Starting at Independence in April 1840, I got over 31k points this run to the Willamette Valley with all six people in Good health. I probably would've had a higher score if I had only invested the rest of my money into draft animals at Fort Vancouver. For about the last third of the video, I show off the in-game diary.

Either that or the others are wearing the same clothes that are likely full of holes and tears. XD Sometimes I used to get rid of all the clothes and joke I was traveling to Oregon as a nudist.

Am I missing something here? You leave Independence with less than $20, but somehow have $519 by Fort William. Does the teacher/trail guide earn money on the trail? Did you use a cheat?

You get paid 500 when you're hired as Trail Guide- happened after Santa Fe.

kamikaze9699 Okay. I figured it might be from the Trail Guide status since the game used the word "hired," but I wasn't sure. They even pay you in advance...I guess the price is that they abandon you if you screw up.

Thinker2112 It sort-of keeps with how things were- no guarantee of survival along the trail. Some diaries from the time would talk about kids falling out of and getting run over by the wagon they were in. Diseases we have vaccines for now claimed too many lives since they weren't invented back then. Hell, the Donner party would've made it no problem if not for a freak early blizzard. So, may as well enjoy the money before you're left in a shallow grave.
