Claire Holt and Joseph Morgan’s performances carried the episode, even the actors playing their younger selves my poor heart 😩❤️

I adore Elijah. The way he just came in and threw Marcel across the room was hilarious. He basically put Marcel on timeout. Elijah know no matter how angry Klaus gets he cant really hurt Marcel bc the same way he will always see Rebecca as his littler sister, he will always see Marcel as his son.

Claire, Joseph and Daniel were absolutely phenomenal in this episode! Unbelievable how great they are portraing all these emotions and characters in general.

I love how calm Elijah always is when fighting with Klaus

This is definitely one of my favorite episodes of the show, if not my favorite. The flashbacks, the dialogue, and the conflict between the siblings, paired with the visual and vocal emotions, is phenomenal. Also, Rebekah's dialogue about the Mikaelson family being cursed is one of my favorite quotes of the show. That said, that ending with Klaus walking away from Marcel in silence and Elijah taking charge is _chef's kiss._

Rebekah and Klaus as kids always gives me chills and make me cry for some reason

I think Klaus pushed Rebekah to admit that she wanted him dead just to see how long she'll stand her ground about how she didn't want him dead just gone and when she actually admitted it he was shocked because she was his little sister and his only friend for years so he was just hurting so bad you could see it in his eyes

I like your speech at the end about parenting. Remember Mikael was a Viking so that pretty much tells you his growing up, his childhood and his parents way of raising him. And it’s suppose to also explain why Klaus is Klaus. He’s violent because this violence was passed down from generations and upped by vampirism and the werewolve gene

We did get that moment of her coming back in the last episode. Marcel carried her body to the attic in the white body bag. She gasped awake so we did get that moment. Remember?

The young Klaus and Rebekah are the cutest thing ever

28 minutes of Jer just falling in love with Elijah again, and again and again. Love it

Saddest part about Klaus's childhood is that his father treated him like shit before he even knew that klaus wasn't his son

The Klaus and Rebekah scenes in this episode always get me choked up 😩 The conversation at the cemetery right before she leaves, and that last scene with Klaus looking at the brave knight and Rebekah driving away was beautiful. There were so many complicated dynamics within the Mikaelsons and if there’s one thing that stayed consistent throughout the show was how well the writers navigated them.

all this reflection of brother and sister, "cursed always and forever", it still makes me very emotional every time i watch it. and end with Eli's speech imposing respect... HE'S SO BADASS, we're here to serve you sir 💅🏻

ILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS EPISODE

Easily my favorite episode of the whole show, it's the one I've remembered vividly since my first watch over 5 years ago. And it was all kinda just a conversation. The way the main 3 Mikaelsons interact is always written so well. Seeing their 3 vastly different personalities together is so entertaining, they've always reminded me of the Greek gods. Elijah being Zeus, Noble, Brave, and Powerful. Klaus being Hades the Villainous, Destructive, and Feared by almost everyone, is often interpreted as misunderstood. Rebekah being Poseidon, with her hot-headed and vengeful attitude. I think the writers did so good with them especially on this show and I wish Claire could've stuck around because I just love Rebekah's character

I was already a bit confused when you mentioned if we'll gonna see Davina waking up in this ep. during your last reaction, because there is actually a scene where we see her waking up in 1x15. You must have missed it. 😅

26:25 Mikael didn't know Klaus is from another father until they became vampire and Klaus killed someone for the first time and activated his werewolf curse. His abuse started from their childhood, knowing it's his own.

4:00 it did happen, marcel took her to the attic and we saw her come back to life... maybe you didn't watch that part, cause i dont remember seeing it on the reaction yesterday?

It's kinda funny how Marcel in this scene with Rebekah is saying that her brother came in this town like he own this place (umm, he did) and that he took his home, people and everything when Marcel did exactly the same to Mikaelsons first lol

Scene with young Rebekah and Klaus just always melts my heart

I reacted the same way, like Klaus kept pressuring her to admit it acting as if he knew that she wanted him to be killed, and looks so so surprised when Rebekah admitted it

the guy who plays mikael is soooo super funny irl. he gets along great with the cast too. Its so cool to see his acting so scary and then to see him on a panel is just... joyous.

I forgot how OP Elijah was in this show

I get the Klaus character. I kinda identify with him. There is still a human underneath all that ego and brutality. Think deeper, "pop the hood", and really listen to his words.

Even though I hate how they wrote Rebekah scenes most of the time, claire and Joseph on screen always end up making me cry 😂😂😂

This is such a sad episode, but that ending gets me everytime. Especially with Walkabout by the Augustines😭. TVD had decent music, but the music for the Originals is 🎇🎉 👌.

Everyone who thinks Klaus forced Rebekah to say she wanted him dead. I would like you to think back to TVD to Vampire Hunters The brotherhood of the Five 4x04. They daggered the entire Original family. Klaus was immune and saved his family. However he had to grab Rebekah and scream at her so she would tell the truth. Klaus was then tormented for 52 years because of the hunters curse. Simply for saving his family from Rebekah's mistake. Rebekah does not like to take responsibility for her actions unless pressured. Say what you want about Klaus but he never betrays or abandoned his siblings, not even Finn.

This episode is a piece of art. Their acting work is just flawless. The way they are so broken, so vulnerable, and still that love is there, no matter what, is perfection. But they did fuck up not showing Davina waking up.

Jer that moment with Davina waking up was in the last episode, I don't know how you've missed it

I understand why Klaus so mad and feeled Betrayed but I also get the others.

