The Original 1990 Air Jordan 5 Fire Red (Silver Tongue) 

I was 12 in '90 I couldnt get my parents to get me both the metallics and fire reds, I had the metallics I liked them better. What I miss the most is how the soles were made back then, I know guys know what I mean they were so soft and felt fantastic. The original 3's felt like a dream, and the 5's icy sole was a totally new thing when they came out was space age feeling.

I’m still waiting on the full comparison between the 1990 2000 and 2020.

These were my 1st ever Air Jordan. Wayyy back when I was graduating High school in 91.

I have a pair of these I was born in 1990 my parents got me the 5s in baby size I've kept them my whole life there still fresh dont have box but I'm sure there worth thousands

The open cell felt so much better feeling than the new hard nasty stuff. I owned the OG fire red Vs and they were amazing feeling on my feet

I was a jr in high school when i got that pair. I even painted the side netting black. Im glad i copped the 2020 version.

My first pair of J’s was the infrared 6’s. They had just released so the 5’s (blk met and fire red PE’s)were still available and I remember the 6’s were $110 and the 5’s were discounted to $100 (sz 10 1/2).

I got those back in the days I got them from the sneaker store in Utica New York I paid a total of 125 I remember those days you couldn't tell me nothing sneakers was my life I always kept sneakers for each day of the week😮

I agree with you 100% @7:40. The shape of the retros is really disappointing. The OG's were shaped very sleek and streamlined. Almost all of the retros are shaped very boxy. For example, the 2019 black cement 4's were not shaped well compared to the OG 89's or even the 99 retros. The toe box was shaped like a steel toed boot, very round. The cut along the ankle is lower than the 89's, which does something to the overall look. I was excited for the black cement 4's to drop, but boy was I let down. It CANNOT be that difficult to match the shape to the OG's. Even the nubuck is on the retros was a let down. I digress. The shapes are a BOOO for me. We are paying more for a worse quality shoe.

You’re not LYIN when it comes to how comfortable the older Nike’s are compared to now. Another thing that made them comfortable tan they are now had to do with the air units. Nike used different air units up until the mid 2000’s when they switched over to those environmentally friendly air units and since then they never felt the same. Although I will say the Am 90’s recrafts that came out last year did feel a lot better then some of the retros before so maybe they’re trying something new.

I had so many OG pairs of Jordan’s, but they were all falling apart so I ended up just throwing them all away, what a shame.

yeah, it's weird tha JB still uses that stiff polyurethane while in some latest airmaxes nike is using some really nice stuff...the recrafted air max 90 is really comfortable..maybe JB will switch to smthg of that kind
