Btw I had the realization Elden Ring is just a fighting game as an adventure game. Your inputs have to be on point, most people button mash and struggle and don't understand footsies and frame advantages. Many many parallels 😮

Micah is spot on with The Order 1886. Under Meta, Ready at Dawn isn't the studio it once was but I believe the IP is owned by Sony and a lot of the founders came from Naughty Dog. I guess it will join Days Gone in the Sony vault of titles that deserve a sequel. One day maybe, Bluepoint would give us a great sequel.

If you don't want to spend $20 on The Order 1886 then just wait until the next PSN sale where it will probably be $5. It was a decent experience for what it was but as a game there wasn't a whole lot there.

Micah absolutely should play Bowsers Inside Story on 3DS. It's the best game in that series and legitimately one of the funniest, most clever games I've ever played.

Thinking the Souls trilogy requires one to play "flawlessly" is just incorrect. The games are difficult, but they shouldn't be overexaggerated as requiring "perfection." You can certainly make a few mistakes as you go through any boss fight in those games. That's what the estus flask is for. You can recover health because it's expected most gamers will be taking some damage.

Agree with them on Paper Mario. I do agree a lot of the mechanics are better in the 2nd but I enjoy the story and pacing 10x more in the first.

Micah you've really gotta buy a new GBA SP battery they're super cheap with higher capacity and it's just 1 screw on the bottom to take it out

I loved sonic as a kid but when the cool factor goes away with age, you are stuck with a shitty platformer in turbo speed.

It's a shame The Order 1886 (and it's Xbox cousin Ryse Son of Rome) were seen as glorified tech demos at the time because there's actually really solid IP potential in there with some fun gameplay

Paper Mario TTYD could've been sheer charm had they not taken every single opportunity to pad. It should be 20 hours, but it's double that and for no good reason. It's still a rescue Peach story, and the baddies are generic in motivation ("Muwahaha I'm evil") so it ends up feeling really forced very often

Just played the Order 1886 a couple of months ago and I thought it was awesome, easy Plat too! The poor reviews kept me from playing it but Colin talking positive about it here and there finally got me to play it. If it came out now at $40 it would have been a much bigger hit.

I tried to emulate Metroid zero mission to get into Metroid chronologically and my dumbass downloaded Metroid fusion which is apparently near the end of the timeline.

Souls is the one series I've tried but never conquered. And it bothers me. I've built a very large mental block in my mind now...

Did Micah play Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga on GBA or NSO? It flows a lot better and I think the battle system is more fun. I’m playing TTYD for the first time and while I’m generally vibing with it, I can already feel some of those redundancies forming in Chapter 2. I can see where the game is teasing me with backtracking on top of battles that are dragged out with restrictions. I do wonder if some aspects of the game are refreshing at first but get old quick. All that said, people that enjoy Intelligent Systems’ charming and funny dialogue will be feasting with TTYD.

Well, I've been officially deterred from playing Paper Mario TTYD after hearing this. I have problems with heavy dialogue in games due to OCD (had to take a break from FF XIV due to this), so I won't be playing it. I guess you can't skip dialogue either!?

2:18:50 Yeah this is the problem with old mario rpg games. Fans of these series do not shut up about how good these games are. But it all nostalgia in my opinion. I played super mario rpg remake recently. One of the most boring game I have ever played. Fans says story and characters are great but I don't see most adults who do not have nostalgia liking the story and characters of these games. Game play is super simple. Overall disappointment. And from the looks of it thousand year door is kinda same. I'll give it a chance when it runs at 60fps because it is a classic but I reduced my expectations drastically. And I am with Miyamoto. Mario games do not need story. There is no way you can make that world appealing to adults who haven't grown up with mario. Even Mario character design is super bland and boring.
