REAL SPOILER ALERT!!!!! The acolytes of the beyond are the knights of ren. They are dark side worshipers. Once ben fell to the dark side he connected with them at some point in search for artifacts of the empire... which is how he got vader’s helmet. They discovered he was a skywalker.. Part of vader’s bloodline.. The acolytes began worship ben and they rebranded themselves as the knights of ren.. giving birth to their leader and giving him the name kylo ren.

The acolytes of the beyond being connected to the knights of Ren is an interesting theory . If I remember correctly from the Aftermath novels, the acolytes collected relics of Darth Vader, which would explain how Kylo got Vader’s helmet. It would also make sense as to why Kylo is their leader. I mean if the acolytes were that devoted to the memory of Vader, they probably figured Kylo being their leader was destined.

I wonder if Kylo Ren made his mask to be reminiscent of the knights of ren and not the other way around...

All knights are named --- Ren. What is Ren? Place? Person? Kylo killed someone, used the Force or was elevated due to lineage to be the leader.

The Stupendous Wave : Your videos are always so well written and presented but for some reason this video turned out extremely repetitive & redundant in it's narration to the point that it was very distracting, for example the term "... not the other way around..." was said 4 times, "The Knights of Ren" were repeated 17 times, the comment "...the knights were around before Kylo Ren..." was repeated 2 or 3 times, details were repeated several times such as "The helmet conceals his former identity as Ben Solo.." and then "..donned the mask to hide the essence of his own inner light", and then we heard 1) "In essence of his Grandfather Darth Vader...." 2) "..the massive lineage of his Grandfather Darth Vader" 3) "..reminiscent of the infamous mask his Grandfather Darth Vader....". The video eventually drives the listener a little crazy if you know what I mean lol. I hope you take this criticism constructively because it's not my intention to be disrespectful or unappreciative, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to bring this to light, especially since other views have noticed this.

Too much chrome on his helmet for my liking. I can't help but wonder if the KoR will end up being this movies Phasma, all hype only to have Rey drop a mountain on them.

That always made sense to me. Once Aftermath came out and we learned a bit of the KoR, I always assumed they were connected in someway. The acolytes talked about their reverence for the Sith and the importance of their artifacts and masks. We also know they utilized weapons but only few had lightsabers (or only that one we know of it the series). So the KOR seemed like they were directly linked to them since they were rocking these masks and none had lightsabers when we first saw them except Kylo. I’m sure we’ll find out they are connected. I’m about 99% sure they WERE the acoclytes at some point or they are an offshoot of them. Or they took their inspiration from them.

I always kind of theorized the KoR might have given Kylo his mask. Saved the best for him too from the looks of it. I'm guessing the acolytes of the beyond sought out Ben when the time was right. Crazy Vader fanatics (hate the term fanboy) that couldn't pass up the chance to serve his grandson. That's probably when they changed to KoR, but wtf is 'Ren'? I imagine they were like the age old dopey or cartoonish henchmen like, "whatta we do nextht bosth??!" And Kylo, sorta creeped out and thinking they're more pitiful than anything, doesn't know what to do with them so he just sends them on increasingly mundane or dangerous missions just to get away from them.

I think if the students Kylo took with him when he destroyed the temple and killed the Jedi aren’t the Knights Of Ren then they were probably the younglings, he couldn’t bring himself to kill them so he took and left them somewhere... a conflicted character like Kylo who’s not fully dark or light would do something like that, kill all the student who could fight and were trained but not the children who didn’t understand what was happening...

If we have to learn all this important back story from guide books and comics, then the directors failed.

The sequel trilogy will give a rock more character development and backstory before they give it to their characters

...all this while, in TLJ, Snoke's attitude clearly implies that Kylo solely built the mask out of his desire to imitate Darth Vader, as if the Knights of Ren weren't even a thing. The internal cohesion is strong with this trilogy. Anyway I'm extremely fascinated by these characters. I hope they have at least some cool action scenes in IX, if not some actual narrative weight (but that could be asking too much, I guess).

No One Cares And JJ Probably Ripped It Off From Somewhere Probably From The EU Like KYBO OR SOMEWHERE ELSE

Sorry guys, but the mind of J J Abrams doesn't function that way deep into Star Wars lore. Let me enlighten you all. Him and KK saw what Filoni did with Star Wars Rebels Sabine Wren. KK seen that started: "THAT that, I want a girl character like that." JJ in his immense creative mind, made Rey from mistakenly speaking Sabrine WRey. After that, to punch at Filoni, because all the fans wanted him to be head of LucasFilm, KK said she wants a crying baby boy and JJ turned again to Sabine WRen and created Ren. Boom Ren and Rey were born, both similar names, one strong and powerful, one a crybaby MAN. The Kylo part is from KK, she had some Kylos in that week from too much eating and too little farting. OR JJ knew that the movie gets out on Christmas and KK wanted a Ren as gift and he raised with a Ren as character in the movie and she was pleased, because her Rey would kick that boy TWICE. After that JJ copy-pasted the rest of A New Hope and then, he rested.

Sequel trilogy= Dumpster Fire

I've always loved the helmet, but goodness me, do I hate the "I've got to surpass so-and-so's legacy!" story arc that comes with it. Such a traditional and comfortable cliche, and done so lazily, it makes the character just an extension of a better written character. Its like a bad shonen anime character's drive, and I think any villain as visually striking as Kylo Ren deserves better.

I think its from Knights of Ren. But also it resembles Darth Vader. He has complexes. He cant rule the galaxy. No way. He's weak. May the Force be with you too

I have a question how many kyber crystals can exist in a single lightsaber and if there are multiple crystals in one how would they function? Would they make the blade thicker or longer with the increase its overall power? and what crystals are compatible in a Sith lightsaber? I have heard of crystals that cause unending pain and misery and I have heard of crystals of the Sith supposedly have the crate black blades like the Starkiller. I have even heard of a deep red Crystal supposedly made in the death throes of a planet whose star went supernova containing Echoes and screams of all the lives lost. And that of the three I have spoken up there are two the increase Darkseid powers.

Spoiler alert. Palpatine kills kylo before siphoning both kylo and reys force essence and Rey pulls off a Mary Sue and kills papa palp in the end, Rey constructs a new yellow lightsaber, and brands herself the new skywalker.

This is like a freshman in high school is writing an essay and desperately trying to make it sound college level, but lacking the broader knowledge of the subject matter and the vocabulary to explain it. Try this. Don't use the same word repeatedly unless necessary. Use a synonym. Don't repeat the same information unless you add something more than the last time you said it. Do those 2 things and you'll at least sound like a junior in high school trying to sound more educated than he his.

I thought the helmet had some type of functionality to it..I thought it was more of a tactical battle helmet with the ability to communicate with the other knights..when Kylo takes the helmet off doesn't the front piece covering the mouth area raise up mechanically..I thought it was air tight to keep out poisonous gasses or other types of harmful vapors..and I also thought that the inside was shrouded in darkness by the darkside and that was the reason you cant see his eyes..it doesn't have a visor over the eyes..just darkness.....I thought they put more detail and reasoning into that helmet...wasted creativity..
