Today Luke C ‪@BallisticAviation‬) is at the Fletcher Rifle Works booth in the Cesar’s Forum to talk with CEO Paul Fletcher about the latest developments for the OpenTop 11/22 series of receivers, rifles and pistols. The latest iteration to be released is the new Takedown model that features a very minimal amount of point of impact shift when removing and replacing the optic rail, or the barrel. With premium components from other well-known 10/22 aftermarket companies, the OpenTop 11/22 Takedown is the result of a lot of trial, error, and refinement by the Fletcher Rifle Works team.

It's hilarious they say that any shift in point of impact isn't a big deal because it's just a survival rifle while literally being a conglomeration of expensive gucci parts lol. Yeah....I don't think so Tim. FYI, if you properly set up and tighten a factory Ruger 10/22 takedown there's no discernable shift in the POI so if Luke is seeing a half inch to inch shift from this custom version, it's a step down, not up.
@KamikazKid
@KamikazKid 5 месяцев назад
Yeah that definitely irks me, when you have a .22 that costs more than a good to mid-range AR I don't want to see POI shift.
@SergeyPRKL

@@KamikazKid Well, honestly the manufacturing process is exactly the same. The bore size doesn't dictate the price, or not that much. It's a $1000 rifle with that amount of workmanship, the materials are just a fraction.

@@SergeyPRKL Let me rephrase that, why pay $1000 for a gun with POI shift when I can get any other gun in the same caliber from a $300 ruger to a $500 S&W and not have this issue?

Came across this video about the 11/22 Open Top. Brilliant! I already customized my 10/22 Takedown with a Beyer Barrel - 18.5" spiral fluted - and it is sub MOA accurate. Also put in a Tandemkross bolt, and will definitely be picking up one of the FRW Takedown 11/22 receivers. Thank you.

In reality which is more practical for use in mountains as an small critter getter the Ruger MK IV pistol or one of the Ruger takedown rifle. I think a supressed MKIV has an advantage with its smaller footprint

That's not the point of this. Yea sure you can get a Tandemized Mini Mamba and a fat 1.5" can but a 10/22 will be more accurate than that pistol all day and will always hold more rounds.

@mikehh8020
@mikehh8020 5 месяцев назад
I don't understand why Ruger or more aftermarket 10/22 parts manufacturers don't adopt the Volquartsen approach to the takedown. The pic rail and is attached to the barrel and cantilevers over the receiver so there's zero point of impact shift when you take it apart. The Volquartsen barrel won't work with this unless they offer a flat top receiver version.
@printingwithpeek4897
@printingwithpeek4897 3 месяца назад
Because it's not 1980 anymore and it also limits the type of barrel that can be put on the rifle. I run an IDF .22 silencer on my FRW 11/22 Take Down. I can't mount a red dot on there and I don't intend to run one on there.

.5-1" MOA shift? If it is tight machining tolerances that number should be at worst .005 shift in accuracy. Look at it from a survival perspective. Your not packing a bunch of ammo. Smaller prey will make that MOA shift magnify. A different rail solution needs to be figured out. The barrel lock up is probable a best it can be. Id have to see one to determine my thoughts there. The MOA shift is a problem though. Maybe its just his shooting causing it.

@@homegunsmithunger598 That is exacly why i said something like savage have because from that gun you can pull bolt from back and use actual solid cleaning rod instead just boresnake or cable. Ruger improved their mark series and made it one most easiest gun to fieldstrip and clean after couple versions. 10/22 otherhand is still exacly same gun as 60 years ago. They didn’t invent it! Sebastian Unger invented it and had been working on it for many years. Fletcher rifle works is just his partner for producing and selling it. Also I have one of the OG 11/22, it’s ok, it’s great for a .22 that’s will be shot a ton and will need to be cleaned often but other than that their QC is crap. I ended up returning two receivers in a row because they had fitment issues and incorrect and improperly cut threads.

Fletcher should work with all the other aftermarket companies to provide them the best receiver possible. Desert Tech Trek-22 sucks to clean. Put an 11/22 in it. If you're getting any POI shift you either have a lemon or it's not set up properly. I thought the same thing when I got mine, the POI shift was terrible but after some advice from other owners I re-tightened the tensioner and it worked great. It goes right back to POA/POI every time now. The factory instructions on setting up the takedown aren't that great.

There's a magpul mount that lets you slap an optic on the front half above the barrel instead of on the receiver, that's the only true fix for the poi shift on takedowns
