Because I swear they said that runeterra didn't have the same issues as the real world (I.E. they're not against LGBT+ people) He could be referring to them not liking half animal people or yordals, but that's more of a Ionian thing. Maybe I'm wrong or just misunderstood something riot said, but I was wondering if anyone else thought it was weird.
I love that Tahm Kench is also mentioned in this story and referred to as "Tommy Kench", it makes me wonder if Graves or maybe Bilgewater knows of him? possibly worships him along side the bearded lady?
Graves' sentinel skin also has a voice line where he says "oh sweet Tommy Kench", I imagine it's a saying in Bilgewater similar to how we say stuff like "Oh god" or "oh sweet jesus" since he's sort of considered to be a folk legend
as seen in Ruined King, Tahm Kench is/was the name of a local captain, who most likely ended up as a victim to the catfish-demon, which then took his name
In Legends of Runeterra, Tahm Kench is featured as a pirate mafia godfather, giving deals and taking what he wants in return just like in his story. So yeah, makes sense he is a well known figure in Bilgewater.
They are the best small scale characters xd And they can be everywhere lol be it worldending threads or heists or Mayby even as antagonists. They are always useable and welcome + now they travel the world 🤣
One day they're gonna find themselves living in a cute, small home with a garden, with a pet wharf rat (remember when you could have them follow you on aram during a Bilgewater event?) and sleeping in one bed and they're still gonna call themselves "partners".

We need a Arcane like series of the origins of Fate and Graves. In the mean time we could learn about Mf and Gp like we learned about Viktor and Jayce. As long as some of the writers of this story sticks around for it.
Fun fact. In the wild pistol shrimps and gobies pair up in a symbiotic relashionship in which they protect each other and share a burrow. Its really wholesome and a nice detail in the story.
The "Northman" is definitely Olaf. Sentinel Graves has an interaction with Olaf where he says " I could respect a LARGE MUSKY BARBARIAN who knows what he wants". So you could tell he's into him.
I still cannot get past the fact that they flat out said "Graves had been gay for over four decades", like DAMN. I'm taking an extended break from League twt but I just know they went WILD over this

Didn't we know his full name already? It was already stated either in his bio or in one of his other short stories. I like how they handled Graves's role in the ruination, that it's vague and nobody knows the truth as everyone tells a different story. It's literally how our view on it is since it was different in every game and media, and we learned that not everything of it is canon
I can only imagine the "type" of "clients" they got in their early days with that announcement of doing anything for anyone for any price, must have been graves writing it I'm sure
I'm gonna be honest, for me this is a pride month story not for TF and Graves, but for Goby and Shrimp, who survived the explosion safely and went on to have more adventures together and spending years laughing while flying away in big explosions that only brought them more and more together. As time passes on, the fishmen started to get friendlier every day, not only thinking about their future jobs, but also their lives as a whole. Not wanting to be separated from their relationship, one day, when both thieves were in a shore at night, gazing at the stars, Goby looked at Shrimp and Shrimp looked at Goby. "Hey, i was thinking... What will you do? After all of this, i mean" said Goby, now losing himself in his partner's eyes, brighter than any star that night. (the end, cliffhanger for everyone else that doesn't continue the story)
I like the Pride Month stories, because they get rid of any questions of whether or not the characters are gay. Leona and Diana kissed, Graves has a list of terrible men he banged and TF is jealous because he doesn't want any women coming close to the guy that he doesn't want to admit he is into.

I hope the wait isn't too long before we see these two again. TF and Graves, travelling the world, getting into trouble. Maybe they'll meet Grave's old buddy Rango in Ixtal, or TF might actually introduce Graves to his ma.
About Rango I agree, it would be fun. However TF was kicked out when he was 9-12 y/o, moved to Bildgewater and met Graves, so I'm sorry, but there is VERY little chance for it.

I see that a lot but : Just because they are (at least Graves) CONFIRMED as gays doesn’t mean that : 1 - It wasn’t part of the original’s creator plan but Riot chickened out like they did with Taliyah and others champions. 2 - It waste everything done before. Their personalities haven’t changed, neither did their relationship, neither did their characters, neither did their appearance or anything. I don’t understand why people are saying things like “they wasted the potential of these characters” or “why making them gays” like that’s such a big deal. It’s almost like those people don’t want gay people in story as long as they don’t come with the “gay package” of feminin traits, sass, strass and glam… I see a lot of people saying this story is trash and the writers just wanted to make a coming out for Graves. Even though a story for a coming out isn’t bad, this story isn’t bad at all. It add depth to their previous life before what we know now, world building, relationship building, character development and even tease a new champion. This story isn’t top tier but it’s very entertaining and funny with it being also a coming out of Graves. I just wanted to say that people implying that Riot “forced” that gay relationship are just dumb because them being a couple as been teased since forever and except by being completely blind or refusing to see outside of clichés and merchandising, you have to be completely stupid to see it as a forced attempted to put gays in Runeterra…
Twisted Fate and Graves, Goby and the Pistol Shrimp, all remind me of how real life pistol shrimps and gobies look out for each other. Also, I love the parallel of their abilities, Graves with his shotgun (pistol shrimps use bubble bullets), and Twisted Fate with his vision (gobies have keen eyesight to warn their shrimp roommates).
Graves and tf being partners for years, went through the whole "friends to enemies to lovers" arc with multiple interactions. "Forced" Meanwhile, graves speak to vayne for 10 minutes, call her buddy. "Should have been canon. They're in love" Oh the hypocrisy

