as a north indian ,i think it is time everyone learns 3 language. english + mother tongue+ pick any from 22 lang . 3rd one for speaking only , no need to burden kids with grammar or writing. english is taking over, most of my rich friends kids can barely speak mother tongue. my nephew speaks hindi like he is nri kid from america. when i was in bengluru, people only wanted to speak english, so never got the chance to learn kannada. but when i was in a arab country i had to learn basic arabic, bcz no one wanted to converse in english.

Made to hate Sanskrit? Don't make me laugh with your idiotic clickbait question. Only state with more Sanskrit classes and teachers than Tamil Nadu are Karnataka and Maharasthra both of which still have Sanskrit speaking villages. Without Tamils preserving Sanskrit palmleaf manuscripts cowbelters would still be reading Persian, Turkish and Arabic scripts. Without Tamils devotion to Hinduism and spreading of Bhakti movement the weak North Indians who were conquered by foreign Muslims for 800+ years would all be worshipping Allah instead of our indigenous Hinduism. We should be asking why North Media and culture hates South Indians specifically Tamils for daring not to kowtow to their stupidity and accept Hindi as dominant language of India despite Hindi being an bastard language with many Arabic, Turkish and Persian loanwords. Even movie industry wise we see what accepting Hindi has done to Bengali industry essentially dismantling and destroying the industry that in the 70s was still the largest film industry in South Asia... and don't dare bring up acceptance when Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Assam and Haryana have all had Anti-Hindi riots where Bihari and UP migrants were attacked while Tamil Nadu has never had a riot against Hindi people.

When I was a kid, I used to think why a perticular thing is called as the way it is. Example, I could call a 'chair' as 'chur' or 'chaour' or 'charur' etc. any word can be used, why rigidity in language. But actually people are really dynamic, as you go from one to another geographical boundaries, languages and scripts are changing. Actually people are using any word the way which they like and that passes through generations. Yeah, Languages are really very rich in nature but that's not the only way.

Most north indians have given up their local dialects or languages and adopted hindi for easier, broad based commincation at an inter regional level. Why should the south be an exception to the nation building process? The need for a common language was emphasized by all the leading freedom fighters, from netaji bose to ambedkar.

The mental gymnastics this video is goung through is amazing - this guy is ignoring the wild elephant in the room standing right in front of him and trying to find the dog barking on the horizon. The modern fault line is no longer in this Aryan Dravidian nonsense that you're spouting but in the attitudes of both the Union government and the loud voices echoing across from the Hindi heartland. That's the real problem. It's about Union government policies that promote and invest significantly more on infrastructure, signage and education in Hindi than in any other Indian language. It's in the deliberate attempt, as specifically mentioned in the annual reports of several government departments and PUCs, to promote Hindi. A national department or organisation is mandated to develop Hindi at the cost of regional languages. It's the Hindi heartland politicians that come to power in the centre and demand Hindi be forcefully made the national language and lingua franca, threaten to impose the language. And there's track record of how Hindi has eroded dozens of more popular languages in Bihar - Maithili, Awadhi, Angika and many more have loat ground ever since the British elevated Hindi over other languages in an attempt to break the locals' link to their roots and power bases. Yes folks, modern Hindi is a colonizer's language. Add to that the attitude of so many loud North Indian voices who look down upon South Indian languages and demand that we all pick up Hindi. Demand that locals talk in the language of Hindi immigrants in their own hometowns. And the venom that are nowadays being spewed against Tamilians and Keralites, linking their linguistic identities to all sorts of vile beliefs. Address all of this instead of crying over spilt milk no one remembers or cares about. It's this sort of smokes and mirrors that seems to divert focus away from real issues fuelling the divide that gets a channel like this called out as a Sanghi channel. It has nothing do with religious beliefs or cultural pride or any of that sort - just the willingness to shift any accountability away from the core Sanghi voter base that's perpetuating this cycle of hatred. It's the language or its speakers that annoy us and get us to push back. It's this high handed tactics using Hindi as a blunt force weapon that is the problem. This is why even generally accommodating Kannadigas in Bangalore are losing patience.

