Yah. Best done with a plate carrier. If you are practicing and don’t want to be the goober in his living room in his silkies and a plate carrier, take the bolt carrier out. She’ll be missing the dust cover and everything but no biggie.

It took me forever to find a video discussing a sling with tension for accuracy. I run mine through my hand and it works. I'm far more stable and my arm doesn't get tired. Why is this no longer discussed? My whole RU-vid feed is nothing but gun channels.. I've never seen this and its extremely beneficial.

Drove into town one time and the small shack on the side of a hill next to the highway blew up, found out later "Never make Chili and Meth in the same kitchen" as the fire department put it in it's report. Didn't mind the transfer orders out of Arizona at that point.

That is AZ. From Southern AZ to well north on the 10/19. It has a brief green season though after the monsoons. If you want to live in AZ I would suggest Sierra Vista. Its 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the state due to elevation. Granted its still hot but triple digit hell doesn't happen as often. lol

I believe I have found a true, value added use for a three-point sling. Compelled by a range master to use one, I promptly accepted the offered three point sling and whipped said range master with it until we all agreed that a two point sling would be OK. Seriously, great video on use of 2 point quick adjust slings. Nice to see an accurate and clear review on the fundamentals of a subject we all tend to overthink.

Nice video. Perfect demonstration of how easy the quick adjust sling is to pick up and use efficiently. I have an old first gen. Viking tactical sling and I do like the design. It's easier and quicker to adjust than the sider style on the magpul slings. However the magpul slings have really nice high quality webbing material that I perfer over the thin nylon the first gen Viking sling had.

I always chuckle when I see Ian standing to the right of a right handed person. My brother is left handed, and growing up, we always made sure he'd sit to the left at the dinner table, because when you have a lefty sitting to the right of a righty, the elbow wars begin, lol! With hand gestures while talking, I keep expecting these two to smack each other. I guess they're standing far enough apart. :)

Using your sling to aid in marksmen ship is a valuable skill, if you ever get into precision rifle matches later in life, you will use everything you learned, while slinging up is not real useful for ARs and light weight rifles like this, as soon as you start heaving 12-16 pound bolt guns into your shoulder, you will be thankful of sling techniques

I find that keeping my quick adjust 2 point all the way right for walking around and doing non gun work, (admin stuff). And strong side hasty sling. I run it as loose as it will go for situations requiring more dynamic movement, shoulder bump (Transfer stock from strong to weak keeping hands in place, "push forward, bump to the left") instead of the weaving and waving my arms through my sling to switch shoulders. I like 3 point. It makes a lot of sense for guys who spend all day geared up engaged in a wide variety of tasks. For me, a One Tigris quick adjust 2 point, has been working nicely.

I've been using the VTAC sling for the past 10 years on multiple deployments and it is my favorite. Easy to adjust whether you are using no kit, armor, other stuff you are wearing. You do have to replace them every year or two of daily use and adjustment because the nylon expands (?) as it wears and won't feed smoothly. I'll have to try the adjustment for prone and off hand though.

The Swedish Military has an interestingly simple system for their slings with their standard issue weapon (Ak 5C) where you can decide yourself if you want 1-point or 2-point style of sling and switch between them quick and easy. Usually from what I have seen is that soldiers on guard duty use a 1-point configuration where as soldiers in a, let's say, "combat" environment tend to use it in a 2-point configuration.

Great topic & video. As a lefty, I've encountered problems with the sling swivel mounted directly forward of the ejection port (like it is on Ian's rifle in the video). When shooting in awkward positions or from the right side (weak side for a lefty), the sling can get close enough to the ejection port to cause a failure to eject. Rare, but enough to be aggravating and usually happened when I was in a position that made it especially difficult to clear the malfunction.. I ended up moving the swivel to the forward end of the handguard. YMMV
