Optolong L-eXtreme Filter: bit.ly/45YuQzs
Detailed Review: bit.ly/l-extreme-review
The Optolong L-eXtreme filter is now being used in backyards across the globe, which is great news for those that take astrophotography images in heavy light pollution.
This astrophotography filter features even narrower bandpasses than last year's L-eNhance, making it perfect for nebula photography from the city.
The Optolong L-eXtreme filter isolates the H-alpha (Ha), and Oxygen III (OIII) at 7nm exclusively. Unlike the previous L-eNhance, the eXtreme does not include a bandpass for H-Beta (Hb).
Thank you for watching, and clear skies!

I've been doing astrophotography for about half a year or so now. And I recently got a Star Adventurer mount and a pretty big lens as my first real astrophotography setup. I had taken a few photos of Andromeda before but they never turned out well but boy, couldn't have imagined the results of actually having a good mount and a good lens. Expensive hobby with incredible results, mainly thanks to your videos keeping me interested and being educational at the same time.

Another great video Trevor! I've been using my L-eXtreme for about a month and am blown away by how much it improved this beginner's astro shots! I pre-ordered and it took about 3 months to get but it was well worth the wait. Great Helix Trevor in that light glowing low southern sky. This filter is awesome for the right camera. I was wondering when something with narrower band passes was coming out or why it took so long. Also I think what you said about the older DSLR's and such was very important. Thanks for your passion and commitment: My question is what is the difference in using this filter vs the Triad on these same objects, using the same color cameras, in heavy light pollution? Both filters have very narrow bands, but am I wrong to assume the Triad would give more color/detail with the 2 extra bands? or do these extra bands also let in more light pollution---compared to the L-eXtreme? Your review of the Triad had me convinced to get it despite the price, and combine it with QHY268, Esprit 120mm for use Bortle 9 to get some decent shots....I really don't want to get both....does each have it's own purpose in your opinion?

I like how that filter is easier to grab, with others u gotta u got to be more careful not to leave a finger print...so I would give it 2 Stars just for the design of the Filter let alone its mindblowing Quality and most important "Final Results". Awesome filter, thanks for showing us the goods... I've always loved the stars my hole life and when me and my wife watched you more and more are interest in the deep sky objects grew and grew... 2 days ago we got the Meade 127eq 5" Aperture with 1000mm focal length...I wanted to get an aperture of at least 5inches to really explore, I had a budget to not go over $200..so I got the best I could with with 200... So..I was wondering if you have any advice on what type of ccd camera and or filter i should get...i want to maximize hydrogen Alpha and do 6nm for Oxygenlll....and my budget I'm making for myself is round $100 I can spend, any advice would be appreciated...srry for this huge long message...

Also, as I am one of those guys with an older DSLR I am very curious if your warning in this vid also applies to me (Canon 60D modded). For the focusing topic, can you just leave the filter out, focus and then put the filter back in? I should not change the focus, because it is flat and is just blocking light. Or is the extreme reduction to only a few wavelengths already kicking in the problem that different wavelengths need different focus?