The author states that the 2 british fellows had motives or were driven by ideology to spread their north south divide stories. Same applies to the author. He seems very driven to show a joint Sanskrit based origin and force of India. Even in this modern Era where ample genetics based proof have been presented on the diverse origins of not just peoples of India but also languages, he seem to be immersed in this unification zeal. Unification is good, but not through subjugation of the other sides. I don't see any will from northies to assimilate any other culture 😅. In fact the author doesn't know or conveniently ignores that most northies who are brought up in strict caste based families hate anything outside their caste..too bad for them though 😅😅😅. And I have a counter theory to his. I have a strong feeling that Indus valley civilization had no present day north Indians and the languages that they spoke gave rise to Tamil, Sanskrit and other Indian languages and influenced European languages.😊

No they don't..i tried to learn it as i have to raoam around for my study,my daily necessities,my pleasure time....and because of "Sanskrit" there are many words in Kannada which is symmetrical to my mother tongue "Bengali" . I am a Malayali who spent my first 25 yrs in Calcutta. My father was in ISI where there were a lot of people belonging to ( previous) Andhra Pradesh. Bengali/ Assamese have a small change of using "o"kaar for hrasva letters, 'ba' for 'va',etc Similarly ,for 'sha',Assamese use 'ha'( hence Ahom), same for people from Sylette,Karnataka who use 'ha' for 'pa'. Since I onow English, Malayalam ( southernmost state of India),Hindi and Bengali & can understand Tamil,I feel confident that I can travel to all parts of India and communicate my needs.Bengali,Marathi, all have loads of Sanskrit, and hence similar words as in Malayalam.Malayalam pronunciation is best,I felt, yet,in Marathi they say"punah, punah" for which in Malayalam we say "pinneyum pinneyum", such similarities are seen across the length and breadth of India.Only ,while in some languages, the term is used as a literary one,the other as a colloquial one I being a doctor, and knowing Bengali, one such example is:- Bengali patients come and say we have "vedana"( "Bedona" is used as 'sadhu bhasha in Bengali, while they use the term " byetha" --- "vyatha" used as literary word in Malayalam. We all are definitely one. There are many such words -- Bihu in Assam is Vishu for us,same day too. Malayalees wear a two-piece cloth very akin to Mekhla of Assam. Sabuj or Sabaz of Punjabi is Shobooj in Bengali -- meaning green. Lovely video.I hope you have the patience to go through this whole thing.

I have bot been to tamil nadu but i can kind of agree, but i can't agree their only being one sided victim. The so called Dravidianists don't just hate hindi but also hate on the immigrants from northern states and that too is truth. The major propoganda arises from making a racial divide between both people, while all of our cultures are interconnected. I guess we do need a language that culturally unites all of us, it can either be sanskrit which has absorbed and influenced everyone in the subcontinent through history, or it can be a new simplistic artificial language that is created by taking inspiration from every Bharti language. Also in some cases lingual hate is very much true, as one can see in Bengaluru where literally all shops with non kannada boards wete threatened or tried to vandalize them. A kind of hypocrisy is also that muslims in these states speaking urdu is tolerated but hindi speaking people are hated on.

Telangana Telugu people pronounce శ(श) correctly. But we pronounce the Retroflex sounds ణ, ళ, ష (ण, ळ, ष) as న, ల, శ (न, ल, श) respectively, because we don't have a habit of pronouncing ణ, ళ, ష in our dialect. As per my observation, Andhra Telugu people, Tamil, Odia and Assamese people pronounce శ(श) as 's' instead of using 'sh'. Like, instead of writing Shiva(शिव/శివ) they write it as Siva. Especially I observed Andhra people writing వంశీ / वंशी as Vamsi, while in Telangana we write it as Vamshi.

