A detailed comparison of the Air Jordan 5 original release from 1990 and the 2016 retro. A few relics from the past and trip down memory lane topped with a very special piece(s) of history!
1990 and early 91 they were the bomb! Where I lived, they literally ran out of stock in less than a week with this colourway. I remember a little later how shockingly different the 6's were after these and they took a bit of adjusting with the finger holes in the tongue, the heel spoiler and minimal inside padding in comparison and most kids were still preferring the 5s over the 6s. And with the Icy soles they were something else.
Such a great era of Nikes/Jordan's with the visible air not to mention like you said the translucent soles. Miss the days of good old durabuck and high quality.. comfort unmatched. So good
Man, I remember trying on my big brother's pair back in 1990 and wanted a pair so bad! 91, I ended up getting the black 6's but I still liked the 5's better.
This was my first pair of Jordans. I was in 5th grade and I was blown away by the tongue. I have a pretty big collection now, mostly 5s and 6s. Love all your videos bro, keep em coming!
Excellent first pair! I really wanted the black cement 4 first pair I begged my folks for lol.. didn't happen until 4th grade black infrared 6.. so many good memories with that pair rocking them. Thanks for watching, nobody wore them better than Mike!

Awesome vid. This was my 1st pair of Js! I was 9 when these came out. I originally wanted the 3s but my parents couldn't afford them. So I saved whatever I got for my birthday, Christmas and lunch money. I also ended up getting the Grapes as well. I wanted the Fire Reds but were out of my size.
So good! It was always crazy to see the OG Jordan's go on sale. Wish I had more when I was a kid but had to beg for the ones I had and glad I did.. good memories! Still obsessed with the OGs today hah
Peep the oasis sticker in the background, lol. Man, I was a huge fan of them in the 90s and 2000s. I followed them all over the uk between 95 and 97. If the retro had a bigger tongue I'd say I'd prefer it over the OG. Also, I wonder why nike/Jordan brand stopped using scotchlite. I wonder if it was to do with cost? The reflective material used today doesn't pop as much, imho.
Haha heck yeah man, my first time seeing Oasis was in '98. One of my all time favorites. Materials have changed over time quite a bit and I still belive they use this new material for durability. Only time will tell lol
bust nice! So you must have seen the "be here now tour?" I'm sure that world tour went from 97 to 98. I caught that tour at Sheffield and Birmingham arenas here in the uk. Gutted I missed out seeing Liam play knebworth earlier in the year. I'm still hoping they get back together before they get too old, lol. When was the jumpman retro of these 5s? I remember the materials being terrible on those and cracking after a few year's. The nike retro definitely seems to better in the material department. 👍
From what I understand the Pistons made the Bulls come back harder and stronger and were never gonna take it from a team like that again so maybe it worked out for the better, certainly did in 1991 💪🏻
BIG question I’d like to know your thoughts on . If I bought a pair of the 2016 black Metallics now in 2024. Would they crumble instantly? Would love to know your thoughts .
The plastic sheen to the tongue and the toe shape were the only things that blew it on this retro. Tongue being the biggest fail imo it really does ruin the shoe. Actually prefer the retro heel to OG
I know, but no worries it’s called lesson learned you won’t believe it. I’m meeting this guy at one in the morning. And there’s size 12 only worn two times very near death stock and I’m getting them for 180. I’m so excited he doesn’t know he’s not a shoe collector. He’s a he had a put away for years in the closet. I’m so excited to have them now in my collection. I got the bread fours I got the fire red threes and I got Chicago 2 and Lost and Found Jordan one
The tongue looks like some drew it up like a cartoon i only like the jordan 5s from 2007 and back my metallic looks alot better and the inside is way to thick which i notice inside sock lining is way thinner included on the 1990, 2000 and 2007
@t_thegreat6 they can.. most models they just don't bother investing resources research etc. In today's day and age in technology no reason why they couldn't
