While deep into the hiatus for The Owl House, I wanted to bring something different today: some extra content from OUTSIDE of the show! Today we'll be diving into the story of The Owl House Fan Musical by ‪@JoriahKwame‬, how it came to be, and how this relates back to you! It's a tale of two franchises from two entirely separate companies, Netflix and Disney, coming together to make something truly special!
*BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!* I also had the privilege of being able to connect with the ultra talented DulceaDraws! She's an animal artist who was best know in The Owl House Community for her popular Ordinary animatic. She kindly offered her insight into what she has been up to, what she's looking forward to, and what ultimately lead to her channel's deletion!

God, fandoms can really suck sometimes. I love TOH, and I love TOH fan content, but I can't imagine constantly hounding someone to make more to the point of driving them from the fandom completely.

I know, but the sad thing is it. This happens more often than you think, there are a lot of people who just wanted tipped their toes as of and that they were inspired to, or just wanted to make something that they felt was pretty cool and nice just to be expected to continue being put out of that stuff. I’ve seen many of my friends who are into art, and animation end up, just blacklisted that part of a fandom due to how fast and how hard the demands come in. I understand how excited making contact for a fandom can get people and it’s a good boots. If they wanna do that thing is they have to want to do that these creators we’re just keeping their toes trying to experiment with something new that they liked, and then some just turn into an expectation, rather than a exception.

Some forget (or don't care) that there's an actual person at the other end of their demands, not a machine or person whose sole purpose is to amuse them. So many people have given up something they love because of those "fans;" they drive away creators, performers, and other fans. It's heartbreaking, really.

I'm glad that the fandom adopted Little Miss Perfect because it feels so open that everyone could project onto it; and even tho Ordinary is more specific it still has that essence that make it have the same outcome. It's also important to note that Little Miss Perfect is the name of a standalone musical by Joriah Kwame based around the song, and the demo album released a little bit before The Owl House Fan Musical. Definitely deserves some more attention IMO

Imma give you my story of not being ordinary. When I was little, I wasn't much into LGBT and all the kind of stuff, love was gross to me, but, of course, that was expected from a child, but as a grew older I've became someone who loves romance and started reading romance stories, the only thing that threw that romance side of me off was two boys that always made out by my locker after lunch in high school, now I wasn't homophobic, but, LGBT was still not a big part in my life, I never really focused on myself and my sexuality, I just thought of myself as straight and moved on with my life, as time went by though alittle after high school, alot of people kept recommending me to watch TOH and after I did watch it, the show is what got me thinking about my sexuality, I started to think of myself, not only dating a boy but also dating a girl, I was dating a boy at the time and dating a girl didn't bother me, so, I started identifying as biromantic which my family kept saying I wasn't because I not only never dated a girl in my life, but they didn't think biromantic was a thing, but, I didn't let them stop me from being who I was or felt what I am, a bit later the guy I was dating at the time left me in the middle of the night through a window, I broke with him once but I regretted it and my step dad helped us rekindle the relationship only for him to leave me, I was devistated, I decided to not go after a boy after that because every boy I dated always left me, so, I started looking for a girl to date, alittle bit after the episode knock Knock Knockin On Hooty's Door, I met this girl on amino that identified as Bisexual, and, we started out as just friends, roleplaying and stuff like that, until we started talking about our life, she was going through similar problems that I was going through, dating a guy that always unfortunately never went well, and I suggested that maybe, if we start liking each other, we could try to date, which she agreed, but, we still wanted to get to know each other, well, we called and played games and talked and of course, I started falling, but I was scared she didn't because even though her profile said bisexual, she told me she was still questioning which made me afraid to confess, one day, I was at my friends, and she confessed to me one day she liked me, I was so happy and my friend noticed and knew what had happened because I told her of my crush, I am now happily dating this girl and indentify as Bisexual but still questioning if I'm lesbian as my attraction to even thinking a guy is cute has faded. Hi, thank you for being willing to share your story! I'm very happy that you were able to find someone who you were able to connect with emotionally, that you two were able to get together, and that she was honest with you. I hope it isn't out of line to offer some advice (nor do you have to listen or follow it), but since you mentioned that you were questioning if you were lesbian I think there are a couple of important things to keep in mind: First, that you are still young and that you have plenty of time to discover yourself, what you want, and most importantly what you need. I hope that is something that you and your partner can discover together, but always remember to give time to figure some things out by yourself too. Processes like this can take years, but doing so can make you more confident in yourself and in turn make your relationships stronger. Second, remember that sexuality can be fluid for many people. It is okay to identify as bisexual at some point, then identify as lesbian at others. It could change in the future as well, but I must stress that how you identify at any point in your life is both VALID and TRUE. Even if you hadn't dated a girl and still identified as lesbian, that wouldn't make you any less deserving of that identity than anyone else. I see that you stood by this when it came to your family denying your biromantic identity, and I only want to reiterate my support for your thoughts on that. I think that is beautiful that this show had such an important and profound effect on you and I appreciate you leaving a comment on my video talking about that. I wish you and your partner so much happiness together! And as far as you continuing to figure yourself out, I hope you are able to find your own perfect and live it without limitations and wear it with pride!