"The invaders destroyed temples in North India" - this particular ignorance should stop. To dictate invasion wasn't happening in south or the extreme idiocy of the same which dictate south wasn't faced with war is complete ignorance of history. Muslim invasion started in south much earlier than in north from Africa and our SE Asian friends weren't staying idol either, there are multiple reports of conquest and war made onshore and offshore with them. Heck did none of you wonder why many SE countries as South Indian, especially Tamizh flavors in their society and for some even their language is influenced by Tamizh. Not to mentions for thousands of years south was divided among four major kingdoms and they were at their necks at the chance and then there is forest/mountain tribe. Destruction of temples in North is not just subjected to invasions alone rather due to your own frivolous practices and lack of intolerance in every empire that ruled these region. And this shows even today. In simple words you people way too focused on religion...to the point you look like cult members.

And this idea is not started after british it was here way before from the sangam age , that's why Tamil is being the oldest language spoken by large number of people in the world. so the whole point is we don't hate any language we love our language and culture more than anything and we want to preserve it.

@@ChannaJayawardhana-h1o Yes, of course there are some sanskrit words mixed in Tamil, but those words don't have to be in Tamil and Tamil don't need that also, because Tamil can be spoken and written without the help of any other language's vocabularies, (which is not the case of some other languages that need Sanskrit or Tamil's vocabs to speak and write). So Tamil being like this why we have to mix sanskrit in Tamil to ruin is purity. And i am saying this again we don't hate any language , we hate any language imposition and we want to protect our languages purity like how our ancestors did , at least we will try. And i won't believe that point u said about Tamil started getting sanskrit vocab from 1bce or 1ad, it should be started hardly 600 or 700 years(maximum) before from now . Next is the “exclusion of Ravana” in Periya Puranam. One can write a thesis on this subject but let me make it simple. Any Tamil scholar who has some association with the Siva Tradition (not Saivite tradition) knows that the whole of the Periya Puranam is based on the “one poem” found and made available sometime in the 12th century (Suntarar - Tiruttondar Tiruvandhadhi - Thirumurai 7). The compiler of all these poems (Nambiyandar Nambi) created a verse using this single poem. Any one not found in this verse (including Manikavasagar of Siva Puranam) is not listed in the 63 Nayanmar, let alone Ravana. It is as simple as that. Now to provide more explanation, previous to this, these is no mention of the “history of any of them listed”, as they were made “lost” until the Chola Empire came to power in Tamil Nadu. Were the Chola Kings “truly responsible for bring these books out”- I am not sure, but what is the truth is that the 11 + 1 (= 12 Thirumurai books) and the (3 + 11 (= 14 Siva Sastra Books), were compiled / written during this period. Until this time the term “Saivite” was not recorded in any of the 11 + 3 original books of the Siva tradition. Next “Nambiyandar Nambi” arranged the poems in accordance with the “100 + 3 (=103) Panns (musical treatise of the Tamil tradition)”. Once again it was the “Aryan Sanskrit Brahmins” who had destroyed the “literature, music and the theatre tradition” of the Tamil people. So, the revival of Tamil treatise had to be stopped. So started the dual strategy of the Brahmins. As for the Sastra books they wrote the “explanation of the 3 books” and codified it as the “only true translation” of the so called “Saivite Madams”; while for the Thirumirai they created the “Periya Puranas” which were codified by the Brahmins and retained as the “history of the saints”. After the fall of the Chola Empire the Tamil tradition took another round of beating by the Aryan based Pallava Dynasty. The whole of the Tamil tradition would have been lost if not for the conquering of India by the British. That was an indirect benefit of the Tamils. Now after independence, this Tamil movement had to be stopped. So came this “traitors of DMK and Periyar”. DMK and Periyar are NOT people of the Tamil tradition. Their strategy (which I personally think) worked in cohort with the Brahmin or Aryan people. On one side this “DMK and Periyar followers” are preaching not to touch the “Tamil religious books and the temple”; while on the other hand the Aryans Brahmins are in full control of the “temples and the interpretation of the Tamil books.” This joined strategy of the “DMK and Periyar and the Aryan Brahmins” have perfectly prevented the Tamils to go deep into reviving the Tamil tradition and culture. This Periya Purana (including the Ramayana and Mahabaratha) are nothing but “made up mythology stories”. There many be some elements of “truth behind these stories, but which of them precisely is the truth” - no one knows. The Indians are only only people who still believe “monkeys can fly and tied people on stones can float”. Thanks to the “brainwashing” of the Sanskrit puranic tradition.

