That picture at the end of you bird boy holding the bird looked like it was a banded bird. I also saw you giving hand signals to you boy. I couldn't help but laugh at that. Very well done. None of us got a limit, but had a couple that got close. I'm thinking that because we had got 2 and 1/4 inches of rain the day before and it was overcast all morning that it may have affected the birds. They just were not as plentiful as last season. Overall we had a really good time and it was fun as always. I'll post my opening day video "A Comedy of Errors" shortly. Enjoy.
I’m really glad I found your channel. I manage my agriculture for wildlife, especially bird hunting. Maybe I can learn a thing or two. Thank you for doing this. One question, have you ever planted millet in between the sunflowers? I was thinking about doing that
It’s pretty cool to watch y’all build the field and then hunt out of it. My family went dove hunting Saturday We shot three between four of us lol. everybody had a good time.
Glad you had a good one. I never fired my gun. Lol. Let me know when your partner is ready to start shooting. I’ve been through it, have some ideas and several guns for young hunters to help him along.
Aw man! I was hoping your sunflowers would have brought in a few for you all to hunt. Sometimes it takes years of management to really get enough birds to have good hunts. We have been at it hard for 6 years now managing and the last 3 years we have seen the biggest jump in numbers. Good luck!
@@Yellowlab247_NC_Outdoors yeah the sunflowers all died off way to soon an cocklebur took over. Well spray it good next spring and go with browntop millet.
Congrats. Glad that it all came together for you. My field turned out pretty good but the birds just didn't show up. We killed very few but still had a fun day. It was so slow I didn't bother with videoing.
I think we lost a few, but still enough around to have a hunt. The neighbors agreed that there were less birds. Never know what the weather is going to do
I have now ran 4 boxes of dove load through it and not one single jam using the 1300 FPS. Didnt seem to kick too bad, especially compared to a 12. I think I will keep it for awhile
Our rule used to be you could not hunt until noon on the opener, but that changed about 10 years ago. Dove season always comes in the first weekend in September. Every now and then Sept. 1 lands on a Sunday so the opener comes in on Monday the 2nd.
Ive got a Tactacam but I really dont use it much. Adds a lot of weight on the end of the gun and I really dont care for that. I used it on Snow Geese and that was pretty cool, go check out that video on my channel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KOyw-zGzBac.html
If it was dry enough, I would just burn it but since ours was still a little green, I mowed it about 4 days prior to burning. In a perfect world I would have planted about 1 week earlier and mowed it 7 days prior to burning and it would have really cleaned up the field.
Did you have any luck with the relay cycling anything other than the Monarch shells. I just bought a retay 20 gauge but academy is out of all 20 ga shells.