Anyway i'm not even angry, it's just fascinating to me how two people with different sex can interact in anyway possible and people would call it "flirting" or "sexual tension" but a same sex couple would be seen as "good bros" no matter what they do
By the way, I wonder if there is any chance that the Northman and the Vastaya that TF mentions are Olaf and Rengar. It wouldn't surprise me if Graves tried to have some fun even during the Ruination...
last year's story made me cry and this year's story made me laugh out loud, riot's writers are so talented. also graves sleeping around makes so muc sense.
To those who want to comment something along the lines of: "Why does everything have to be sexual, why cant they just be friends!?" If you see a gay couple existing and you instant thought is them having hardcore gay sex then I think that's something you need to sort out about yourself before making a comment.
I love the idea of two hardened criminals together, and TF and Graves have such a fun dynamic with all their pointless arguments too. Just a 10/10 pair
I simply love your videos and your channel. You add so much more to the story and you are a good reader as well. I love watching you make and add your style to every story riot is putting out. Also, I call this to be one of the best stories so far this year. I just love it so much. The interaction and all the hints towards the ruined event. It truly saves the event a bit with this story. The one with multiple arms Graves mentioned could be the next champion they tease. It's either that or could be the one from LoR. Riot hint a lot of characters with many hands by now so who knows exactly.
From the teaser on the champion Roadmap: "Oyster Bill said all he heard was joyous laughter and the sound of splashing water" Pretty sure the lady with the laughing Jar fits perfectly here. If you had the clothes with hands ... seems we got it confirmed :D
I have a ridiculously specific theory about this one, and it’s that this lady is drawing power from the laughing jar, and that the laughing jar actually contains a demon of joy. And that the key to freeing the demon from the jar is the same key that Zoe stole from Fiddlesticks.

I really hope next year we get a story of caitlyn and Vi (the in-game version) I know they're already confirmed as a couple and we've already seen their chemistry in Arcane. Even though Riot themselves never really said it out loud. I'd still like to see a short story about them both together since in-game they have been together for 8 to 10 years now.
I think the ex that was mentioned with the "laughing jar" is 10000% the new champ that was teased with all those hands. In the small paragraph we got for a teaser, it mentioned the sound of laughter as smoke filled the room and then everyone was dead when the smoke cleared. So in this story, the mention of the many hands and also the "laughing jar" just seems like a direct reference to me.
Turk here. I was curious about the same thing and read the story in both English and Turkish at the same time and I am happy (and surprised) to say they didn't cut anything! Dunno about China tho.

I don't think they thought that. As a company they have to be aware of everything. They're not taking any profit of it because they don't sell with LGBTQ+ every item on the game related with this month is free. The problem here is the homophobia in the entire world, they're just a company
I just want to point out two things to people complaining: 1st - TF and Graves were intended to be a couple since the Burning Tides, it's just that Riot didn't let this being stated out loud until now. 2nd - It's really a retcon when only about 40 (41 with Arcane) champions (including Graves and TF now) out over 160 ever had a sexual/loving relationships/feelings with other characters (including some that I don't even know if the relationship was mutual, out of obligation, or if I just assumed things that don't exist)? The sexuality of the other characters is a blank slate that the writers can fill in any way they want. Oh, and out of this 40, only 6 were stated to be bi or gay.
People are just wary about such themes in games, like me personally, and with good reason. I feel like a lot of people don't like this not because it's promoting homosexually, but it's promoting it just for good boy points with the people who support it. Companies are known to pander to the LGBT community and then forget about them the moment pride month is over. Hell, Blizzard even released the charts they follow for inclusivity and diversity, if you couldn't make it any more obvious you're doing it just to check a box.
@@danieldimov8625 it's not Riot's case though, they've been consistently fine with the LGBT community, all throughout the year, like Cait and Vi's relationship in Arcane. They're simply treating it like a normal thing, making stories about both hetero and homo romances

Zed and shen are... it’s complicated cuz their kinda enemies?
