I feel like he's driven himself nuts trying to live with cognitive dissonance. He knows deep down that everything he claims to hate is what put him on top of the world. Now Opie's got nothing but tries so hard to say he's actually happy. It's kinda sad

I've memorized the spots in my favorite clips to click ahead to avoid his inanity. I might be able to suffer through his idiotic opinions or his affected cool-guy voice, but both combined are too cringe inducing.

I believe it. The same guy has responded to me a couple of times defending Opie way too enthusiastically and encouraging me to listen to his podcast. He also had the intellect of Brick Tamland. All of those combined were very suspicious.

After listening to WATP for a few years now I've reached the conclusion that Stuttering John is actually worse than Opie. On some subconscious level Opie is aware of how truly awful and hated he is. The Opie we see is the conscious part trying to compensate for that with increasingly far-fetched delusions. Stuttering John though... that man has zero self-awareness. Like, at all. I don't think he even has a subconscious. His mind is like that of an insect, just reacting to stimuli, instant input and output. His narcissism, his self righteousness, his delusions of grandeur - these aren't the result of any psychological defense mechanisms, these are literally just him! It's who he is! There's something more disturbing, even terrifying, about that. He also manages to achieve the rather staggering feat of being even less intelligent than Opie. He thought "Jerry Mandering" was a person and he thinks RU-vid has an anti-Liberal bias. 😳

Simple answer - listen to Ant, Jim and Sam respond to Opie talking about effort and you'll realise that he really was a lazy fuck who got by cos Sirius provided all the equipment and the staff made sure it actually worked lol - without that he can only talk into his phone, my god what a failure for someone who claims he knows radio. Another quick example is the book deal that he always spoke about - fast forward and Jimmy has 2 bestsellers, Ant has a brilliant biography and what's Opie done? Nothing.
