The Original EOS M in 2022 - Street Photography In Seattle 

You can choose not to load magic lantern by holding set immediately after you power on. Then boom you're back to normal eos m. The next reboot it will load magic lantern as usual.

It’s nice to find a video on the Eos M without using magic lantern because I bought mine to use magic lantern and have decided it’s too much work for me 😅 I think photography is a better bet for me.

I bought the 22mm pancake lens brand new for £60. It was advertised as being pulled from a kit but when it arrived it was brand new in retail packaging! Proper result!

APS H is a larger sensor with only 1.3 crop. It’s found in the Canon 1D mk 1 to mk 4.

Keep in mind when this originally came out it was about $400 USD and the market hated it. The focusing was slow and in certain situation it struggled to attain focus. I bought 2 back in the day to use with Magic Lattern mainly to learn how to shoot video, one for wide angle and one for close ups. People were dumping them a few months after their release. You could get them for $175 USD at the time when the Canon 5D Mark II was $1500 USD. I still prefer my Fuji X100 s for shooting street photography but as a cheap compact camera with a wide range of capabilities it can be a good choice if you understand the limitations. No action shots and you need to compose purposely and a lot more slowly. Some people hate the small size but I am a fan of the form factor. I liked the fact you could get manual focus lens cheaply and you could still get focus at infinity even with the inexpensive adapter. I am surprised at the renewed interest in this camera. which was considered a discard back in the day.

You can put ML on the camera and still use it with canon firmware, just throw in a plan SD card. That was you can have the best of both worlds! It is a great camera as-is, but magic lantern I have to admit is incredible. Some shorts shot vs Arri Alexa and audience couldn't tell the difference (we can, of course, but the fact that normal folk thought it looked like film is amazing).

Your video production may be sporadic but each one is very welcome and I enjoy watching them. I have never been to Seattle so I had a quick look on Google Earth. Fascinating place. I would love to try the Monorail and go to the top of the Space Needle. That MoPop building looks amazing and well worth a visit too. Thanks for the camera content but also the Tourism stuff as well. I take nature and street photos and I use ML for the 10x zoom on half press to set focus with :) Usually have a manual 35mm c-mount manual lens so just that function is worth so much :)

Can you please do a tutorial on this one? Or share one you may know of? All the ones I can find relate to cinematography and magic lantern. I was gifted this camera and have struggled to figure it out. I think I'd do better with a camera that gave more control, but I want to learn before I write it off

I loved my EOS M for street so much travelling I decided to buy a second hand M6i for about $300. Paired with the pancake lens. I travel the world it slips in a pocket and isn't noticeable as a street shooter. The M6i gives two dials to adjust manually on the go and a tilt screen.

Is it possible to get a clean hdmi out signal?

Can you download any log settings onto it?

Just purchased my eos m2 and whenever I capture images they turn out a lot brighter in the playback than what I saw on the LiveView LCD when I was capturing them and I don't see anyway to control canon's "exposure simulation" on this camera.... I have found some work-arounds but i'm curious to know if you have faced the same issues with photos on this camera

I have just buy one and I think the same, its an awesome photo camera, im wonder if i instal the magic lantern swaping the card its like never happend... dunno...

This is one good camera, cheap price, small size, high file quality, importantly, can use Magic Lantern too.

i cant load the firmware 2.02 to use with ml.the ok icon is greyed out to finish the ok .it recognises the new firmware on screen.same with 2.03 .so just bought eos m with 14-45mm zoom for 130£.going get used to it for now.thanks for great review will just use the eos-m standard like you for now it came with 15-45mm zoom .got my iphone 13 pro max plus my drones dji mini 2 and mavic air 2 so plenty to shhot film .pics with .cheers steve in uk

exactly how i feel. so snug in the palm...great with a wrist wrap...I LOVE IT HOW IT IS...but geeking out with the ML is smart...M for mobile!

I have 3 bodies, also have a zacuto viewfinder which makes life easier if a little bulkier

Snap - I too have the original M with the 22mm pancake, can’t for the life of me work out why this camera gets so little love…feels rock solid in the hand, takes great images, as stealthy as a Ricoh but a fraction of the price, go figure

Thanks for your good review from photographers perspective and for the nice Images. I love my M with the 22mm, too, for its compactness and stealthiness. Give ML a try, it gives also photographers some nice features, like Focus peaking, multiple shutter release traps , intervalometer and Timelapse video ooc. ML is only on the SD card and does not overwrite the original firmware. Remove the card and ML disappear. Greetings from Germany, Michael

I got my Eos-M to take to Hawaii. I got some great photos with it on a 35mm TTArtisan lens. I have the 2.0.3 firmware so Magic Lantern doesn't work on it. I use my Canon SL2 camera for video anyways. I might not have the newest cameras but I know what these cameras can do. The Eos-M is so small but takes great photos.

I just picked one up with kit lens and flash for £150. I’m going to trade the flash for a speed booster. I was amazed at how tiny it is… my Panasonic s1 dwarfs it 😯

I have a couple, my first was an IR converted body for not much money at all. Got to say not a fan of ML except for time-lapse features.

Last week put in new batteries into my M & 22 f2.0 and I am not dissapointed. Also have a Sony A7 and sooc Sony is very cold, Fuji and Canon do a lot better imho.