India should have a three language education policy. Students should learn Sandkrit, their mother tounge & any other Indian language of their choice (from those enlisted in our Constitition). Sanskrit should be our official language, & English optional foreign language. People will learn it if they find it useful. An appeal to the government, please do not limit education to wage earning skills only. It is of no value if it doesn't create responsible refined citizens for a country.

Lets say that the Dravidian languages are indeed a separate language family, that have over the millenia been influenced by Sankrit. All languages tend to evolve with time so then what difference does it make! As a Kannadiga, I concede that regardless of how the language started out, in its current spoken form it is atleast 40% Sanskrit. And honestly i find nothing wrong with that. If anything i am happy that Sanskrit is being preserved in the South when all the northern languages have become so heavily Persianized.

Ironically, Sanskrit is closer to Persian than any Dravidian language. The thing is that, both these languages are more Arabized, which is the main impurity here. Pure Persian words sound and appear similar to Indo-Aryan words. It will rather be great to get rid of this impurity 'Arabic' from both these beautiful languages. Plus, best thing would be actually speaking Modern Standard Sanskritised Hindi than just teaching in schools. Needs to be promoted through media. Stay away from Urduwood.

Brilliant work my brother. Amazing insights with proofs. Just my two cents on Hindi. You see I am a Bangali. I was raised in Gujarat and I now live in Mumbai. I can fluently converse in all the three (Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, and also Hindi) But imagine a truck driver or a tourist or a business consultant who has gone to a southern state for traveling or for work. You can't expect the person to suddenly know your language. It's the same thing for a Tamil or a Kannadiga in Gujarat or Bengal or Punjab. In that case we need a common language to smoothen the communication. Which language will cause the least time and effort? Bangla is the world's 7th most spoken language. But it will be extremely difficult for the entire nation to adopt Bangla. English is the world's most common language. But if we are to adopt the decolonization then we must let go of English as it causes a lot of class differences in Indians. Even most people from Southern India don't speak English. Hindi on the other hand is the 2nd most spoken language in the world and most popular language in India. It will take less time and effort for adopting Hindi than any other language. Now, a common argument given is that: Hindi will corrupt the mother tongue. Absolutely NO! I still speak Bangla and Gujarati with my parents, my spouse, my bong and gujju friends. In fact, due to inferiority complex I read Bengali literature of Sarat Chandra and Bankim Chandra. So, Hindi is easier to have a common language and no, it will only strengthen the influence of mother tongue.

What is Sanskrit ??? Let's learn about it first.. A language is called advanced only if it has its own script form ( written form) Sanskrit is not a single language its two different things.. 1. Vedic sanskrit 2. Classical sanskrit.... Vedic sanskrit ( 1500bce to 500ce)..... Vedic sanskrit is not a spoken language, not a written language... It's a language used in vedic literature.. Which is not used for spoken.... And it didnot have any written form... Thats why Vedic Sanskrit is written in all forms of script present in local indian geography like brahmic ( damma) script, pallava script, proto Tamil script..... Vedic sanskrit can't be understood without commentaries.. Because it's not used as a spoken form... If you don't believe this... Try to read or see all the literature forms between 1500bce to 1000ce... Sanskrit Is always written in brahmi script of many prakrit languages... If you towards south Sanskrit is written in pallava or Tamil script.... But it doesn't have its own script.... Classical sanskrit ( 500ce to 18th cen) is a hybrid language formed by the fusion of many prakrit languages and local dialects under the influence of Vedic Sanskrit... Thats why classical sanskrit is a literary language which is also not a spoken language.... Which is used only in literature and it can't be understood without giving bhavam ( explanation) separately.... Also classical sanskrit also don't have a script of its own... It derived its script from nagari script which was an evolved form of brahmi script ( u can find the similarities in word forms if u check them)..... That's why it calls it's script as devanagari script.. Which originated from Nagari script used for local languages spoken in Indian ( northern regions).... If you analysis any vedic text words of vedic Sanskrit it's root words and origin keeps spreading towards upper regions of Europe rather than coming down towards central and southern of indian sub continent.....it traces It's impact mostly on European.. Scandinavian Baltic areas....... Classical sanskrit on the other hand... indegenously developed in Indian subcontinent.... With infusion of prakrit languages... Astadyayi grammar and nagari script.... That's why classical sanskrit has many words from all languages... That doesn't make it origin language..... Also classical sanskrit is highly patronized during vijayanagara years... That's why it got more influence on Telugu and southern regions are the most important factors for classical Sanskrit to survive in literature form.... Because later 1000bce... Northern region had Persian influx and languages got evolved into many hindustani language forms with many script form with strong native dialects.... So how can a literary language be recognized as origin of language...??? This is just 1%.... If you keep analyzing linguistically the language is analyzed deeply..... To it's origin... But people don't know about all these and they don't even speak classical sanskrit.. They don't even know it... Still keep telling unaccounted statements... Because it's been connected with religion.. So that's the blind spot for Sanskrit as a language being not questioned...... I don't want you to blindly believe it... Read this and analyze yourself so U can get clarity.....

