THE PAINFUL UNTOLD STORY OF INDIRA POINT (11 DEATH'S) 

21 June '24 My dad was the Commanding Office AT COAST GUARD base at Campbell Bay in the year 1984-85. I was a lil girl of 12 years when I visited & climbed this LIGHT HOUSE at Pigmilleun Point / Indira Point. In those days this tower was surrounded by green vegetation and only from one side the beach was accessible. I remember the crocodile 🐊 lying on the beach 🏖 hard 50 0 metres away. But now in ur video 🎥 I I see a great change in this as it's surrounded by sea 🌊. My dad said that from far away from the light house, foreign ships 🚢 cud be seen.. Till today on the Coast Guard base in Campbell Bay we have planted coconut 🌴. Sorry to know about the loss of life of so many of officials n their fam there. RIP

Tsumani ke time meri sister Dr. Hemawathi Campbell mey posting thi. Sath mey unka 7 yrs ka beta bhi tha. Bahut dar gye tey. Unko tho duty karna tha. Beta ko yek paper mey Port blair ka address lik kar gale mey tanga kar helicopter chada dhi. Subah chada bacha rath ko pahuncha uss address mey. Waise bhi Campbell Bay mey earthquake aatey rahtha tha joola jaisa hiltha tha. Sayadh 1980 -81 hoga. Port blair se transfer mey gye log wahan rahne ko dartey tey.

It was a horrific moment , nightmare for millions , when tsunami created catastrophic destruction in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and other parts of India as well as a few neighbouring countries. Four scientists perished due to tsunami . We used to climb up the stairs of the light house in 1977. Several times, whenever we thought of making a trip. On one trip the Director , Light House & Light Ship Mr Mohan & his wife accompanied us upto the light house. Mr S.B. Roy , Conservator of Forests was also with us. Any idea how the light house is serviced now a days since it is submerged now. In 2010 we had a helicopter sortie over the entire GNI. I felt totally morose when we sighted the link ght house and it's surroundings ------all under mass of water. Giant trees, lofty coconut trees all submerged. From your video it seems water level has subsided to some extent. I pray for the souls of the departed persons. Om shanti, om shanti, om shanti.

When I visited Indira Point during May 1992, there was a good Helipad n garden. It was maintained by Border Roads Organisation. (GREF). Presently, some project is going on.