Oh cramity! Amity! This is probably one of the most beautiful videos I've ever watched! The "this video is for you" part actually brought tears to my eyes and I love how you incorporated the song lyrics at that part! I've been in the fandom since like the s1a hiatus, only a few weeks before the s1b trailer came out. I remember seeing little miss perfect rise to popularity and the fandom freaking abt Lumity in the grom outfits in the hallway after the trailer. The fandom was so small back then and it feels unreal how big it has become now I'm also really glad to hear Dulcea is doing alright :), I always wondered where the original animatic went. This fandom has been such a great experience, the owl house means so so SO much to me. And I can't wait for it to come back :D I loved hearing about the history of these songs and I'm excited to see what you do next! You're really underrated I love your content so far! :)

Oh cramity, Amity! When the Owl House came out, I was disappointed that the protagonist had a name similar to the love rival (who becomes the love interest later because the protagonist is bisexual) in my story (Lucian, nicknamed Luce) and I would have to pick a different name. But now, knowing that there are two time travelers with the same name in different works of fiction, (Lucca/Luka) I have hope that people won't compare my books to the Owl House. And if they do, so what? There must be over a million fictional characters with the same name.

Thank you for being a real witch! I think as long as the content is telling it's own story you have nothing to worry about. Trying to say your work is too similar to the Owl House simply because it also has a bisexual character in it and/or a character named Luce which sounds like Luz is a very shallow criticism. Just focus on telling a good story that can stand on its own and you can absolutely keep the name if you really like it 😁

I've been in this fandom since the show was starting to get created back in 2016 with Alex Hirsch's charity stream VODS on RU-vid that featured Dana and some drawings of characters that i knew would be so beloved, seeing the fans grow in such a way with them makes me so happy The way you took all the words i had in mind and didn't hesitate to use those references... Like i can relate to both songs except for the triggering topic, i went through both situations in similar ways and i am really glad this video is out there to really send their message in such a genuine direct way as some ppl out there still need to know its importance Your hardwork was worth it, man And hopefully ppl will like this sort of content regardless of what fandom it's dedicated to because you got skills As always i will be here for what's next, even if i wasn't as much of an OG this time

Wow. This video is exactly what I needed. A short time after I finally watched the Owl House, noticIng that all my favourite She-Ra youtubers also liked this other show, I was scouring the Internet looking for content. Some crack videos referencing LMP led me to check it out. After watching both of the most popular animatics, memorizing both songs and adopting Ordinary as one of my all-time favourites, I read some comments and looked up some stuff to discover that there was some kind of Owl House musical. I wasn’t sure if it was in the works, done, or completely forgotten about- without a clear timeline I had no idea. The animatics that I found were also, weirdly, reuploads of videos that had been taken down for reasons I couldn’t find. I assumed there must be a story beneath all this, but resigned to never really understanding it. Then a few months later, RU-vid recommends me this! This video confirmed some assumptions, clarified and disproved others and I’m happy to finally understand what went on behind the scenes. Thank you!