I'm a Tamilan. Its linguistically proved that Dravidian langs have separate origin & over time mixed with spoken Prakrit & Sanskrit langs. Today Tamil is the only Drav lang that can function independently without words of Indo-Aryan langs although such words circulate in TN ppls' vocabulary. Periyar was a leftist who hated not only Sanskrit but also Tamil! It was the efforts of Maraimalai Adigalar, an ardent Tamil Shivite priest who established pure Tamil movement, as a result of which practice of combining Tamil & Indo-Aryan langs words r abolished in press, newspapers, govt records, etc. Over time this resulted in increased pure Tamil words in ppls' vocabulary too (however English words r increasing due to globalisation). Tamilars don't hate any lang. Tamilars learn & adopt to regional langs wherever they work. We only oppose the imposition of langs in TN which is absolutely our rights. After independence Indian gov announced Hindi as National lang, told it must be used by all state govt & ppl must learn it. Then protests bursted in TN after which Congress reverted it. However Cen. Govts continue to impose Hindi in one way or other like through education policies which face criticisms. At last, Ravana celebration is due to recently increasing Tamil Nationalism ideology against Dravidianism. Ravana is speculated as ancient Tamil king (before Nayanmars' Bhakthi movement) as Sri Lanka was historically inhabited by Tamilars. This stands based on speculation that demons who opposed Vedic Yajnas are non-Aryan local leaders. Hope u r open minded & won't delete this comment.

@JayasuryaaGR 4 месяца назад
@@tmahavishnu Brahmins were living in Tamilakam during Sangam times, so Vedic culture was present. They too contributed to Tamil poems. Since Sanskrit didn't had its own writing script, Tamil was used to write Sanskrit (as told in this video too). Tholkappiyam created rules on how to use Sanskrit words in Tamil like Lakshman, Hanuman, etc. Tholkappiyar mentioned that he learnt phonology from previous Tamil literature called Ayndhiram (now lost). No evidence in ur saying that he borrowed literary theory from Sanskrit texts. Vedic hymns were orally transmitted for many generations, such practice was not with Tamil. But this is not way to conclude that Sanskrit was older to Tamil. Both the langs were independently evolved Vedic lang/Vedic Sanskrit -> Classical Sanskrit Ancient-Tamil/Proto-Dravidian -> Sangam Tamil -> Modern Tamil If u want to conclude the oldest lang based on ones influence on another, then Ancient-Tamil/Proto-Dravidian sounds r even present in Rig Vedic hymns which shows Tamil is older

