I worked retail and fast food from ages 15 through 24. During that time it really became clear that if you wanted to get anywhere you needed to be able to learn new stuff quickly, even if you didn't retain it (per your printer story). After that I got a job in a call center for an industry I didn't know existed. I learned all I could as fast as I could to be better at my job then and now I've been in "Building Automation" for 16+ years. I'm still learning even though I'm considered an "expert" in my industry now. The key to surviving retail and any job is to be able to learn.

How time has passed.. i remember watching your overwatch streams and videos whenever i could as well as rocket league here and there. You also ended up getting me more obsessed with fortnite in season 1 and made wanna buy skull trooper when i saw your stream with a new skin 😂 thank you being such a good content creator and influence. I also remember once in your rocket league streams you were mocking your friend and i said "alex is an abuser" 😭 you laughed and said noo but shortly after someone muted me and recently I wondered if I was still muted to this day. Thank you being such a big part of my childhood.

Here's my wall of text (or some sort of me venting this out of it) of my bad experience working on the retail I used to work as a night-filler last year (in the supermarket, not going to tell where I worked at because privacy) as casual, meaning that the leader would randomly message me if I'm free for the evening. I would fill out around two to three ales on every shift I had. It was initially hard at first, but because the leader knows it's my first time doing it, he would help me to where the products are needed to put in (along with other employees who are nice of me). It took me a week to get used on the one ales and another as I became quicker on sorting the products. It was fine within the first month until I've got a different leader. The leader that I used to had most likely had plans to resign from his position to work somewhere else at full time. The new leader told me to sort all of the drinkable liquids. The problem is that this is my first time doing it so I decided on doing it without telling him that this is my first time doing, because a lot of drinkable liquids are sorted on many, and I said many of the ales that I'm not familiar with. I decided to take my time on where the products are. because of it, the different leader started to scold me to "move quickly", at which I said, "this is my first time sorting this on different ales, chill out! It's going to take a while", at which he started to tell me to "Even if is your first time doing it, do it quickly". He started telling me to "Go faster, I don't care if is your first time doing it." It got worse when the supermarket closes down at 10pm where I had to help other employees with sorting on other ales on what items I should sort out. Unfortunately, there was a lot of miscommunications between the leader and other employees on where they're supposed to work, so naturally, the new leader starts berating me for being incompetent with my job despite helping other employees on their ales. And he proceeded to ordered me to help an another employee on the different ales (not to mention that ales I was trying to sort isn't complete and it's been taken over by someone). Then of course I obeyed his order and help on another employee on the different ales. It became a reoccurring issue until my shift was over, that I left a big sigh. It gotten to the point that I started to hate him because he would pick me for no reason, even if I'm doing the proper things like sorting items or helping other employees. The next day, I was summoned by the head manager because the new manager made a complaint on me which I find it very absurd and and I told the truth about my last shift. Unfortunately, he didn't believed me and he decided to transfer me to work on the deli instead of the night fill shift. I should've told my head manager that I quit this job, but I decided to do it, something that I'll end up regretting it on doing it. And funny enough, I was working at deli at the first day, I had a hard time operating the meat machine to the point the had manager decided to fire me on the spot. There's only one person doing other things and I'm left alone figuring out what I'm supposed to do. I felt free from the prison work, but felt the annoyance over a miscommunication and misorganised team. There's the thing where I could sue the employees for improper work placement, but I decided not to do it as I don't want to waste my time (and my family one since we're too broke to hire a lawyer on it) on doing it since I don't want to work on this piece of hell-hole again along with other retail stores as I don't want to relive the moments again. I'd just wish I should've work in the supermarket because my mum forced me to work as she is very worried about me just doing nothing but doom scrolling something online (which is technically true, but I'm more sane enough not to lash out other people over their opinion) because I dropped out a subject over lockdown because everything is online (though I wished I should've dropped out). And it still bothers to me to this day.