That end to the vid, really spoke to me... Coming from a bad upbringing and with a lot against, family being pushy and... Yeah, after fighting a lot of demons (maybe some far more scary than the ones in the Boiling Isles) and finally embracing who I am and who I want to be in the future, no matter how early or how late I might be, truly makes me feel free. one very minor complaint, little miss perfect doesn't end with "it's never worth it to be little miss perfect" it ends with "it's never worth it when you're little miss perfect", her self doubt and insecurities won this battle, she denies it and indulging in things that make you happy isn't worth it for herself, it's an acknowledgement and sorrow over a harsh defeat, it's an entirely different tone to end on

Holly shit dude, I am a long time fan of musical theater. I knew Louderman from Mean Girls, and Joriah from the competiton Write Out Loud. I have been blasting Little MIss Perfect and Ordiinary for years now on my playlists, even before I knew Owl House existed, and I had interpreted them as a back to back pair of songs telling the story of two girls trying to navigate their feelings for each other. I had no idea about the songs' relation to Joriah's personal history, 13 reasons why and even less, the link to Lumity. I just learned about it today... I feel like I just found the missing piece of something that meant a lot to me for years, in something that means a lot to me now. You really need to keep making this videos kid. Either about the Owl house or any other IP, your commentary and insights are gold.

Oh Cramity! Amity! Not gonna lie, these two songs are so darn important to me. Like, the song "Ordinary" resonates with me so much and is still one of my favorite songs to this day. The song is just so relatable despite being geared more towards The Owl House. Anyways, this was an excellent video and I loved hearing about the history behind these songs. Awesome video! This hit me hard because these songs were the reason I came into this fandom. Before I had ever heard of The Owl House, I clicked on a little miss perfect animatic (one that may or may not be the one you are talking about, I’m not sure). I watched little miss perfect and ordinary over and over, falling in love with the characters before meeting them. The owl house is currently such a pivotal and important part of my current life right now that this video nearly made me cry. (I’m also really sad that the ordinary animatic that introduced me to this fandom, the one I spent so much time watching is gone). I live in these shows. These characters have become part of my life and these songs are the reason. I’m so happy to know the story around them and know that someone shares my love for these, the animatics that made me happy. Thank you.

This actually makes so much sense as to why the song "Ordinary" fits Luz so well! Also DulceaDraws's animatic of Ordinary was one of the first that I listened to. I also realize that in Ordinary the voice in the song kind of sounds like Luz's voice (atleast to me it does) It's probably just me though.

Unfortunately there are often a variety of reasons that people can't do what they'd love to do, and I am sorry to hear that there are circumstances that have made this the case for you. However, that being said, the fact that you still love what you do and want to write it down for the future means that your passion is still alive and that is the most important thing. Talent and resources can only take people so far if you don't have the passion for it, there is a big difference between being good at something and loving to do it. As long as your passion is alive, you still are true to yourself. It's also worth looking into if maybe there are other things similar in the field as well. Some aspiring singers who can't sing or don't want to be in the spotlight end up being some of the greatest song writers of all time. This is just an example, but my hope is that you are able to keep your dreams alive and find your way to them one day. Sometimes our paths are forged through unexpected turns, but sometimes where we end up is exactly where we needed to go. I wish the best to you and your dreams. Even if it might not be possible yet, please don't ever forget your passion.

I'm already a lot older than the majority of this fandom, but I know I'm not the only one old enough to be someone's grandmother (that was weird to write, but several of my peers are grandparents). Your conclusion is excellent. Life is too short to not try something you've always wanted to do. Yes, there are things that will never happen, but there's always room for another dream. I've been to more funerals than birthday parties in the last decade, seen too many regrets of things not done. There are always more of those than regrets of things you have done. Finally, Oh Cramity, Amity!