At last you have asked 2 questions but actually those are one and same. Because periya Putnam it self story of 63 nayanmars. I think you want to learn the book completely. Answer to question: Shaivaite Sundarar listed 60 saints in his work "thuiruthondar thogai" and later namibiyandar nambi of Rajaraja chola time composed as another book expanding 60 to 63 by adding Sundarar and his parents. Periya Puranam expands it into a big book. Sundarar from chola region mostly included shaivaites from chola region followed by pallava pandya region and only 2 from chera that to his friends. None from Sri Lanka. That to most of them lived during Sundarar's time and other's story are just 200 -300 years earlier than him which he heard and noted. The story of 63 is to tell the people one can attain Shiva foot by just being devote and falling love of him. And not practicing high rituals and sacrifice like Buddhist jainism monks. Sundarar lived in 7th century before that tamil land was full of Buddhism and jainism. Now to point: Ravana was puranic character that to decipted as powerful person with 10 heads and 20 hands and with more powers. He is not equal to common man to include in list of 60. People accept him as devote of Shiva with great power. At last there are 12 tirumurai of books contains hymns towards lord Siva in Tamil. Most of them contain Ravana as great devotee of Shiva for e,.g malai mattrru pathigam (palindrome) songs of sambander mentioned Ravana.

@@santoshthakur1679 I respect Sanskrit, but it's not the mother language of India, if it's a mother language then why it's been spoken only by a particular set of people.... Even if you remove Sanskrit dialects and words from Telugu, kannada and Malayalam you can end up with a pure version of those languages, which has no connection with sanskriti, we respect the language but it's not our mother language....

Hello Sir If Sanskrit was the Top language, why its not existing? As you said, the upper caste people how they dominated all ancient people, their language Sanskrit also started dominating. So some Tamil people used to use Sanskrit words into Tamil Language in those days. Otherwise we Tamilians have NO Sanskrit origins. You can see only Tamil language is without Sanskrit. But in between some years it was considered a prestige if Sanskrit was used (how now adays we are using English words when we talk Telugu) And NAYANMAARS are not related with Ravanaa! Ravanaa is a King besides a Siva Bhakta! 63 Naayanmaars are not to be compared with Ravanaa. EVR was a human who fought for Untouchables. So this old man was a General Enemy for the Upper caste people. You should see the difference on the other side of the people also, gentleman🙏

This divide is purely political. In ancient India, the south of India was below the vindhya mountains, which includes today’s, maharashtra, KA, MP, TN, Orrisa, KL, AP and TL. Even tamizh has many sanskrit words in it. High time, we people let our egos off and stop acting like one is superior to the other. Nobody is higher or lower, no language is superior or inferior to the other. It doesn’t matter which language is oldest or youngest. Lets respect all languages and people and not be manipulated by the political ideologies that are dividing us.

@@Sundarin8du I partly agree with your points that pai and prakrit could have influenced sanskrit. Sanskrit is definitely a high level language, as it has vocabulary that can come can have. All of our vedas , shastras and smritis are in sanskrit- thats why its very important for hindus. It is important to realise this fact . Second - this divide is purely for political reasons. Thirdly, recently we have a lot of respect given to tamizh with the sengol and tamizh- kasi sangam . First time in history which nobody gave. Let us at least respect that they are putting an effort this time. Unlike previous times we were ignored. Just because other people dont have respect and values doesnt mean we lose our value and lose our culture by becoming so violebt and unwelcoming to outsiders. In India, people from all castes and states , across the length and breadth of this country are same. Which shows that our ancestors mingled with people from north, south, east and west. So, in a way many of our outsiders to the current state we are from. We need to stop this I am a pure fellow and outsiders to get out. Lets start from ourselves.

While I accept the fact that it was the European Christian missionaries' agenda to create North South divide and creating hatred towards Sanskrit language in Tamilnadu, But i don't believe one thing in this video. That is, you r trying to say that Telugu is nothing without Sanskrit. The fact is, we love Sanskrit and started using too much Sanskrit vocabulary to a point that we replaced or forgot the Telugu equivalent words. And the other reason is we didn't focus on preserving pure Telugu, that's why we started adopting the language that is famous during those times. For example, we didn't create any special word for Tractor in Telugu. We all use the English word Tractor to refer 🚜(tractor). Similarly, we were not much focused on creating new words or using pure Telugu vocabulary because we got used to adopting the language that's considered Professional and sophisticated, be it Sanskrit then, or English now.
