I don’t think klaus being an original hybrid affects his ability to pull out the blade. It’s more of mental strength rather than physical. Mikael was a warrior and that’s why he could pull it out.

And Mikael, being a warrior, has a certain outlook on pain and suffering. It doesn't affect him that much as he may view it as something that everyone should face with pride and honor and overcome it easily, so he overpowers the pain of the blade that cripples almost everyone else.

I never noticed this whilst first watching the show but remember Klaus telling Cami he would carry her with him forever, he quite literally carries her as his consciousness now. The person he talks to when things get hard, his light in the dark.

Marcel saying that he's nothing like any of them and then mirroring Klaus's and Tyler's scene from the first season (with Klaus letting him leave with the knowledge that he's only alive because Klaus have shown him mercy) is pure perfection

Yeah but klaus only did that to get under Tyler’s skin knowing he couldn’t do anything to klaus however marcel could’ve killed them all there and then without blinking, but he had 2 real reasons why he didn’t 1. That he loves Rebekah a lot and 2. He couldn’t make hope an orphan as technically she is his sister. He knew it was a matter of time they would come back. His speech wasn’t wrong though marcel has knowhere near the body count they do as he said they have taken more lives, destroyed families and so on.

Josh is a sweetheart. Cami and Klaus's scenes this episode are lovely. Klaus being scared of what his impact on Hope might be is a great aspect to explore, he was scarred by his father, and fears inflicting that same pain on her. And of course he has an insanely complex relationship with Marcel.

Bars having underground tunnels especially in New Orleans where there are pubs crawling everywhere / alcohol was very important makes a lot of sense. Back in prohibition days that's one way alcohol was smuggled in secretly

“No quarter” means to show no mercy or to not spare one’s life. I think it’s supposed to be what leads up to the end of the episode where the opposite of “no quarter” happens, Marcel does in fact spare their lives and show mercy while also being a play on words for the Originals leaving the French Quarter.

That moment he saw his little girl again is so emotional to me. Last time he saw her she was this little baby who wouldn't say a word. Now he looks at her again and sees this whole new girl. The thought of that hurts. He probably felt super sad he missed seeing her grow to that person but also so happy to see Hope again. Next episode eek!

I don’t know why they didn’t link the originals to Rebekah at the end of last season. Now that I think about it... marcel could have bitten klaus but if Rebekah was the immortal keeping them alive then it wouldn’t have mattered if marcel bit klaus. Rebekah wasn’t dying, she was hexed and batshit crazy but she wasn’t dying so it seems to me that she was the obvious option.

I fricken love Marcels speech. Despite being raised by them he kept that moral self alive, him showing them mercy is something I guarantee they would never do when Marcel was growing up, now ofc they got a little humanity due to hope but still. As much as I love the MKs I think they did need a lil humble.

Did u forget that Marcel and Davina tortured and murdered innocent witches u know the reason the ancestors told Davina to never harm another witch again did she listen nope. Did u forget that in 1919 Marcel used Mikael to come and murder Klaus what did Mikael do oh that’s right he murdered innocent humans men, women and CHILDREN when he burned New Orleans to the ground. When Klaus ran New Orleans the vampires, werewolves, witches, and the humans all had equal say no when Marcel is in charge.

No worries he did pronounce "Teutoburg" pretty freely too. Don't know if it's the official english pronounciation, it's rooted in german though. "Teutoburger Wald" is a place/forrest basically where that historic battle took place, the romans got ambushed by the germanic (also called the "varian disaster"). Gonna leave it like that before I do another german lesson or leave all my knowledge from latin classes in school 😅🙈

I mean… being Christian or not agreeing with someone’s way of life I don’t think makes a person homophobic, it’s actions. For example, I can not agree to the gay lifestyle but still love, support, and accept a loved one who is. I’m not sure what His stance is, but I would hope Kol’s actor would not be down for protesting against a same couple who wants to get married, bully someone, or throw a loved one out just because they are gay for example. A true Christian can disagree, but still love the person for who they are because it’s not for us as Brothers or sisters to judge but our Father. ❤️ He’s the final say as the parent and we might catch His wrath too if He sees us trying to be judge and jury and not leaving it up to Him 👀👀 ain’t that what most parents do with their children? “If your sibling does something wrong you come to Me you have no right to dole out the punishment that’s my job!” 😂👏🏼
