After more than 9 months of planning, waiting online for hours to get tickets, cancelled flights and other general chaos we've finally made it down to Tassie and get going on 'The Overland Track'.
Join me (Steve), Rob, Zak and Gary on this crazy adventure as we spend 8 nights exploring 'The Overland Track' and some of the side trips in the pristine Tasmanian high country.
Special thanks to Karleen & Brad (our support crew), Tasmania Parks & Wildlife Service for the awesome work maintaining the track and to Zak for sharing some of his video footage with me.
Check out Zaks channel ‪@tictacaus1554‬
Subscribe for the next episode which will be up soon.
See you on the road (or track)!
Cheers
Steve

ABOUT THE OVERLAND TRACK:
The Overland Track in Tasmania is one of Australia's most iconic multi-day hiking tracks.
Running from Cradle Mountain in the north to Lake St Clair in the south, the 80km track snakes its way through pristine Tasmanian high country wilderness.
Around 8000 people each year tackle the track and many like me keep going back again and again.
The track can be completed in around 5 nights but we'll be taking 8 nights to allow extra time for some of the side trips along the way . . . Barn Bluff, Mt Ossa etc.
In this video series I'll take you with me through the pre-trip planning & preparation, the track and side trips and a wrap up at the end once I get home.
Enjoy . . . and Subscribe.
See you on the track.
Cheers
Steve

Great video. There was a bit of a lion king moment there at the top of the bluff. Gary and Zak reminded me of Mufusa and Simba. 😂😂😂 Spectacular shots. Well done.

I've climbed up to Marions lookout, overlooking Cradle Mt. I haven't gone further on the track - I choose to watch videos of other people doing it. The climb up Barn Bluff looks similar in areas to the climb up Mt Murchison (I've done that - about 20 years ago).

Tassie has so much to offer, you definitely picked a good time to go. Hint ... when you talk about Launceston, pronounce it Lonceston, we can pick a foreigner from the moment they speak 😏

Great Vid - what footwear would you recommend for OT in late April?
@ExpeditionAustralia
@ExpeditionAustralia 3 месяца назад
Thanks. I’d go with my Keen Targhee boots which are very comfortable, light and waterproof. Some people prefer hiking shoes than boots but there are lots of rocks and tree roots on the track making opportunities to twist your ankle so boots are more protective. Also late April you’ll likely get more rain than we did. Might be worth checking out waterproof socks. I haven’t used them but I’ve heard good reports.

About 18 months. Jen took a job opportunity here. It's a good chance to explore SE Asia.

It’s not that dramatic. Hiked it for the first time thirty years ago and each time after, the degradation is palpable. Social media has ruined it. If you think it’s wonderful now, visit the Barrier Reef!
