Fascinating how the Surgeon General's report on smoking would be so openly alluded to by an actor introducing the awards. While one would have thought that movies would have begun a rapid decline in depicting characters who smoke once this report came out, the industry kept on making movies with cigarette smoking being featured predominantly.
