get your foot in the door

@TheLORDNIGHTSHIELD
@TheLORDNIGHTSHIELD Год назад
I have got CISSP last year, and currently it is 749$. However it is not only the price you are going to pay. Because to be able to prepare properly, you have to read a lot of different resources, books, or buy CISSP exam prep software to check for tests. NIST/ISO materials are also going to be beneficial. Exam itself has nothing to do with questions in book, because ISC2 itself states, books are only provide addition to your knowledge, not the all knowledge. It took me a year to prepare, however I over-prepared. It is possible to do it in 6 month if you have knowledge.

@nicoleenesse

CCSK is vendor neutral. The Vendor specific ones like AWS are teaching you THEIR products. They are good to get, but think time would be better spent building out a project on their platform that is security focused. Cloud Security has the most versatility and is VERY marketable

Hi Nicole, you said that for SSCP certification exam you need either one year of experience or Bachelor or Master Deegree to compensate...How exactly does this work? Do they check if you have Degree in Cybersecurity field or could it be IT field in general (f.e. Bachelor in Computer Science or so). I've actually bought the hard-copy of the book and wanted to start of with this one but wasn't sure in this pre-condition. Many thanks in advance for your answer!
@nicoleenesse

Not sure if they check, pretty sure you can get away with not having that one year but I would check with ISC2 to see... I know for the CISSP they check 100%

Hi Nicole! I am looking to get into cybersecurity and I'm buying a course that gives me access to: Cisco CCENT,CompTIA A+,CompTIA Linux, Comptia Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals Certification and CompTIA CySA+ I want to get an entry level job in IAM/GRC route so I wonder which of these exams to take as the course only provides the ones for the A+. I was thinking of paying for the Security+, Linux and CySA. Will that be enough to start with or should I also add the Network exam too? Thanks in advance 😃
@f.i.l.o5301
@f.i.l.o5301 9 месяцев назад
do this (A+ "if you want', net+, sec+, then get cloud aws ccp/az-900, then either go for linux+ or LPIC or essentials, then go for CYSA+ or CCNA Cyberops, get the CEH or the eJPT (if you are more advance) and lastly a project management cert (itil 4 / pmi capm) dw for the cissp for now. that way you have everything in your resume that employee could want. network, linux, cloud, management, security defensive and offensive.

@bertmeza8673
@bertmeza8673 Год назад
This is the path I am on cupofmojoe, and get started if you have not! AS/AA in cybersecurity/information security assurance is my naming. You will get a download of entry level computer courses from hardware to software. Then you will move into networking and learning what it is to be a good hacker which will.cover the many fields of cyber. You will then take some disaster/forensics courses and if your AS is good you'll get into some coding scripts such as c++. All of which lead to a fairly good understanding of cybersec. Best of luck, or hard work!
