It took the pressure of making a solos video with fellow RU-vidrs to finally make me break down and learn the end solo section of Paradise City by Guns n' Roses. It took many hours but I finally have a cool way to play it so I wanted to show you how.

@@slash2220 Actually a correction on my last comment, this one has a mistake as well. After the initial 10 11-P-10-P-8 (pull offs) he plays 10 on the second then 9 on the third and 8 on the second. The original slash versions plays that 10-9-8 with 10 on the the third 10 on the second and 10 on the third again (10-10-10).

I've been delving into Slash recently and falling in love with his playing. However, some of his songs are damn hard. I'm tired of Anastasia, a very difficult piece for me, especially the solo parts. It's a pity I only recently appreciated Slash!

Man, I love Anastasia, I just got that part down, where it's 10-12-13-12-10-13-12-13 starting on the B and E strings and so on, finally! I just used Guitars Pro, slowed it down and worked my way up from there. I know you're into Slash but check out Alter Bridge, Metalingus and Blackbird, especially, is a bi***! The Paradise City solo is one of the very few that still blow me away after years of playing. Most solos can be broken down to a few sections where you can kinda map out what the player was doing, but this is just on another level, you can tell he wasn't mechanically thinking of any of the phrases, they just flow so perfectly.

One thing ulis hate as a guitar player that mainly learns covers of songs by ear and just sounding it all out trial by error....but I notice when it comes to solos...like this one is a perfect example. Now, I'm not like knowledgeable in any sense when it comes to all the technical terms and aspects of guitar I can read tabs but not sheet music....I dont know any of the chords by heart, really. I can barely remember the letters of each string other than low E and High e ...so when I go off of feeling, by ear....its actually REALLY hard to follow solos that have soo many notes shoved into such a small spot and when I hear it being played at a much slower tempo I cant tell which part I'm at in the actual song to reference, like I normally do in my head when I'm learning a cover of a song i know, and like so it makes it much easier to figure out what i need to play by kinda just replaying the part I'm at in the solo or bridge part of the song mentally in my mind....but when some solos are being played slow it doesnt sound nothing like the familiar solo I'm use to hearing so then I'm lost lol but as soon as its sped up it sounds right but for me it's just hard to follow at first when just trying to memorize the right strings and frets and being played at a slow pace to get the speed up.....like sometimes I want to play infront of like a guitar instructor or just anybody that has much more experience on the technical side of guitar playing to watch how I play so they can tell me the things I'm not doing correctly or what I can change in my playing to make it sound better to get an idea of the issues I have and to see what I'm good at and what I need more work on....like just watching my favorite guitarist Chuck Schuldiner playing live I noticed to basically ALWAYS keep the shape of a power chord when playing... and instead of going all the way from the bottom to the top of the fretboard on just one string...to go across the fretboard using the other strings to play those same notes but it then sounds much much tighter and faster when playing across the fretboard instead of stretching all over the fretboard on the same string (sorry if its confusing lol like I said I dont know the technical terms to explain it. But the easiest way for me is to just show what i mean on the guitar)
