My guess is his abandonment issues were a trigger. His mother abandoned him as a child, his father left him by dying, his foster father figure also died. When Rebecca said she was seeing other guys, perhaps he saw it as another impending abandonment. He had already begun distancing himself from those in his life to insulate himself from the hurt caused by their leaving. Unfortunately it also walled him off from feeling empathy for others. His own emotional pain was all that he cared about. Rebecca's perceived rejection wounded him and he killed her for it. The other poor woman died because of what she witnessed.

@@rainbowunicornnun well no, you’ll rarely if ever have the same minds go through the same exact scenarios and react in the same ways, but childhoods like that statistically result in very predictable consistencies like stunted formation of the frontal lobe and predictable behavioral problems resulting from it, as well as the emotional damage that is less predictable but still consistent in resulting in serious behavioral and personality issues. I’m still not sure exactly what your point is… of course the extent of the damage and the expression of that damage isn’t always exactly the same, but the question was “what is wrong with this kid?”, and there was a rather large explanation given. If you’re going to speculate, I’d speculate more on whether he’d have reached this point if he hasn’t been subjected to that childhood, or had early childhood intervention. Stats change dramatically there, and I bet not. So I’m willing to go out on a limb and say yes, that’s the bulk of what’s wrong here. I’m sorry, very tired of armchair RU-vid truecrime fans throwing around the same three diagnoses for every inexplicable murder, dx that we wouldn’t even use in actual clinical settings until spending MONTHS of in depth, one on one time with a patient.

As a psychology student, I recall studying about these patterns in behavior in men that grew up in bad socioeconomic conditions with abusive or maltreating mothers. These individuals can later develop a strong hate for any woman... which unfortunately can lead to very tragic scenes. I liked Adrian's respectful tone when covering these cases. I think it's important. True crime vloggers at the end of the day are essentially interlopers. Their content is not produced in cooperation with the family. They weren't there when it happened. They didn't see the evidence first hand or deliberate in a jury. As such coming from such a remote viewpoint, I think being tactful, respectful and non judgmental is important.

My theory is that they all end up talking more and more to demons. There the little voices in your head who proposes you to do bad stuff it can be little like go ahead and steal this cigarette from your friend he’s not going to know it right? And if you give into them they will grow and ask more horrific things. The moment he start talking to them was when he didn’t shower and stayed on the internet etc… In the vast majority of cases we’ve learned that demons were involved but since it not science police don’t follow that clue even tho it’s pretty obvious. That’s the one common thing in all of those cases.

Mother shouldn’t have been allowed to breed ... Had the poverty-stricken alcoholic (likely with mental problems, clearly not prepared nor fit to raise children) NOT had a kid(s)-there wd be no one to be failed, no one to fall through the cracks. Two people still living... Sad that we’ve come to a place where instead of preventing HUGE problems, we’re ok with just cleaning up the messes they create. Crazy. If you’re a true crime hound, start keeping track of how many perpetrators in these stories come from absolutely dysfunctional “families”, born to people not fit to raise rodents. Their offspring don’t stand a chance of growing up healthy, well-adjusted adults who make a positive difference in the world. There’s no amount of putty, duct tape and glue (re: “falling through the cracks” ) ; no amount of counseling can make them whole and healthy. Ya’ can’t undo shit genetics and /or the damage done to children in their formative years. Even if they’re adopted early-& raised by decent people- they often still go off the rails. Best just to prevent it from happening at all. Ya’ have to have a license to catch a fish... There should be at least SOME minimum requirements to meet before people are allowed to spawn.

His lack of intellect.... I know the "classic fetal alcohol look" and just because he doesn't have those doesn't mean his developing brain wasn't affected. I realize many people are raised by ill equipped parents and turn out to not be murderers. For all the video's I have watched on this Channel and RU-vid I never thought I'd see one that not only mentions where I live but also a girl I knew as a child. Jessie was a human like no other. She came came from a wonderful family and had a heart bigger and with more kindness than her small body could hold. Her Grandfather died of a broken heart shortly after this tragic end of her life as she was his world. 2 young ladies lost at the beginning of their loves to a man that had his ego bruised like we hear of far too often. Rest peacefully ladies x

The impact of formative years is WAY exaggerated because of ideological reasons. It is rare for past trauma to cause emotional reactions which makes them not responsible, and this guy in the video obviously likes "cool violence" which gives an obvious alternative explanation. This guy was into "cool violence", he absolutely didn't just lose his temper and the agony of his past made it murderous or else curl into a ball weeping.

No doubt he was a sociopath that had been made by the awful people in his early life. Yes, some people can rise above such a cold and abusive start in life, not all have what it takes. Removing them from society permanently to protect innocent people might often be the best that can be done,

I totally get what you’re saying, but it unfortunately opens a can of worms of “you didn’t commit a crime, but statistics show you have a much higher chance of murdering someone etc., so we’re removing you from society” people would say it’s injustice, even though you’re right, it probably would save many. 😔

When he was being looked after by the old couple, that appeared to make a big difference in his behaviour. If there was proper care for people like him, including mental health medical care, that would be a far more humane place to start than preemtively incarcerating anyone who could be deemed a potential threat to society.

I live in the area where Jose lived, and I met the guy in the months preceding the murders and I wouldn't have said he was capable of these murders. He had no self-esteem and often put himself down, I think he showed no remorse because he regretted the murder and wanted to be punished for what he did. What I am trying to say is that the description of him being cold is not my experience of the man, he seemed kind and caring. Things obviously changed and I honestly dunno what set him off but it is tragic for all involved. I clearly remember my coworker, a family friend to Rebecca, crying when the body was found. It was a huge shock to the whole community.