Favorite episode of season 1!

This episode was done so well! I understand both Klaus and Rebekah’s viewpoint in all of this. I’m slightly more sympathetic towards Rebekah though. Klaus has every right to be angry at Rebekah and Marcel. What they did was terrible. It’s very clear that they regretted it immediately after they did it though. Rebekah even tried to actively stop it after she did it, but it was too late by then. Klaus had very clearly just pushed them to their limit by that point, so they had a lapse in judgement and out of desperation they went to the extreme without really thinking of the consequences. It ended up backfiring on both of them, and Rebekah went years believing Marcel was dead, which I’m sure was punishment enough for her. Of course if Klaus hadn’t been such a controlling dick to Rebekah all those years, this whole issue wouldn’t have happened in the first place. Some people don’t believe Rebekah when she said that she didn’t think Klaus would be killed by their father, but I think that’s true to an extent. I’m sure part of her subconsciously knew that Klaus being permanently killed was a possibility, but I think she believed he would escape, and be on the run for a long time, leaving Rebekah to be free. This episode always makes me tear up. Rebekah and Klaus’s have such a complicated relationship, but they really do love each other.

Great episode for the relationship dynamics of all the Original family. I have alot of empathy for all of them in this episode, all deeply hurt and damaged by an abusive upbringing and too much pain to know what to do with. There's such a sad beauty in the goodbye between Rebekah and Klaus. Elijah taking over is such a great scene, he can shift his energy so quickly.

Ik im super late on this but at 38 minute mark on episode 15 of season 1 you do see sabina come back from the dead

The thing is, for Klaus, Rebekah and Marcel calling Mikael went much further than just them wanting him gone or dead. Mikael isn't just the monster who hunted him for a thousand years, he abused him his entire childhood and made him feel weak. Hearing of Rebekah's loyalty to him when it came to Mikael would make it worse, she saw how badly he damaged him and still brought him back to him. Marcel, he saved from his own abusive father, and yet he was still willing to bring Klaus' to town. He doesn't just see it as a betrayal with them wanting him dead, he saw it as them using his trauma against him. In my opinion, they went way too far and Klaus had every right to be upset. As for him pushing Rebekah to admit she wanted him dead and then being shocked when she did. It makes sense. I don't think he truly believed what he was saying, he was just angry and paranoid and scared and hurt, and lashing out and then when Rebekah confirmed his greatest fear it took him by surprise because there's always gonna be a part of him that just can't believe his sister would want that. But also, this entire thing is what led him to grieve his son for about a century. Putting the blame on himself, believing Marcel was dead. Only to then learn he was alive and had taken over the city they built instead of reaching out and letting them know he was alive. *Then* he learns that it was Marcel and Rebekah who brought Mikael to town and caused all of that. He told Cami that he lost the last part of himself that felt human that night (which I believe was Marcel mostly...) It all goes far deeper than just feeling betrayed that part of them wanted him dead and would take action on those feelings. All that being said, I *do* understand Marcel and Rebekah's side to it all. Klaus wasn't letting them be happy together (which btw, I can't really blame him for. Rebekah kinda helped Klaus raise him from what I can gather... She knew him when he was a child, then fell in love with him... It's weird... Unfortunately, that wasn't Klaus' issue with it... But still...) and they just wanted some happiness. They regretted it immediately, but they still did it. Back in the Pilot episode Klaus called Elijah a "Sentimental Fool." And yet Klaus is the one who managed to keep a toy he carved when he was a child and gave to Rebekah for *A THOUSAND YEARS!* I think he's a bit of a Sentimental Fool himself... 🤣 But yeah. I understand both sides, but I can't help but side with Klaus here. I mean, what did they think was gonna happen when Mikael showed up? That he'd just chase Klaus away or kill him, and leave everyone else alone? They didn't just put Klaus in danger, they put Elijah in danger, they put themselves in danger, they put *everyone* in danger. I am biased though, as Klaus is my favourite. But I do see both sides and I don't hate Rebekah or Marcel for what they did, I still love them, I just do not agree with their actions here at all...

I don't get why after Klaus said that Rebekah wanted him dead Elijah said "you're wrong". IT IS THE TRUE. She called for Mikael and she knew how that would end. The flasbback about her attempting to kill Mikael was amazing and powerful, but still that didn't erase the fact that she wanted Klaus death then... They spent centuries together on running away from Mikael. Don't tell me that she didn't knew that killing Klaus is what Mikael wants lol

I just had this thought! I think another thing they all struggle with is codependency. Think about it... before they turned they were Vikings and they all lived together in one home and were a family unit. There wasn't much independence because they stayed with their parents even as adults and when they turned they STILL stayed together and then they made the A&F promise which proves my point. They have never been without each other in 1,000 years so that's probably why Rebekah wants to leave but always struggles to. So add their own personal mental issues on top of that codependency and it makes perfect sense.

Rebekah is a betrayer and liar. Do you remember when the 5 tried to kill the entire original family... Everyone was daggerd. Klaus was the saving grace. Even after that Rebekah lied to Klaus until he pushed it and yelled at her.. Then she admitted everything about the cure and blah blah blah..... So i cant be mad at Klaus yelling at her in this instance for her to be honest for once.

Claire is just phenomenal in this episode, her whole speech about how their each broken is absolutely heartbreaking. Love this episode so much and how it focused on the family cause that’s what this show is ultimately about.
